Mai did an excellent job with dip!
Sabina C.

I love this salon. I discovered it last year and it's now my go-to! Love the staff, although Mai is my Gal, I don't mind anyone else don't my nails because they're all talented. It can get busy especially on the weekends or pre-holidays so I suggest calling in to make an appointment.

I've been going to this salon for one year and cannot recommend them enough! Super friendly and sweet. Quality work. They have done countless manicures and pedicures for me, these are just a couple wonderful manicures I am sharing. They do tend to get busy so make an appointment!!

2019 Yelp 120 Challenge - #45 I visited Modern Nails one evening after work because a nail broke earlier that day. I usually do dip nails, but I was open to switching back to gel because of the longevity of the gel. I stumbled upon Modern nails on Yelp as a recommended salon in Frisco and decided to try it out. Upon entering I was greeted by a women by the name of Anna. She was really nice and she recommended/ helped me pick out a bright Spring color. (I call it highlighter yellow). Once I picked my color, she offered me a drink and she began on my nails. I love the way she treated my hands and my nails. She wasn't rough but gentle and it reminded me of my salon in Vegas. Anna dipped my nails so well that after two weeks my nails still look like a fresh set. I returned two weeks later to get my toes done and another gentleman took his time on my toes and gave me the best massage.

Brought along a friend and she loved her nails

I've gotten my nails done here twice now, and both times they gave me exactly what I hoped for. I've gotten my nails done by Mai and Vincent, who were both able to accurately hand paint designs from Pinterest pictures I showed them. My first set was the pink heart design done by Mai. I also brought a friend along who loved her flower nails (by Amy? I think). The pink set Mai did lasted me from 5/23 to 7/07, way longer than I was expecting. None of them fell off, only my thumb chipped around 4 weeks after I had them done. I received tons of compliments on the cute design, and one of my friends came here to get the same set done in green. I got my second set today (black flaming heart design by Vincent) as well as a pedicure. The experience was just as enjoyable as my first, and their pricing was very reasonable for such high quality work. This has become my new favorite nail place. Excellent quality, excellent service, and excellent results!

THREE weeks later, y'all, and my nails are still fly as hell!

I have searched high and low for a decent nail shop. Raised in L.A. - home to some of the best and baddest nail artistes on the planet, umkay?! - I am SUPER PICKY about who touches my hands. They are my primary vanity point. Since 2018, I've gone to six different nail shops (three different ones in my first six months before coming here) only to be disappointed. When I came to Modern Nails, though, and lucked out with Mai (nails) and Kevin (best pedicure in the DFW metroplex). Don't trip if the prices are more than what you pay at shops who do sub-par work because, trust, you are getting the primo work. I tried a couple of other places but have decided to stick with the best!

Dip on my regular nails, color 259 (stone gray) and color 157 (silver glitter) $35

My first visit to Modern nails was pretty good! They were pretty busy when i arrived (expected near the New Years) but was not waiting too long to get seen. I just wanted something simple with a little bit of pop to it so i went with gray. Mai was very efficient when doing the dip and keeping to the shape i wanted! She was super friendly and talkative which is nice instead of a dead silence sometimes. I've searched high and low for a good nail salon in the North Texas area and I'm glad i finally found one. Will definitely be back again!

Kevin is the BEST nail artist I've EVER had do my nails! He went above and beyond to make sure not only that i was happy but that his work was perfect. I've been to countless nail salons and none compare nor come even close! Plus happy hour 9:30am-2:00pm 15% off!!!! This is going to be my regular nail salon from here on out.

I happened into this salon while I was waiting for my daughter to get through her class at Quad C. They had a good Yelp review so I decided to give them a shot. They were really attentive and you could tell that they all enjoyed working there. It seemed more like they were a family at times rather than just trying to make a dollar. They took their time and did not just rush through in order to get to the next person, which I feel my normal salon has been doing as of late. Tommy did an amazing job on my feet and even made a flower on my NexGen nails to match the flower on my toes. Anna did a great job on my fingers as well. They served mimosas on a rainy Saturday morning and gave a 15% discount as well. I will definitely be back!

Best place in frisco to get cute nails done! I have had multiple designs done here, and so far have not been disappointed once. Update 10/07/19 I still come in when I can, and I am as happy and excited with my nails as I was the first time. The nail shape and design was everything I could have asked for and more. This place never disappoints and it's definitely the best nail salon I have ever been to. I always will look forward to getting my nails done here!

Latoya B.

Tommy is great! He knows what he is doing. The quality of my nails were good as well as they were not thick and bulky. They have a variety of drinks options including mimosas and they had a 20% discount at the time.

