The installers didn't show up on the first day they had scheduled. Then they were late the next day that they said they would arrive at a certain time. The installers were very inconsiderate - they used a power saw so close to the electricians vehicle with no consideration that the sawdust was flying into it. They wouldn't call their boss to find out where the baseboards were. They said they didn't know how to transition the floors from hardwood to carpet. Then they would act like they don't understand my English. I had to call over and over for someone to finish the job. They didn't fill in holes and seams of baseboards so the guy who measured my space came and finished the job. He also corrected a few spots that the installers didn't do right in the first place. Headache after headache for nearly 3 months from beginning to end. I would not refer this company for floor installation. Highly Disappointed read more

Stay away from this place. We had them come out to repair some gaps happening on our luxury vinyl plank flooring. I had a very poor experience with this company. The estimator came out, did a quick measure, and I received a quote within an hour. The quote was very high (twice that of another company who bid the work), but our job is complicated, and after some discussion and negotiation on price I decided to work with this company. I asked to have the person who would actually be doing the job come out before I hired them to make sure they were competent to do the work with the type of carpet and installation we had. The installer came out and seemed to know what he was doing. I had to wait some time for the install date, and when it was near, the company told me that the guy had some kind of emergency and could not do the job, so they would have to reschedule with a different installer. It was then that I learned that none of the installers actually work for this company. They just sub everything out. I agreed to work with the second company, but with reservations since I still had concerns about the complexity of the installation, and they had not come out and seen the job. They were supposed to come on a Wednesday and do the job in two days. Then they told me that they couldn't come on Wednesday but they could come on Thursday but would finish everything in one day. That seemed like a stretch, but I agreed and asked that they still deliver the carpet on Wednesday since I had already made arrangement for that and I knew if they picked it up on Thursday we'd lose half the day on the delivery. The people who delivered the carpet severely scratched my driveway with their truck, which I now have to deal with, with these people. The next day the installers did come out, but they did not bring tack strip with them (what company does not come prepared with basic items like this?). They said they would have to go get some, but they would have one guy start the work. They went outside and I waited for a while for the guy to come back, but he didn't. I looked and they had both left without even saying anything to me. The company later called and said that the installers weren't comfortable doing the job so they just left. They would now have to reschedule with someone else again. They said that a guy who worked for the first installer who was supposed to come would be out a few days later to do the job. I again expressed concern. Not only was this someone again who had not seen the project, but he wasn't even a lead installer. They assured me he was very experienced and would have no issues. The day he was supposed to be here I waited and tried calling the company and could not reach anyone. They later called me and told me the installer wasn't answering his phone and they couldn't get ahold of him and they would have to refund my money and I'd have to start all over and find another company. read more

My husband purchased our vinyl planking from LL Flooring along with all the trim and supplies needed to install new flooring. They contracted with Modern Flooring to do the installation. We were told they would start on Monday, and be completed by Wednesday. On Mon, the installer, Jess, showed up. Jess said he was supposed to have more than one person apparently but are short handed like most businesses are right now. No worries! He went home early on Monday after ripping half the carpet out and installing a portion of the floor saying it was too dark to continue. What installer comes without a work light?? He came back Tues to continue, left early again telling my husband he won't have it done until Thursday. Still, not a huge deal, I took 1/2 day off work and my husband took the 2nd half off work. Mind you that during this time, our house is torn to bits. Although Jess took the carpet, pad, tack strips and put them outside in our driveway for hauling, he failed to do ANY other clean up work as he progressed. By Wednesday, I was livid. I called modern Flooring, had to leave a message about the mess, and NEVER got a call back. Every.single.piece of scrap, nail, glue, boxes the flooring came in, everything except the carpet that was ripped out was left in the middle of my new living room floor. Jess used his saw inside the house!!! I expected some mess, dust, and that I'd have do some cleaning, but this was ridiculous!! Why did they not tell us to cover our furnishings and kitchen area? Our house is not that big and we resided in the house while installation took place. Jess, and his boss knew this. His boss came by to check on him periodically but did not interact with us at all. My husband kindly brought in a huge industrial garbage can, a shop vac, broom and dust pan. This guy never used the shop vac or the broom. Can got filled and instead of hauling it out, he continued to dump garbage next to it. By Thursday, Jess still wasn't done.Neither my husband or I could take any more time off work so he said he'd be back on Saturday morning. When the job began, we told Jess that new furniture was being delivered on Sat. He told my husband he'd be back early. On Friday morning, I walked out to my living room and saw all the garbage this guy left all over my living room, hallway, stairwell, and had had enough. I did all the clean up and hauled out everything myself. I also did all the wipe down of the floors. We had expected the garbage would be hauled off by Friday after my husband was off work. They didn't come to get all the garbage out of our driveway until until the following Tues! !! Jess showed up on Sat morning just after the furniture guys got here and finished up after my husband told to do his sawing OUTSIDE. Duh. Jess finished up within a couple hrs and never said a word to anyone when he left. We NEVER GOT A FINAL WALKTHROUGH! The flooring is wonderful, but the trim work was very shoddy. My husband has go back thru and fix places he didn't do correctly. We were just happy to get him out of our house. I will be adding pictures to this review later. read more

