I recently purchased my new (used) vehicle from MCM and I love my new ride. The staff was nice and helpful without being too pushy, but it is a car dealership, so some sales tricks are to be expected. The vehicle is great. It had very low miles, a lot of extras and looked brand new. I have had no problems with it at all and have no qualms about my purchase. I have only a couple comments that I feel others should know so they don't get tripped up themselves... (1) One of my biggest issues that I voiced repeatedly to my sales person and to the finance manager was that I wanted to be sure once I filled out the application that my credit report was only going to be run once, as I did NOT want a bunch of "hard inquiries" on my credit report because I was also looking to buy a house in the near future. I was assured repeatedly that the process only included the dealership running my credit once and then submitting it to the banks/lenders for their review and approval for the loan. That was not the case. Not only did my credit report get hit more than once, but a total of 8 times from different potential lenders!! Of course I didn't know about this until about a week after the purchase. That in itself really did piss me off. Be honest with your customers! Honesty is the best policy and is what keeps them coming back. (2) The sales woman I dealt with didn't know nearly as much about the vehicle as she lead me to believe. Some of it was no big deal, but the cincher for me was I asked her if the vehicle needed premium gas. She flat out said no... Again, it wasn't until a couple days later when I went to fill up my first tank of gas that I discovered that it, indeed DID take premium. Talk about a difference in the price of gas... literally and figuratively speaking. So, do I feel burned on the purchase? No. I like the vehicle, the price was fair and the staff has been nothing but nice to me during the purchase, and since, to include working with their service department for my first oil change. The give good customer service and make you feel "at home". Do I feel that there was misinformation and manipulation in the works to "make the sale"? Yes. But, unfortunately that is part of the business of used car sales. Would I return to purchase from them again. Yes... but I would arm myself with my own research and information on the vehicle and would call them out on the only one inquiry on my credit. All in all, the purchase was solid, the staff worked to get my business and has followed up several times since to check how the vehicle is doing and sent coupons for discounted services. Educate yourself in advance on what you're purchasing and all will be good. They haven't been in business for 20-something years by giving bad customer service. read more

I bought a used car from here and they said that the car works great and that they inspected it in their own garage. I bought this car as a fresh 20-year-old woman and during the buying process two grown men were pressuring me to buy and saying a bunch of meaningless jargon to confuse and stress me and they had me give them a 5-star review before I even left the lot. I asked them about a sound I was hearing and they assured me their in house mechanic took a look and it is spick and span, well about 3 months after my purchase the sound started progressively getting worse, I took it back to have them look at it and they said it seems to be the transmission but can't do anything about that unless I want a full replacement.(and quoted me about 6K-10K, which is more than half of what I paid to begin with) Long story short, this place sucks and I wouldn't recomend buying anything from them unless you want to get swindled. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but everything my wife and I have gone through with Modern Classic Motors needs to be shared with the public. After signing our contracts one for our new rv o n e for our truck, we were originally told the truck we were buying "just needed a few things topped off and new tires." A week later, that story changed -- suddenly they said they were putting in a whole new engine 15 k plus in repairs. We had already traded in our other vehicle, so we were stuck waiting a month and a half without a car. Every week we called and it became "they are putting in a new engine, it'll be ready for sure next week", next week comes. "Oh no it'll be ready next week" When we finally got the truck, I brought up how wildly the story had changed. The manager, Jose, brushed off my concerns and repeated over and over that I should "be grateful" because they replaced the entire engine. I have several recorded phone calls with my sales rep and jose that they were putting in a new engine, that the truck was going to be like brand new so we waited. My lawyer informed me that we could've gotten out of the contract, because we were never told up front that the vehicle supposedly needed a new engine but gave them rhe benefitof the doubt. Here's where everything completely fell apart: We drove 800 miles to Oregon and the truck broke down. Strange, considering this "brand-new engine," right? We asked for proof of