I went here to get my nails done about a week and a half ago after breaking two nails. Mai did an amazing job! Such great attention to detail and the design was exactly what I was looking for. I showed 3 different images on pinterest about what I wanted from each and It turned out really good. They have lasted almost two weeks with no cracks or breaking at all. The ombre turned out really well (no weird lines or anything). If your looking for a place to get fun designs and crazy nails, this is the best place Ive found!

Serena S.

I had a horrible experience at this salon !!! My review in detail was too long, so I will attach an image of it, if anyone would like to take the time and read it. Long story short I went 3 times and they messed them up every time and promised to do better the next time. Well on this third time they insulted my parenting as a mother, yelled across the salon as I was leaving that its too cold for my daughter and I should put more clothes on her. They also completely did something I didn't ask for and cut up my fingers as well, super sore the day after ! VERY RUDE PEOPLE WORKING HERE VINCENT AND "T" SPECIFICALLY.

Modern nails

I payed $90 for these nails that are not only poorly done but I came in for stiletto French tips that my nail tech couldn't even do. 2/10 wouldn't recommend.

This was a previous ombre Vincent did with coffin shape. Beautiful!! Modern nails frisco, TX

Hi, I understand that it’s $30 for acrylic nails. Is that just with a simple one color polish? Would it cost extra to get a nude-pink to white ombre?

Hi sorry for the late answer. Yes acrylic set comes with a simple one color polish. We are well trained experts at doing ombré and other designs. For ombré we prefer using the dip powder system. Ombré is $15 extra. Please call our salon… Read more

We discussed my needs (ready to go vs special occasion), I closed my eyes and saw the transformation when I opened my eyes...exceeded my expectations! I've been to a few others before and sometimes I think finding the best fit lash artist is like Cinderella and her glass slipper...you gotta try a few until you find the best fit! Let me tell you exactly how I've come to fall completely in love with her work: 1) Perfectionist! Katie does spend time on her volume sets but that's because she is literally making absolutely perfect fans on every single one of your lashes. How do I know? Because as my lashes grow out and naturally shed, I'll find one on my counter sink in PERFECT fan, not clumped together, not 3-4 lashes with globs on glue at the base. They are perfectly spaced lash fans that create beautiful wispy volume. I would rather lay there for two hours with PERFECTLY fanned out volume lashes than have a rushed one hour session with clumps. 2) Genuine and Real! Katie is honest and isn't trying to just make a fast buck with shoddy work. When I came to see her after not being able to be scheduled with my previous lash girl, she very honestly told me that she needed to remove the previous work and let my lashes grow back a bit. She could've easily just removed my previous set and put a new set on, but after removal, she saw that I had some natural lashes that needed to grow a bit more (apparently they might've been pulled out in a chunk due to glue clumping from my previous artist's work). She wanted what was best for my lashes and not what was best for her pocket! 3) Caring! She cares about the health of your natural lashes and wants you to be able to enjoy lash extensions for a long time. She educates you on your natural lash growth circle and lash care and because she is so meticulous in her careful placement of every full lash fan, my lashes really DO get healthier! 4) Lastly, TALENTED AF! She knows that I have thin but long natural Asian lashes and that a D curl is not going to work with my small Asian double lid. She knew to use a C curl, she knew to use thinner but more lashes versus thicker and less, she knew what length would work with my eye shape! She customizes it to fit your look. I even referred my girl friend to her who is also Asian but has different shaped eyes than me and I could tell she did a slightly different style and it looked amazing on her. Oh wait sorry and one more 5) did I mention her lashes lasted ALL MONTH? I used to get my lashes filled every two WEEKS with all my previous lash artists. I don't know how she does it, but they still looked good a MONTH later when I came back in for a new set. You know what that means? Better for my wallet! Katie is in it for quality lashes, customized looks and longevity of your natural lashes! Anyway, I've found the Cinderella to my glass slipper. I've enjoyed the lashes of my past but I think Katie fits me the best and I'm done searching!!!

I've been getting lash extensions for the past 2 years now and wow did I downgrade by going here. Firstly, I tried 3 different lash artists here and not one did half a decent job as my previous lash tech did. My appointments were never on time and at that they NEVER took the amount of time as needed/paid for and cut my appointment short while doing a crappy job at it (45 mins at most). I gave them the exact lash measurements that my previous lash tech used on me and they did not follow it. Also when removing my extensions during fills the process was painful! Below is a picture of my lashes after my 1 week fill. I was visiting my previous lash tech in Austin and she was so upset that they left me like this and fixed me up right away removing all their work and starting from scratch!! She said it looked like they used premade fans that were clustered and they weren't even a D curl like I had asked! Last picture on right side is her work compared to their work on the left.

