This was my second visit to this salon, and unfortunately, I left very disappointed, especially considering I paid $50 for a refill set. From the start, the nails did not look well done. The French tips were crooked and uneven, the shaping was inconsistent, and several nails had visible bumps, dents, and divots in the acrylic. Some areas looked like the product wasn't properly smoothed out, leaving noticeable valleys and an overall unfinished appearance. What made it more frustrating was that only two days later, one of my nails started lifting. I went back hoping it would be properly corrected, but instead of removing the lifted acrylic and redoing the nail, they simply glued it down and sent me on my way. The lifting underneath was still there, so the issue was never actually fixed. A few days after that, the same nail completely came off. As a first-time client, this was not the experience I expected. For $50, I expected a basic level of care, proper application, and accountability when something clearly needed to be fixed. Mistakes can happen, but the way the situation was handled both during and after the service was what made this experience especially disappointing. read more

Though I encountered very nice people at the shop I was a little shocked at the price to get a 5 year olds nails and toes polished with gel polish no designs was $55. Just one color and the clear coat of sparkly gel polish was $55. Without any tip. That's $27.50 each. As an adult for gel polish only with no designs or polish take off etc I've never paid $27.50 to get my toes polished. It was my fault for not asking for pricing beforehand. I paid in order not be combative but I've gone to multiple nail shops in the Kirkman area and I have never paid these type of prices. I was also advised that I was overcharged for this type of service. I'm not sure if it was on purpose. I called the shop but didn't receive an answer. First of all, this place is HOT. No air conditioning and the front door is closed. Not a great first impression. Musty smell and unkept. Sink to wash hands and employee tools were not clean and sanitized. Nails were cut too short and uneven. Paint job was extremely rushed and came out terrible. Cuticles weren't cleaned. Employee was not rude but he stayed silent the entire time. I asked for a trim and gel refill and was told $38. Then $39. There was confusion with paying with a $100 bill but he was able to break the bill for me. I ended up paying $45 with a tip and left unhappy. Wouldn't recommend and won't return but lesson learned. read more

The staff are always friendly and efficient. They confirm my "wants" and sometimes offer advice to help maintain my pedicure. I do not have any "favourite"staff although I have been a regular for almost 2 years. I am rarely the only male having a pedicure or manicure; this indicates that others are comfortable with the staff and trust them to do a good job! ONE WORD (plus many more after): WOW I have never experienced such great service from anywhere before until today! Phil & Woanh (pronounced "Wan/Won") took care of me, amazing beyond words! I got the deluxe pedicure, which came with basically everything you can ask for in a pedicure for a ridiculously great price, & got a "gel powder" mani. Phil suggested the gel powder mani over the gel acrylics, which I was initially hesitant about because I am a woman who is rough with her hands. I tend to break my nails often, which is why I only get them done on special appropriate occasions. However, I do not regret my decision because my nails came out beautifully. The gel powder is strong & is significantly less likely to chip (if not, ever). I have tested it today by playing with a pit bull & cooking up dinner for myself, consistently checking on my nails to see if any damage was done, but everything still looks PERFECT!! Woanh was so wonderful with my pedicure. She conversed with me & was actually interested in getting to know me, which I thought was genuine because you don't see that often. She gave me a great massage & made sure I was taken care of. I love the environment inside because everyone was laughing & having great conversation. It seems as though everyone is one big family, which I have not witnessed within a nail salon or even most businesses before. That's why I won't be back - loved the staff and the owner but I went for my appointment this morning- place was packed and they told me "no wait". Well the guy hadn't even arrived yet. They say "two more minutes@ - he's just across the street. I'm sorry but I'm paying a caretaker while I'm out and I made an appointment for a reason. I became a customer since I moved to Orlando. This place was highly recommended to me. A year ago, service was great, I had no complaints. However, in the past few months I saw that customer service has been terrible. I have noticed that Phil is very selective in who he attends to. He tries to be cool with who he wants to be cool, but he is not. The last time I was there, I waited for almost 30 minutes and about 20 minutes in the message chair. I thought my feet over cooked in the hot water. I was extremely dissatisfied with their attention. If there were not enough personal, why didn't they say something of how much I was supposed to wait and I would have probably walked out and found a better place that would have treated me with consideration for my time. For a simple pedi, it was done rushed. I was charged $45 when I would normally paid $25. I did did not want to argue with Phil about the price, I just wanted out of there. I left Modern Nail, and swore never to return. This place could look better; however, it unkept. If the owner could put a lot of emphasis on the manner his business is run and how outdated it looks, I believe people would give it a better rating. Great customer service but when I got a gel manicure, my nails chipped 2 days later. I had to go back and they fixed it for free and had good customer service but it chipped literally the next day. I went back and they tried to charge me but I spoke with the manager and she fixed it for free. Within one week I went to this salon 3 times and my nails still ended up chipped the third time so I gave up. Although they have good customer service, I will not come back. I've been before and whenever I've had an issue they'd fix it quickly and we're nice about it. However, today the woman who did my nails, I've never seen before and didn't even greet me. Only communication was her asking if i wanted a pedicure and eyebrow waxing as well. My nails look horrible, I'm actually disgusted with my left index finger. I asked for coffin shaped nails and they're all so uneven and poorly shaped. While buffing the nail she managed to hurt me more than once. When she first applied the polish she tried to continue with air bubbles and lint! Telling me the top coat would clear it all up. I made her start over, and doing so, she did a poor job on my right hand not even polishing the nails completely. I should of just left. Extremely unhappy. I've been to so many different places to get my nails done. This place is great for a walk-in or for a permanent place. I've had I've had my nails done by quite a few nail techs. And I am surprised to say that they are all great. The owner is a sweetheart and she's almost always there. They are great at doing the regular nails as well as doing fancy unique nails this place is a lot further from where I live but I will always make this trip because it's always worth it. My nails lastThree weeks and they still look great. It's best to get nails done every two weeks but at this place you can actually wait the third week. I went back for a mani/pedi when my boss was in town, and they did a decent job, but the woman took forever to start my pedi even though we told them we had a meeting on Sand Lake in an hour. I feel that the nails are too big for my fingers & are very bulky. I asked for almond shape & they art not that at all. Terrible. My SNS broke while visiting Orlando. I came here and requested them to fix it. The person I was assigned to me had just come in from outside smoking and didn't wash his hands. I went to the nail salon on Christmas Eve. I had powder dip on my nails and the male nail tech did not remove all the powder dip on my nails he left some on my nails still. When I asked aren't you supposed to romove all the nail polish and reapply it he said no this is the way I do the nails. I have been doing nails for years I have never met a nail tech that leaves some of the old nail polish on and starts painting new nail polish on top of that.
