We had an event/party at our business. I chose Modern Mayhem Sweets to do my desert theme. Michael, the chef, decorated the "pastry table" immaculately. It was the best part of the party. I was very touched and pleasantly surprised to see our cake. It had our logo and slogan on it. In addition, he made Oreo cookie dipped in white chocolate, again with our logo and the phone #. They were wrapped up in plastic cellophane and cute ribbon with our logo colors. What a pleasant surprise! What an amazing job you did Michael. Everyone was scattered around the desert table. We looked to Modern Mayhem to do a cake for our 25th wedding anniversary. When we first met Michael we liked the way he conducted his taste testing. He brought various samples of cake, fillings, and fruits that we could mix and match to come up with the taste we wanted. Very unique and perfect way to conduct cake taste testing that one should take advantage of as you tailor the flavor combinations to exactly what you like. From there we sent several suggestions regarding how we wanted it decorated. The end result was a very nicely decorated and delicious cake that received many compliments from our guests. Of course every bride does her research and I saw some of his work and loved it, we met for a cake tasting and we could have licked the plates! He has a wide variety of cake fillings and cake flavors. As any bride would know, the cake cutting experience is a memorable moment for any wedding reception. Unfortunately, this moment was not a joyous one as I watched the bride cut into her cake and the entire bottom layer was burnt. BURNT. Everyone was mortified. Who decorates and sells a burnt wedding cake thinking it will pass and go unnoticed? Very sad and I discourage anyone to use this vendor, as you may end up with a very pretty cake on the outside, burnt cake on the inside, and still charged the same price. read more

Well where do I begin. I was given this persons name through Santa Anita Golf Club in Arcadia Ca. I asked on a Weds morning if they could supply the event for Friday coming up. I was told not a problem. I asked for a design for the chocolate dipped oreo's with a tag stating who it was from. I ordered approx 14 doz. when I arrived at the event the presentation was fantastic. The tag for each individual cookie was no where to be found on the cookie or in the box. I called the company and stated if I owned the company I would have an employee drive over and bring the tags to put on what was purchased. They never showed up to correct the situation. So I hope in the future they pay attention to DETAIL. I don't mind paying for the cookies but I do mind paying for tags that weren't put on the cookies. So I believe a refund is in order. Thank you. The cookies were fabulous just the detail was off for the tag!!!! They did the order on short notice and for that and cookie presentation I will give a 4 star approval they get a five star if the tags were placed on the item.!!! read more

The best advertising for a baker is being chosen to provide the cake for a big event, like a wedding. You'd think that you'd present the best of what your business offers since so many eyes and taste buds are watching and tasting. Well, that's not how Modern Mayhem views it. How does this business still have customers? Recently, I attended a wedding where MMS provided the cake. While the cake looked great on the outside, IT WAS THE WORST CAKE EVER ON THE INSIDE!! It wasn't fresh and sponge-like. It was burnt on the outside and covered up with frosting. I guess Michael thought nobody would notice. Is he that stupid or just deceitful? Maybe both. He did care..... about cashing the check and nothing else. If anyone uses his services after all the negative posts, then be prepared for some of the worst cake you'll ever eat and the baker's attitude to match. My understanding is that he has not returned calls regarding his crappy cake so let the mighty keyboard be the weapon of choice. PEOPLE: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! read more

This shop in pretty AMAZING!! My first time ordering a birthday cake and what I got in return was INCREDIBLE!!! Their baker is very artistic and one can tell that he or she takes pride in their work. Not only are their cakes gorgeous, but they are also delicious. I was quoted over $200 for a 14 inch cake at the well known bakery in Ontario and Rancho. To my surprise, Modern mayhem was able to make exactly what I wanted for almost $100 less !!!!!!!!!! Michael, the owner/chef truly appreciates a person's business and he makes sure his customers are completely satisfied!! I wouldn't be able to rate the cake since the owner never contacted us back. We had an initial meeting with Michael and he said he was set to do our wedding cake. When my fiancé tried to follow up and contact him(which was many times), he never returned the calls. No big deal if you're busy and can no longer fulfill our order...just respect people's time and let them know you can't do it. If I could zero stars I would. Modern Mayhem was a suggested vendor for the venue we chose at our wedding scheduled August 2015. I had started planning over a year in advance having scheduled an appointment with Michael back in October 2014 for a meeting date mid January 2015. I realized 2 weeks before the appointment my planner booked Michael for an all day event rather than a specific time so I called to confirm the appointment. I made 3 attempts to Michael up to one day before the appointment leaving messages each time and no return call back. I now have to find another artist. It's a disappointment because I could have had this task done and over with but decided to wait because I really wanted Modern Mayhem to be the designer for our wedding cake having seen his work at our venue's wedding photo album. I'm sure I would have been satisfied with his work on our dream cake but will never know because he flaked on me. My fiancé and I are extremely disappointed. read more
