Not new to this place, but first time at this location. And as always, great experience! But, there were a few things with this location I didn't like as much as the Dana Park one I usually visit. It seems rather tedious to have to fill out a new patient chart at EACH location- shouldn't that be in the system, since I'm a regular of the overall establishment? Instead of informing me over the phone I'd need to arrive early to fill out the paperwork again, the gal at the front desk apologetically asks if I checked my email within the 2 hours of calling to make the appointment... no- I'm actually not glued to my device. So it was lucky I happened to arrive early as it was, having to go through the new intake paperwork again. They have a different selection of teas at this location, so it was refreshing to try a new blend! I always appreciate the relaxing, hot tea to-go at the end of each session. This location has much fewer chairs than others, and a much smaller space. I didn't like how the doors to the zen room lead directly in- the dark, tranquil hallway is WAY better, because it totally interrupts your session each time that door is opened for someone coming in/out- especially if you are stationed near the door- that bright light really does mess up the meditation & relaxation. But inside the zen room is nice, it being a little smaller than what I'm used to. The ambience was a step up- loved the small wall lighting accents! But the acupuncturist in my session today was faster paced than the others I've had. Seemed to be a little hurried, so I actually felt more of the "sticks" & it wasn't as relaxing as other sessions I've had at a slower pace. I also felt like it was a very SHORT session. It usually takes about 45-60 minutes total from the time of arrival... I was done in less than 30 this time. So it was like RIGHT as I was relaxing to the point of pure tranquility- she comes back & starts removing the needles. I absolutely love the treatments! But I just feel like this location is somewhat lacking in comparison to the others. There could be some minor improvements with what I mentioned. And I also was curious why this one recommends I be coming in DAILY for treatments, while the other one set me up on a schedule of 2-3 times per week to start then 2/month to maintain. That seems WAY more reasonable than daily, not to mention affordability. Their packages don't exactly offer the greatest discounts, so being able to come as often as I already do is already a luxury I have to be frugal with. It is worth it, in my opinion. And I'll give this location a try again... it's closer to home, so convenient on the weekends.

Mayo/acupuncturist wears mask & gloves As for acupuncture process, I tried it about 25 years ago, after falling during a hike & injuring my lower back. And that's the last time I used it! Mayo put me at ease right away & asked me why I was there: oh ya know the world is imploding :) Stress/anxiety/tension! She inserted about 15 tiny needles in me. I only knew the Yin Tang point (between the eyes) b/c a friend said that's primo spot. She informed me she'd leave them in for @ 40 minutes but come back to check on me. The Acupuncture Room emanates a peaceful vibe: white billowing curtains, white-sheeted chairs, and white noise plays in the background, as well as soothing music. Maybe 5 other people were there at the same time? Again all masked & socially distanced in their chairs. I didn't get sleepy or even relax really, but it was my first time. One of the needles fell out almost right away when I was shifting around in my chair. I couldn't exactly yell out & was disappointed that Mayo never came back to check in, until the end. It would have been nice if she had b/c she could have reapplied that one. At the end when she returned, she advised me on how often I might visit, explaining acupuncture works best as a cumulative process. Overall, congrats on providing this healing modality so that it's more affordable/available for everyone! I'm a huge fan of treating mental and physical health challenges with both western and eastern medicine. When Mayo told me she was a one-woman show, I was even more in awe: managing many clients, at one time, in a communal setting, while charging on a sliding scale. Wow! Thanks to both Erin & Mayo.

Accutane was wrongly prescribed when I was 18 and it changed my skin for the worst and hasn't got better since. Judita figured out that i have to much heat in the stomach and my body is just working over time and this is what is causing my acne and acid reflux. As a senior, I do my best to avoid the usual physician's solutions--more drugs. I admit to seeking this with some skepticism. It was easy to schedule an appointment with Dr Quan who is located conveniently (with parking) in the back of a chiropractor's office. I was questioned extensively about my symptoms before being led onto the acupuncture table. I had some anxiety wondering about needle pain, which turned out far less than I imagined. (I would describe it as similar to doing a finger prick for diabetes testing.) Dr Quan begins sessions with very deep, specific areas of massage before inserting needles. Electrical stimulation is added as was an overhead heat lamp. It was not uncomfortable and I was able to relax for about 30 minutes, listening to the soothing music. There was additional massage over the spots once the needles were removed. Frankly, I left the office not feeling very different. My shock came that evening when I was getting ready for bed, about to take the usual pain medication and noticed I wasn't feeling the usual level of pain. The nerve pain seems most noticeable as I try to fall asleep and I would awaken with pain during the night. I went to bed, slept over 8 hours and awoke energized. I'm not sure if the acupuncture is also encouraging my sleep, but the normal sleep and lessened pain is definitely contributing to my well-being. I feel more rested, energized and productive. I am unsure if Dr Quan accepts any insurance, but is fees are reasonable. I'm certainly seeing improvement so I'm glad I tried this treatment.