We hired MFS after getting several quotes that were off the charts expensive, or didn't include the bathroom subfloor that we knew was going to need to be replaced. Although we had to be very hands on from purchasing flooring and supplies through Floor & Decor, the overall experience was excellent. The young crew who came in and demo'ed, did so in just a few hours and blew us away by having the entire floor done in one day. Still can't believe that. Samm with two m's is awesome. The crew was concerned about the couple of uneven spots in our subfloor, Samm and another Project Manager (Igor?) came out to verify we were OK to proceed. We were and are fine with a couple of squeaky spots in the subfloor, can't be helped with a house like ours that has a decent amount of expanding/contracting and we assured them of that. Still can't get over how well these floors turned out, very happy with the final product! read more

What I like the very most about this company is their price transparency. Everything is itemized out to the smallest detail making their quotes very easy to understand. Perhaps rivaling this, is their responsiveness to phone calls or texting. I can always get a hold of someone or get called back right away. Everyone in this company is super, super, SUPER polite and when any issues arise they are quick to offer great solutions to keep your projects on schedule. I am very happy with the quality of the vinyl flooring install and the hardwood floor refinishing that was done. Professional customer service from initial quote inquiry response to follow-up after the project completion. We had a relatively small click laminate flooring project (less than 200 sq ft) so we didn't get a ton of responses from contractors compared to our larger projects going on, so Modern Flooring was one of three bids. All the touch points we had with employees were friendly and prompt. We were not treated differently because of project size, which was nice. Not the cheapest bid, but was able to schedule much sooner and provided a line item digital project quote. Installers were on time and asked questions as needed and even shaved down a connecting door as a courtesy since the new floor is higher. read more

We just finished a laundry room floor and stair project - both hardwood and tile - with this company and we are very happy with the finished product. A very high quality job. For instance, when they put our baseboards back up, they even caulked them, which I wasn't expecting. Zero stars, total lack of communication. No fault to the installers. The office has there crews running from one job to another. Picture BBs in a box. Our job was scheduled for three days. Day one, Wednesday crew showed up at scheduled time but we're pulled to go to another job.,they asked if they could come back later in the day. Called at end of the day saying they couldn't make it. Nothing done, Day two Thursday Showed up on time started job install tile on two walls of shower. Installer said he'd be back 7:00 following day. No call no show nothing. I called the office spoke to Vlad. He said he'd find out what was going on and call me back. No call back. I called the office again later in the day, left a message. No call back. It's now the weekend and I have no clue if someone was coming back on Monday or what? No call no show. Monday I call office finally get to talk with someone. I get a call from the foreman of the original installer and he's says he's on his way over. Great something is going to happen today. NOPE he gets a call from Vlad and is told he needs to go to another job. Again no fault to the installer he was very apologetic but he packed his tools and left. At this point I've decided I'm not playing Vlad's game anymore. Called office again and I'm receiving a full refund. I'm not sure how they run this company but it's not a good business model. TERRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE. The one Woman that I spoke to was very nice and accommodating. but the Sales reps or managers or whom ever dispatches the crews needs a bit of management training. This review is for work done on my home in Washington State, not California. Literally not enough negative STARS for this company. They did not state that I was to purchase some of the building materials prior to the SUB- CONTRACTOR, not their employee, came to our home. I purchased the tiles myself and they were to install them for me. The estimate they gave me included the required materials and a price for those materials. The representative I spoke to never stated that I was to supply the items and have them available at the time the work began, so I traveled with the SUB, to Home Depot to purchase the items. I did so believing the company would surely remove those costs from the estimate. They did not, in fact when I had a discussion with the accountant, David (who refused to give me his full name), he threatened to put a lien on my home. I then received an email from the owner of the company, MAKSIM Y NAZARCHUK, continuing to strong arm and threaten me. I made payment in full to them, including the price of the materials so there will be no lien and have a paid in full receipt. I never actually signed a contract with them but they contend that since I made a down payment, that constitutes a contract. We'll see. So, all of the information I am about to give here is all public knowledge and you as a consumer have every right to all of this information. I'm sure many of you just don't know that you have this option. Every Licensed Contractor in the State has a Surety Bond that you as a consumer can place a claim on up to $12,000 for the state of WA. in other states its a $15,000. Modern Flooring Services is no exception. You can see the License #MODERFS804BM at www.secure.lni.wa.gov/verify. It shows the BOND company as Western Surety Co. Bond account no.64934080. You can send them documentation you have at claims@cnasurety.com. The phone number is 605-782-2635. They are understaffed so it is best to email. You'll need to do this anyway to forward any documentation or pictures you have. If they did a crappy job for you or damaged your property in any way, you can contact the General Liability company. Houston Casualty Co. Policy no.H21AC86258-00. at casualtyclaim@tmhcc.com. to place a claim. Hope this helps. Word of advice, Check the Subs License # before they start work in your home to be sure they have a license and that they have Workers Comp coverage, otherwise, you are liable if they are hurt on your property. DO NOT make a payment to this company until you have the name of the Sub who is coming to your home, and you've checked it and have them put the Subcontractors name, business name and license # on the contract. Also, have them give you a Certificate of Insurance with your name listed as an additional insured. If they refuse to do it, go somewhere else. This helps you go directly to the insurance company should you need to place a claim. This is standard business practice for legit companies. read more

