My best friend and I went for a girls night and it ended with us leaving UNSATISFIED and in PAIN. We were getting gel manicures and as they were filing my nail down it started to hurt. I told them over three times it hurt. I asked them over three times to stop and not file my nails down anymore. They did not listen and continued to file them as it was visibly hurting me. My nail was filed down so much that you could see the redness of my skin UNDER my nail. The fact that they ignored me multiple times is unprofessional. It was obvious that they were talking about us too. I question if the lady who did my nails was even licensed due to how bad of a job she did. read more

Make appts. Walk ins aren't common. Located in a small plaza with plenty of parking available. They've been in business for 6 years. Prices: could not find this anywhere since there's no website or Yelp info. Manicure is $12 excluding tax and tip. Pedicure is $30 excluding tax and tip. Manicure and pedicure is $42 (so no discounts if you get both). Environment: no strong chemical odor which was surprising given that place is small and doors are closed. Had a nail drying desk on the right when you walk in. 6 or so pedicure massage chairs. Left is 6 manicure stations where some are arranged in an L-shape so they have two people working with one customer, one doing left hand and other one on the right hand. Thought that was new and efficient. Kind of feels crowded/small since they've got a lot of stuff/clutter. Service: friendly people, fast service for sure as I didn't see anyone who had to wait but also due to everyone making appts. Observed that nobody really talked to each other; ladies who work there know little English. Fairly calm environment with the music and tv in background. I wish this place met/exceeded my expectations given that it's near my new home. I may still go to my other regular Vernon nail place given that they're at the same price and I'm more familiar with people there. Relatively speaking, this place is decent but I'd drive 20 minutes to my other place as its a completely different vibe- more spacious, open, airy, feels higher quality for service for same buck, and more professional. I've recommended that place to many friends who also love it there. May not do the same for this place. I was also disappointed that my nails smudged/chipped on the way out since it didn't dry completely even though they've dismissed me from the drying and put final oil on top of the nails. I didn't bother going back given time constraint and more work/time. So essentially I got imperfect nails done for the money. Let's see how long they last. read more

My friend invited me here because this is her usual spot. I myself am not one to get mani/ pedis but this wonderful place put me at ease. I work in healthcare so I don't alwats get to be pampered, always on my feet and never enough time to take off chipping nail polish. And I was spoiled here! I payed a great price for everything that most places would charge an arm and a leg for half the work done. You also can't be a clean work place with kind staff. read more

When I tipped the rest of the cash in my wallet, (which was sufficient, and admittedly a few dollars less than I normally leave them) the owner chased me outside demanding more money. I was so taken aback I thought maybe I didn't pay the bill correctly ? When I realized he wanted me to give him more tip - I was horrified! How awful to treat a good customer that way. I am surprised that Modern Nails hasn't been reviewed before on Yelp. I highly recommend this place for the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the establishment (including the refreshing absence of harsh chemical fumes), and the value one receives for the services offered. For $42.00 (12 for the manicure and 30 for the pedicure) I got a manicure and pedicure that included a hot stone massage for my feet and calves and a paraffin treatment for my hands. After ten manicures/pedicures you can get a free eyebrow wax. They also do facial hair waxes as well as underarms, arms, legs, and bikini areas. read more

Called at the last minute as I was visiting family in town and needed a shellac manicure- they fit me in and it was one of the best manicures I've ever had actually- super quick and well done. Two men did my nails as they were waiting for other appts to come in- I loved the attention as it's such a pet peeve of mine at other salons when employees are sitting around on their phones when they could help getting other customers out faster! First time at Modern Nails and I'm sure I'll be going back. The nail techs and owners were all very pleasant and the shop was clean and well organized. I felt very pampered and was pleased with how my shellac manicure turned out. My only complaint is that there didn't appear to be any air conditioning and rivulets of sweat dripped down my face. This place is amazing. I have only gone for Pedicures but you really get a deluxe treatment. I swear I would pay just as much just to sit in the massage chairs which are the comfiest I have EVER sat in. They do a great job on your toes, and they even use hot stones. When you sit to have them dry they even massage your shoulders. It is a little pricey but well worth it. read more

I felt like an inconvenience and that they couldn't wait to rush me out of there to start helping another customer. Whenever I want a good, clean manicure...this is where I go to. This nail salon is great. They are very friendly people that actually want to take pride in what they produce. The owners are hardworking individuals who are extremely nice and will always try to accommodate to your every need and desire. I've been going here for 6 years (since opening) and I will never go anywhere else. The atmosphere is light and spa like with a hint of modern that everybody is looking for. I've tried many other salons and this one by far is the cleanest and most thorough. Included in a manicure is a massage, parafinn wax, etc. A regular manicure is only $12 and they have kid prices too. Service, like I mentioned, is great and all of the ladies and gentlemen are there to make you feel comfortable and welcome. They love to talk but don't mind if you prefer to stay quiet and relax. Overall rating is an A (and I've been to many other high end salons in cities such as NYC, LA, Atlanta) but this one takes the grade! read more

I have been a customer for three years and have enjoyed the services but, today I went with my niece to get a polish change on our toes. I was there for at least 45 minutes because they needed to repaint two of my toes because they were smudged when they were applying cuticle oil. I paid for the services with a gift certificate my husband gave me for Christmas. We left and got into my car. Much to my surprise the owner came to my car and opened my door and asked me to pay a tip. I always pay a tip but, I had forgotten since I used my gift certificate. I will no longer be a returning customer. I think asking for a tip is completely rude whether a regular customer forgets to pay a tip or not. A tip should not be expected. This is the absolute BEST salon I have been to in the area. The entire staff is very welcoming and nice, great atmosphere and plenty of chairs and stations. I got a manicure and pedicure today by Melanda and I've never had better service. Amazing personality and very detail oriented, always making sure the temperatures and colors are perfect.