I recommend Lash iCandy to anyone who wants to know they are in safe hands and valued as a client! (Don't we all?) Of course after researching lashes for years, I was afraid of the horror stories I had read. I finally just decided that I need to look more polished and avoid the inevitable smudge I get from mascara. I really dug deep and researched for weeks. The first thing that struck me was the fact that consistently over the years, Lash.i.candy has had a solid track record of great reviews, so I thought I'd give them a try. I was impressed by the fact that the owner, Jill, herself called me (I booked with Brittany) to walk me through the risks of lashes since I was a "first timer" for last extensions. I was going to be traveling to Italy and France and really wanted to have something that lasted, looked good and did not give me sensitivity. I have had lasik surgery so my eyes are particularly sensitive. The result was amazing! I can't stress enough what a difference these Russian lashes have made to my look! I received so many compliments from strangers and friends alike because of my lashes and it really boosted my self-confidence. The techs actually make the clusters by hand! I was pretty amazed at the artistry involved in this process and the fact that the lashes are not mink was really important to me as well. They are partially made of silk and I appreciate that they really have a gorgeous curl and hold it for always What I mostly appreciate is how respectful these techs are of people's time! I have never had to wait and value the fact that these ladies especially have a strong work ethic. In spite of a tornado in the area the night before, a 7am appointment was honored. I have visited this lash studio at various times of the day and can honestly say that this is the way they do things. I have never seen customers kept waiting or rushed out the door - and it's been busy! I love my lashes, and to keep them on point, I do 2 weekly fills because I am very active and rub my eyes. The adhesive they use is efficient (I wash my face every single day, twice a day, religiously) and the adhesive is also gentle at the same time. The lashes hardly tangle or clump and they really are a "get up and go" low maintenance product that is always on point. I think it's important that you see lashes as an investment and again would recommend candy.i.lash for both their professionalism and artistry!

After moving to Frisco recently, I needed to continue my lash extensions. My previous ones (before…read moreI moved) lasted over a month. Since I am sensitive to regular lash glue (fumes), I brought my own lash glue, last used successfully by my former experienced lash technician. The only "lash tech" of the two in this "shop" here that I could get an appointment with, was Randall, the husband. (There are only the husband and the wife) Randy (the husband and former musician) was very amiable, and the lash application (with my sensitive eyes glue) was not painful or burning to my eyes. The appointments are held in their house, in which they had placed two lash application beds in a front room. In the other bed was often a woman receiving lashes, and she brought her dog, which sat on top of her, as she lay on the bed. The first application (with my provided glue) went well,so I came back about 2.5 weeks later for a fill. At that time Randy said he wasn't comfortable using my glue; he felt it was drying up, and he wanted to use his own. I agreed, with the proviso that it had to be suitable for my sensitive eyes. It wasn't quite as good at avoiding sensitivity as the glue I had, and I did tear somewhat, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. I did find, however, that there was considerably more lash loss. Consequently, I had to go back sooner than I expected, or was used to doing. This pattern (rapid lash loss and tearing) went on for a few visits, but I did like that their house/salon was somewhat close to where I live. Randy was always agreeable, and, uniquely, always wore a mask and gloves, which I hadn't seen any lash tech do before. Then, after one lash application, where several of his lashes had again fallen out quite quickly (within days), and I kept feeling like there was something scratchy in both eyes, I realized that I had developed an eye infection. This infection was known to be the result of blocked tear ducts. I had never had one before, (and I never, ever touched my eyes), but I am from a medical family and had family in, and I, myself worked in, ophthalmology, so I recognized the signs. Most of the lashes fell out before I was due to return, but I put off the appointment to allow my eye infection to heal. As I never touch my eyes, it seemed it was most likely due to the lash application. I informed Randy. When I felt the eye infection was finally on the mend; and when it had nearly disappeared, I texted to make another fill appointment with Randy. However, I was then informed that he would no longer see me. It appeared that having gotten an eye infection, most likely from a faulty lash application that allowed glue to block my tear duct, meant that I was no longer welcome there...and he said as much. Since I have had lash extensions for several years (and never an eye infection) , I felt bare without them. I called another local lash tech, who works alone. She gave me a very few lashes, explaining that there was so much damage to my natural lashes, that she didn't feel comfortable working on my lashes. This had never been the case in the 6+ years I had them done in another city. The few that she did apply, lasted nearly a full month. When she was going out of the country for a vacation, and told me it would take months for the "damage" to my lids and lashes to "heal", I decided to try another place in the area, when I felt I had healed. I have been quite happy there ever since. They have sensitive eyes glue, are extremely professional, I'm not put next to right people holding their dogs (in a lash salon!), and the lashes have been great, and long-lasting. I've been going there ever since, and have very little if any fallout, my eyes don't burn when I tear, and I don't have to remember how to use Zelle for payment each time. The experienced lash techs there don't wear gloves (or masks), and do excellent work, without any infection concerns on my part. I am now glad that I was put in a position to keep looking for the right professional place.
