Customer Service Sucked Today I was just there two days ago and gave a 5 star rating on Google...OMG! It was well deserved. BUT NOT TODAY!! The short guy was running the show today and that was a mistake. I asked him FOUR TIMES, can the tech do my daughter's nails the same as mine, color and one design, he kept telling me yes, yes, yes, yes. I even said we could come back when Cindy is there....but he kept saying we can do it, so we went with it. It was not the same and I was very disappointed. I told him and he got very LOUD and IRATE with me. It was embarrassing. He was very argumentative. I have spent much money here, BUT NO MORE. There are too many nail shops in the area to be treated this way from this guy. My daughter and I gave Misa a hug and thanked her but I will NOT be treated this way, from no one. read more

I was fully satisfied with the service. However, I chose the cheapest pedicure ($38) and ended up being charged $75 after tip. I asked about the extra $30 and it was for the gel nails! Terrible experience!! If I could leave no stars I would!!! This place was such a waste of money!! I went because I got a gift card for my birthday. My mom and I went and got the same services, but my experience was awful!! The lady who did my nails did a terrible job. 2 hours later my nail polish is literally sliding off my nails. She did not trim my cuticles or anything just filed them. The woman who did my pedicure barely massaged my legs and didn't do my feet. She was rushing through and was very pushy on getting additional services. My mom who sat right beside me got much more done for her, but even she said it was way too expensive for what she got. There was no consistency and we both felt like they were trying to rush us out despite the fact no one was waiting!!!! I will NEVER go back here again!! read more

I will never go there again. The workers were arguing in there language I did not know what they were saying but I could tell it was stressful. about 10 minutes in one of the workers dropped her tools and walked to the back leaving a girl without her nails done finally she got up and walked out. The owner then said in English "everyone shut up and work" next person that talks is out of here. Sad I told her there was something in the water. she say put your foot in water it make it better. I looked down and there was more black pieces in the water. She say it is from from your sock. If I could give 0 stars I would, This was the worst experience ever. First red flag while there they got a call saying state board was in the area so they started scrambling trying to clean up and stuff implements in their purse and cars. I was patient and allowed them to handle their business then then could tend back to me. I told them I was simple I picked my color and said 5times I want a design on big toe and two fingers. The lady gives me a half behind pedicure and throws on pink blu and white stones over light blue polish with white lines and some yellow drops of paint. She asked if I like I said no and it makes no sense and don't match. I tell her wait because I want my nails and feet to match. I ask the nail tech what design is he doing because I want it to match. He tells me wait and see. He puts red black and white lines over light blue polish and my nails are lumpy all different lengths and shapes and sloppy. He puts oil on them and wipes them and the polish comes off one. Instead of fixing he try's to clean up by dropping more polish on the spot and using a file to clean up what he know was wrong then asked If I like I said no. They try to tush me to pay and tried to charge me 140 for a classic pedi and short full set. She tried to explain the price and I said that makes no sense I'm in the beauty industry for the past 17yrs and own a salon myself and this isn't worth it nor how you handle clients and I won't be pack but ima pay because a service was done. She tried to give a discount and I gave her the $ then I leave she comes out trying to get the addtl $ she took off and I said go get your manager I wana speak to the owner or management and she brushes me off and says never mind and walks off. I WILL NEVER RETURN NO REFER ANYONE. The mistake is Iam a huge tipper and repeat client but I will not be taken advantage of, getting service in unclean environments dodging state board not played for a fool. Your brand is everything if you don't care for it why should you have clients who care for what your offering. I pray they find passion and focus on client satisfaction and learn to provide a safe, positive and sanitary environment because this was a epic fail!!! read more

My nail color and toenail color do NOT match. The color on my fingernails is not what I chose. Also, the paint on my toenails does not look good at all. When I pointed this out to the manager, he claimed that it happens with the companies sometimes that the policies don't match and that I shouldn't pick that color next time. He didn't even want to look at the bad paint job on my toenail polish. I'm now at home soaking off gel polish and removing toenail polish. read more