the engine replacement for weeks. They refused repeatedly giving excuse after excuse. I finally tricked their mechanic to send the repair invoice -- and that's when the truth came out: There was never a new engine. All they replaced was: DEF system Turbo Tires Fluids That's it. Nothing even close to what we were told. We took the truck to two separate mechanics. Both confirmed: There is bad rod knock (which that sound was there since we drove it off the lot), There is definitely NOT a new engine, And there were loose screws everywhere, like the engine had been yanked apart carelessly. My primary mechanic -- one with 5 stars on Google and known locally as one of the best -- told us there is no possible way the dealership didn't know about these issues unless they were blind. He also found even more damage once the engine was pulled scorched walls etc. Now we're on month three without our $70,000 truck, after having it for only two weeks, and we're already $15,000+ into repairs on a vehicle we were told was good to go and had a brand new engine. We've filed complaints with: CFPB Attorney General BBB Not a single person from Modern Classic Motors has reached out. No apology. No accountability. Nothing. On top of all this, immediatly after signing the contract, they pressured me and my wife into leaving 5-star reviews before we were even allowed to drive the truck off the lot. Hostage truck for reviews, which makes sense why their reviews are so high because theres no way this is a one time thing. That should've been a huge red flag right there. Jose, the manager, even tried to gaslight us into believing all of this was somehow our fault. Honestly, the only fault we had was trusting this dealership to operate with basic honesty and morality. If you're considering buying from Modern Classic Motors -- please learn from our experience and mistakes. This has been a nightmare, financially and emotionally, and we're still dealing with it. Back in 2012 I was shopping for a 2012 NIssan Murano but figured I could save money getting a used 2011 instead but they wanted to charge me the exact same price as the new one so I walked out and eventually bought my 2012 brand new from a Nissan Dealership in Utah with the exact model, features, black cloth interior and merlot red exterior color I wanted! The only positive thing I can say about Modern C.M. is that they do offer a car search program that most dealers don't offer at all but from what other reviewers have stated, it would be a good idea to take the vehicle you're considering to buy to a trusted mechanic to look it over before you go through with the purchase! read more

First time buying a car; salesman took my down payment over the phone and didn't reveal the APR even though I asked before giving the down payment. Only said it was low considering my credit of 730, but it was really almost 20%. Salesman was eager to get rid of this car that he came to my job (1 hour away from the dealership) and drove me there. I told him I could go next week but he used pressure tactics to make it urgent to go. Finance manager had me sign paperwork electronically. On the 6th page was the APR but it was titled something different. Again this is my first time buying a car and I was searching for the words APR which were not there. I walk out with a car and I have a very bad sense of smell. Relative said it smelt burnt. One month later all the oil is spilled under the car. Dip stick had ZERO OIL. Costed me close to $1000 to repair. They never told me it was leaking oil over the engine. Do not give these people your hard earned money. I purchased my car through them. Not even a week after purchasing my car it had a check engine light come on. It was my turbo. I was told to bring it in. When I did they were in no hurry to work on my car, they said they changed the turbo. A couple of weeks later the check engine light came on again. Once more for the turbo. I took my car to them five times for this issue, even though they claimed to fix it, they never did. Last week I had a catastrophic failure in my car, oil shot everywhere. The reason was yep the turbo!!! Now I am having to pay for a massive repair because these guys didn't do their job. Stay away from this dealership. read more

Went in to trade my car for a cheaper vehicle. At first they were nice and I filled out a credit app. Which means I was pretty committed to getting a vehicle from them. The plan was to look at few vehicles and get an offer on my trade. After filling out the credit app I test drove 1 vehicle. When I got back, they immediately kept asking what it was going to take for me to take that car home today. They didnt offer for me to test drive any other cars (like the original plan). After i told them 3 times i wasnt taking that vehicle home until i test drove some more cars, did some research and got an offer for my trade, they walked me out the door and I was left with no plan. Terrible. I purchased a vehicle outright from this place. They signed over the previous title, previous owner, not the current title. Elementary error from so called professionals. Went to DMV and couldn't title/register