The first thing we noticed was the staff was very welcoming and friendly - they do a nice job of greeting you and getting you to your seats. The venue is very intimate, and they leverage that by getting the guests to greet the people around them. We liked the timing/length of performance: 7:30 to 9:00. We had plenty of time to have dinner before, and got home at a reasonable time. The play was wonderful and the acting was top-notch. They do a nice job with their limited stage size and sets. We'll be back. Great place to take out-of-town guests when you've run out of golf & hikes with them!

One can sit very close to the artists, whether the concert is in the Plaza Palomino courtyard or in the adjoining indoor venue (the latter is great on hot summer nights, since it's air conditioned). This results in a far better experience than at larger venues. There almost always is a free raffle for a CD from the performers. Occasionally other prizes are given out as well. Who doesn't like a freebie? If you buy your ticket in advance there's a $3 savings. Every bit helps! We've been attending Rhythm & Roots concerts for years and plan to continue for many years. Upon arriving, part of what I liked was that the theatre definitely gave off Arizona vibes with its Native American architecture. We sat at the upper level. Another thing I like is that it's an intimate theater. This means you'll have a good view pretty much from anywhere you sit, including in the back which is where we were. The seats are reasonably comfortable and we enjoyed the performance. During the intermission, I got a local beer which was reasonably priced for an event venue. All-in-all, a great experience. Support the arts! I joined their email list to keep up with the performances they hold throughout the year.

This was never communicated ahead of time--nothing on the tickets, no warning, nothing. I asked about a refund, and the on-site manager--who appeared very young and inexperienced--told me he'd have to "check with higher-ups." There was no attempt to resolve the situation or offer any real help. Just dismissive and unprofessional. Sure, I could have taken my purse back to my car, but it was parked over a mile away. That's not a reasonable solution once you're already at the venue and in line. Policies like this need to be clearly communicated in advance. Leaving people stranded at the door is unacceptable. Overall, a frustrating and poorly managed experience.

The music was fun and interesting but the dancing.....oh, the dancing!!! Afrobeats, uplifting and lively! The kind of dancing that puts a big smile on your face. The actors of Fela are very talented and held the audience's attention through every number. I was especially impressed with the woman who played Fela's mother. Her strong voice was at times haunting but always beautiful. The lead actor who played Fela involved the audience with some dancing, clapping and several "yeah, yeah"s. So much fun!! It was fantastic to have Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child as part of the cast. A special shout-out to our Yelp CM Bella for scoring a few free tickets to this fabulous show.