The communication is way off. I called to set an appointment and get a price, I was quoted 32 for a full set and she charged me 47. Then I asked about how much a fill in costs and she said 20 then changed it to 35. If he quotes that it starts at 32 I would have understood but I confimed with him on the phone that it was 32. read more

This is the outcome of my SNS manicure from about 4 hours ago. Clear coat is peeling off, nails separating from the SNS (noticed that about 30 min after leaving), bubbly looking and bumpy, and the crooked nails. And not to mention all the mess around my nails where she was filing so hard trying to shape them. The Woman skipped steps while doing the manicure I kept questioning if she was going to do them which she did but they were way out of order and then filed my nail so hard she made me bleed. Not going to go back there EVER again. I will be taking my money to another business who can get the job done correctly. Don't waste your money there I've been multiple times and it's like playing the lottery some days they do good and others they don't. Very disappointing experience. I went on a Monday and myself and another person were the only patrons. But obviously the lady that did my manicure was in a big hurry to get back to talking with her coworkers. My nails were cut crooked, polish all over my skin. Absolute worst nail salon I have ever been to. My nails look like a child painted them. And everyone was rude. They just talk To each other and don't even look and what they are doing which is probably why it was so terrible. The "manicure" was pretty much me washing my own hands. And they try to get you to pay before you even get the paint on so you won't "mess your nails up after". Um no. You wait for your nails to dry and you are happy before you go here. The pedicure chairs were full and they told us about half an hour wait. That was fine. We got seated, and some of our party was attended touch quicker than others. Over all the pedicure was fine. But I probably wouldn't come back unless I had to. Plus is that they are open on Sunday, whereas many of the salons in Mebane are not. read more

Literally the worst mani/pedi experience I've ever had. First, I showed up at 9:30 when they're listed as open on their door and no one showed up until 9:45. The woman came strolling in with a coffee and presumably her breakfast. I gave her a minute to open the shop and have a sip of her coffee before going in. Pedicure: Water wouldn't warm up and spelled like sewage. The whole "pedicure" lasted 9 minutes and 28 seconds. I know this because I was playing a timed game on my phone. She never scraped the bottoms of my feet or did my cuticles or anything. I looked down and she had already painted my toes. Manicure: We then went to the manicure station where I sat down and then she did and immediately put her feet on my wet toes and had to re-do them. While she was doing that I took notice of what a mess the place was. There were boxes of nail polish all over the floor, even the phone was laying on the floor. Anyway, I asked her to match the polish color she did on my feet but with gel polish. She said $15 dollars more. Fine. Whatever, gel lasts longer. Oh how I wish I had saved that $15 dollars. First, I asked for square nails she said "maybe" and proceed to cut them down with clippers. I assumed she would square them off with a file but one never graced my hands. She then went to push my cuticles back with that metal wand thing and did it so hard that the first finger started bleeding. She then pretended to do the rest of my fingers by just sliding the wand over my nails ever so gently as quickly as she could. Then slitting 500 other steps she jumped right into gel polish and said "done, thank you $50 dollars" I was shocked by the entire experience. I was already in the car when I realized that she didn't even put a clear coat on top. I could have done better than this at home for free! A mani/pedi experience is supposed to be a relaxing one. This was stressful af and left me looking worse than I did when I went in. read more

Do not ever go and get your nails done at this place. 1. A basic mani & pedi was $45. (Pricey) plus their instruments didn't come out of the plastic wraps. 2. nail paint skills aweful 3. She left my shoes at the pedicure station. I had to go and get my sneakers. 4. I have hard nails, you have to cut side to side, she cut straight on. So frustrated at this point. 5. She used my nail soaking water and some scrub stuff and put it on my hands. 6. I didn't even let her finish I was so pissed. Then she had the audacity to charge me the full amount. I calmly said no I'm not paying $45 for this mess. So I paid 38. Which is still to much, but whatever. I'm warning all of you in the Burlington area. read more