vehicle because of this. Lucky for me, lovely lady at DMV got on the phone with Custom and demanded they bring the correct title. If I could rate no stars that would be generous. I have held off writing a review for a long time. I should've been worried from the get go being asked to write a review while actively working with a salesman hadn't even closed a deal yet. Anyways ended up financing a 2015 Chevy equinox LT. credit wasn't fantastic by any means did have to put about $2000 down. Vehicle worked great for about a year had MCM mechanics do my oil changes since they offered gap on the vehicle that covered all my oil changes. First major issue vehicle dies on me engine sputtering. rear main seal failure. Luckily my power train still had a warranty. Same day I take it home less than 3 miles engine light comes for what they diagnose as an o2 sensor issue so about 2 more o2 sensor fixes I'm driving to work and once again I lose all my oil to a rear main seal failure not even a whole 6 months later. I take it back to the service center they tell me the rear main seal is leaking again plus my timing chain is loose. Service advisor calls me and tells me that it would be cheaper to put in a used engine with 77k miles on it and wants me to pay 7000 not willing to work on price. I decided it was time to give up on the vehicle and see what the dealership could do for me and sales manager won't even come talk to me and the salesman wants to try to push me into a 3rd car loan but they won't take back the lemon they clearly sold me. I would suggest take your money and head down to a dealership who has your best interest in mind because mcm has no interest in fixing their problems. Trish actually had the audacity to call me for a week I finally decided to try and work with her left my number with the call service and she never attempted to call me back so if you hear the ad about having the most fun buying a car look elsewhere because the only person having fun is having it at your expense. read more

Immediately impressed, but I wasn't optimistic it would be in my budget. They ignored to share the fact that my automatic car has a manual transmission, the dry clutch is going out. Then when we took it in to get looked at they said it would take $100 an hour to look at but only take an hour. They have had my car for a week. I tried to get in contact with them, first they didn't answer, then i was on hold forever, then they said they would call me back and I have heard nothing. First time was great, that's why I went back, and it haa been a terrible experience. One month after I got the car, the check engine light came on, I messaged the salesman to tell him, he told me to contact service dept but they had closed early so I called Monday. They tried telling me that it was over the 30 days from date of purchase (which it wasn't) The fuel pump went out, they billed it to the warranty and billed me the rest. They told me it'd be ready by a certain day, I called on the day they told me and they said the part hadn't even come in yet. No call from then to inform me on the situation. I purchased a car from them a year ago and it had nothing but problems since I drove it off of the lot all because they don't do safety checks and do not do quality repairs. They are all about short cuts and saving money and believe the person buying the car causes the issues. I test drove a car during the day asked the car salesman (the Owners son) if there were any know issues. He told us if there were any problems within the first 30 days they would be glad to fix them including getting me a spare key. The next day I drove it home and there were no headlights in the vehicle. So I took it back and could not fix it right away because they had to order the headlights. I then said there is no horn. No jack and no spare tire. They told me they had to send it to lia to get the horn fixed. Kia did a safety check and found the right axle was damaged and needed replaced. This is only 2 days of owning the vehicle. Then it got back to modern classic motors and they said they would not replace the axle and of course the bosses son conviently ignored the calls I believed the horn was working and the fixed the axle at a discounted price. I though things were good. It still made the noise so i took it back and they had put the wrong size tires on the car so the corrected that issue. Then there were no bulbs in the high beams so they corrected that. Now a year later and I found out they rigged the horn to work so I would be happy not correcting the real issue they had put on an after market horn assembly and now 2500 later I have to pay since they knew the problem and didn't want to fix the issue when I asked them to read more