They came out quickly gave us a estimate that was amazing so we went with them and then day of services didn't show or call for 4 hours!! I had to call them and then they said they would call back before 6pm to reschedule never got a call back! I wrote several emails the first one was responded to but no others so I called and demanded my deposit refunded due to them breaking agreement !! At least I can say I got that back! So in the big picture I wouldn't of chosen them.. Because it set us back several weeks! read more

We are happy with the flooring. But not with some of the service. When the flooring was installed by Modern Flooring, we were told that that there would be a change order that would cost over $7000 dollars. I asked for a break down several times but never got anything from anyone. Cost of installation was $3000 and cost for pickup and transporting 25 sheets of 1/2 plywood was $4000. The Transportation cost seems high to me as plywood was going for $60 a sheet at that time and only had to be moved 10 miles. I think we were taken advantage of because flooring was already removed and told if we didn't pay change order, they were not sure when they would be back. read more

At every step of the job, Modern Flooring was professional, friendly, extremely detailed, showed exceptional craftsmanship, and genuinely cared for their customers. Updating my review after the project is completed. Overall experience is okay. It was easy to communicate, not directly with the contractors but there will be a person communicating the needs and problems through phone with you for the contractors. But after 4 days of project start date delay, they almost didn't meet the project delivery date that they promised. So we had to call and confirm with them to make sure we can meet the deadline because we were planning to list the house. 1. One of the fireplaces wall tiles weren't installed straightly. One side is far from the fireplace, while the bottom is close to the fireplace. So it doesn't look good. We decided not to ask them to change afterwards, because it causes more time. 2. The guy ripped off part of our hardwood floor when we asked him to adjust the floor tiles to be level to the hardwood floor, they sort of fixed it in a way using the extra wood we had, but not a very professional looking. If we didn't have extra wood, we would just have to have the ripped floor when Selling the house. But I would prefer this didn't happen at all. Working with contractors is not easy - communication is key, I wish I could communicate with the contractors directly when they were there, also you need to make sure you have more time and money planned for your projects. read more

Was assigned this company by lumber liquidators after purchasing vinyl plank flooring from that company. They gave me a beautiful looking floor, BUT the floor crackles like a bowl of rice krispies! In addition, the transition strips in front of my doors were installed too tight, making it extremely hard to open the sliding door. Modern Flooring did fix the strips, and the doors work fine now. However, they left the areas covered in dust and globs of glue on the floor. This was also the case with the initial install. Plus marks left on my walls. Also, in this time of covid, the installers, who didn't speak English, showed up without masks. read more