I've been going here religiously for 2 years i use to always see Danny & he always did an amazing job on my nails and was super nice! But here recently he hasn't been there and everyone else who has done my nails (specifically a tall skinny man who's name I'm not sure of) has done awful i pointed out that my nail was put of crooked (it was actually sideways but whatever lol) he refused replace it and said he could fix it & it's not awful but it's still crooked. I've been in multiple times where the employees have been yelling at each other. He cuts my fingers every time he has done my nails and even when i request someone else i always end up getting seated with him. I feel like I'm paying a lot more for them as well because he charges for every mistake that HE makes for example putting the wrong color on. i used to come to modern and get my nails done consistently , but after today's visit i won't be going back. i made an appointment for 5 pm with 2 of my friends and they had us separated until towards the middle of the appointment , even when open seats were available. i had about 3 different people work on my nails, they were constantly switching and leaving in the middle of doing the service. once we were sat together , they had one lady doing all three of our acrylic sets. i specifically asked for a blue to white ombré , with a coffin shape. each of the ladies that worked on my nails decided to trim them shorter and shorter , so i didn't end up with the length i requested. then we picked the colors and apparently it wasn't working so she wiped it off with her finger , and had me choose another. i did so , and it wasn't blending well enough for her liking so she told me "we aren't doing this" and showed me something else. i told her i wanted blue and she said "we can't do it". uhm...if you can't complete a service to how your customer wants , find someone who can , or when i showed you the picture , let me know you can't do it before i waste my time and money ! so i ended up with the nails attached vs the second picture is what i asked for. thanks so much modern. read more

I will have to say, I have been here probably dozens of times in the past few years, and never have I had an experience like today. The tech seemed mad....not at me...but just disgruntled in general. She was very distracted with the other techs, and got up to answer the phone twice. She scrubbed my feet until I thought they were going to bleed, and massaged my feet very quickly and roughly. The polish was applied quickly as well, and she smudged it when checking to see if it was dry. The obligatory massage at the end at the drying table was ROUGH.....lets just say she was very strong, and applied A LOT of pressure on my neck and back. The salon does have good techs. I really like Nancy and Linda.....but this one needs to relax, take her time, and not be so distracted. People like to enjoy their time there....not listen to techs chatter or be hurried out especially when they weren't crowded. I go to be pampered a bit.....not to cringe at the actions of my tech. Next time I go...(IF I go back), I will ask for someone I am familiar with, and know does a super job at making you enjoy your time there. Tech was Cindy :( read more

He filed them down now non of them are even or have the correct shape he was filing my nails so hard that he ripped my real nail up from my skin he didn't speak a word to me was listening to his music the whole time and I could bet money he didn't have a license to do nails it was the worst experience I've ever had at any nail salon and im definitely not going back and I do not recommend this place at all read more

I've been going here for 8 years: 1 year at the old location on Church St. and 7 years at Alamance Crossing. I've had a few issues here and there and Art and Cindy have always handled them when I've approached them and asked they do so. Sure, they speak Vietnamese but I'm paying 30 bucks for a liquid gel fill instead of 60. If you want utter relaxation and perfection, then go to a high end salon and pay 3 times the price. To criticize Modern Nails for not acting like a high-end salon when you are getting a hell of a deal is simply ignorant. Grow up. For the money, they're the best in the business. read more

Went to get my dip polish removed and get regular polish put on. They took 20 minutes to take the dip off and they even seemed to missed a few pieces of it. The worker clipped and filed my nails. She did not touch my cuticles nor did she clean underneath my nails. She put two coats of polish on, did not put on a top coat and hurried me over to dry my nails. She stood next to me for about 5 minutes while my nails dried, grabbed my hand, touched the polish and then told me to pay her. I told her they needed to dry longer and she seemed angry and continued to stand and wait for me. Because she didn't push back my cuticles she ended up painting overtop of them and they look terrible. I could have done a better job myself!! She didn't apply lotion or anything else to my hands even though i asked for a manicure, not just a color change. Very disappointed, will never be returning. read more

DO NOT GO HERE if you are expecting to be relaxed! The techs speak loud Vietnamese and sometimes get into spit spats! They will also STOP in the middle of your services that you're paying for to handle an issue. It's loud and they get hungry to make quick cash and do rush jobs! They also ask you how much tip are you going to leave before swiping your credit card which is rude. Oh and the bright lightning and nail smell doesn't help either. read more

The guy who did my sister didn't lotion or stone or even massage her while she was in his chair.