They have treated me well from the beginning, through the length of my time owning the Toyota Avalon, and now I have bought a Ford Explorer. It's a more complex car then the Toyota Avalon. So it has more things that have to be addressed. It also had more mileage on it than the Toyota. I am not one to write negative reviews as I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and opportunity to make things right when they have wronged me. I am a single mother that has been working on building my credit to purchase a home. When I went to modern classic motors I had a very clear and specific conversation with my salesman regarding my need for no more than one credit inquiry. Chandler, the young eager sales rep assured me that my credit would not be ran more than once and that integrity was at the core of how they do business at the dealership. He assured me that he believes in taking care of people as though they were family so I trusted him and proceeded with the purchase of my vehicle. To my dismay the dealership ravished my credit with ten credit checks, dropping my score from 750 to 650. Three months later I am still at a significant loss. I have contacted Experian as well as every credit bureau in an attempt to resolve this issue and massive fail play and betrayal of trust. The bureaus all informed me that there is nothing they can do and my best bet is to address it with the dealership directly. I did just this and called the Business manager Brian Barnholt. Brian spoke with me briefly last week and said that he would see what he could do, a week later I've called and left several messages with no returned call. I then emailed only to receive a brief email saying he can't do anything about the checks and to reach out to the sales rep (whom I've already expressed I do not trust) concerning the massive service issues I have with my vehicle including a fuel leak, tires that exploded within the first two weeks of purchase and the front end of the car dropping to the ground... to say I'm disappointed and deceived is an understatement. Further, I discovered that many of the great personalized features could not be programed or accessed without the presence of 2 admin key. I contacted them about this but they did not return calls to me or answer a letter. I even offered to pay their cost to have a new key programed (expensive), but, nothing. Unlike modern classic motors I will save your of time and only hit on the worst of it. THE LIES!!!!! so I found a five speed manual transmission, 5.9 hemi, and working out of a truck as well as hauling water, it was the truck that I needed. Bent over backwards to make a deal with these people, already had my own money, and from the very jump every single thing they told me was a lie. The condition that I bought the thing, the oil pressure gauge didn't work, I wanted it fixed as well as the basic inspection they give. they came in said yeah we figured it out it was just a sensor, told me they fixed it, week or two later I get a call and they say hey your oil pressure gauge and your switch is here. I said well now I think you have a mistake they told me that was fixed already. Checked out and they are just rigged it to appear to function, that was a lie. next, they told me that they did my brakes and gave me an oil change, because it was a recent trade-in and it was part of what they do, that again was a lie. Took it somewhere else to have the stuff checked, there was an old out of date date in sharpie on the oil filter. They are liars. My brakes were never done, I had to bring it back and make them do it, which they tried to charge me for. That again was a lie. Then they finally got me in to fix oil pressure switch, I also asked for an alignment and tune up.... they said that even though Spark plugs We're old and wires were no good, that they'd given me a tuneup. obviously, I was totally wrong in thinking that a tuneup consists of spark plugs, wires, and air filter. That that's not what a tuneup is at all. Once again a lie. then of course I never got the alignment, I never got the tuneup, I never got the oil change, or anything else that they said they would do because it was a recent trade in. even told me that they couldn't give me dealer tags because of some made up a reason, when I found out that they couldn't give me dealer tags because it was still registered to the guy who traded it in just a couple of days before I got the truck. this place is as dirty and full of shit as it gets, beware and stay away. The shit you hear on the radio about them being voted best. I'd say best in spewing crap! read more

I looked at the vehicles listed on their website, and selected a few that I would like to look at. I called and asked questions about the vehicles, and was never told that they were "mechanics specials" with junk titles. Modern Classic Motors is about 1 1/2 hour drive from my home. When I got there, I was told that ALL the vehicles I had selected to look at were in fact "mechanics specials. Tow aways. They ALL have junk titles" They do not run, and would take thousands to get them running. If this information had been posted on their website, I would not have taken the long drive on my only day off. Then, the salesman offered me a vehicle that was 5 times what I could afford. I refused their financing. He then told me to look on craigs list to see what I could find within my price range. They are such a disappointment. I waisted half a day and $50.00 in gas to find out that I had been lied to. I will never trust them after this. read more
