I've been coming to this salon for almost 10 years, and they do great work--which is why this…read moreexperience was so disappointing. I called on Tuesday to book a color appointment and was told the colorist was on vacation, with Friday or Saturday as the next available options. Friday didn't work for me, but I was told Saturday would also be available. I also would've been willing to change my Friday plans to make this all work out. I called back Friday afternoon to follow up and lock in a Saturday morning appointment, based on what I had been told earlier in the week. Instead, I was told they couldn't accommodate me due to the Butter & Eggs Festival. I also received feedback that calling at 3pm when they close at 6pm wasn't enough time, which didn't make sense given that I wasn't asking for a same-day appointment--I was continuing a conversation to schedule ahead. What made this more frustrating was that I was trying to work within the availability they had already given me, but the expectations kept changing. While they did offer Sunday and recommended other salons (which I appreciate), that wasn't the point--I was trying to book within the options they initially provided. After this, I actually called again because I had rearranged my schedule for Sunday, hoping to still make it work. At that point, I was told Monday was the only option available. Unfortunately, that no longer worked for me due to work and moving to another city. I also spoke with the manager. While she was apologetic, it didn't feel like there was much effort to actually find a solution. She offered a new stylist that probably wouldn't be comfortable doing highlight but invited me for a Sunday appointment consultation to get me in. She acknowledged that scheduling and communication have been ongoing challenges there, which I appreciated the honesty around--but as a long-time client, that was also difficult to hear. This appointment was meaningful to me. It was intended to be my last visit before moving, and this is a salon I've trusted for so many important moments--engagement photos, weddings, graduations, and even just times I needed to feel like myself again. That's why it's especially disappointing to be ending on this note. I've always tried to be flexible and understanding over the years, but this experience felt like a continuation of inconsistent communication and shifting expectations, without much effort to meet me halfway. I understand that events and staffing can affect availability, but clearer communication and follow-through--especially with long-time clients--would go a long way. I'm genuinely upset.

I hate to be that person who leaves bad reviews and starts conflict but I'm very disappointed and unhappy with the service Angelina provided for me. What I wanted and what I got are so different and I understand that it takes time to get the results you desire but when it's this far off that's a little concerning. I booked another hair appointment with the stylist I should have gone to and requested a refund from the owner- to which she replied that Angelina stands by her work and took the time and effort to do my hair so a refund is not an option. They did offer to tone my hair down for me and did give me back the tip I left. However I'm reluctant to have them go near my hair again. It just sucks that they have so much pride and they let that pride get in the way of satisfying their clientele. I could barely afford the hair I got as is and now that's 200 dollars down the drain on top of getting my hair fixed for even more money. I can't speak on any of the other stylists there but what I can say is do your research before booking. There's no hate or ill will against Angelina or the rest of the team. But I am really disappointed they couldn't swallow their pride and make things right :(

I used to be fine going to Super Cuts and crossing my fingers hoping my hair turned out how I wanted it. Fortunately, I don't have that problem ever since I started going to Jenny Bello at Mockingbird Heights. Her haircuts are consistent and she ALWAYS gets it exactly how I want it. Whenever I want to try something new she guides me through it because she's very current on today's styles. I've had it cut and colored and I've received many compliments from my friends. Best of all, she offers great product suggestions (that actually work, unlike suggestions I've received in the past from other hairstylists). As far as Mockingbird Heights goes, it's in a great location and I LOVE the decorations. It's a very friendly and welcoming environment. As easy as it would be to get my hair cut in San Francisco, I have no problem driving to Petaluma once a month knowing my hair is in great hands. Having great hair is well worth it! read more

I recently started going to Mockingbird Heights to get my hair done. I was commuting up to Santa Rosa from Petaluma and had been going to the same hair stylist for over 5 years. I was nervous to change over to a new stylist, but Jenny Bello made it SOOOOOOO easy! She knows what she is doing and will give you great advice if you aren't sure what you want. The last time I went in, I wanted to go red and she made my hair look better than I was expecting it to turn out! She is definitely going to be my hairstylist until she retires! She is young and hip and is very up to date on the latest styles, cuts and color. She is constantly go to classes and hair shows to stay current. I absolutely recommend calling Mockingbird Heights if you are looking for a new stylist and requesting Jenny Bello! At least give her a shot! She will make you never want to turn back! read more

What a held and cared for experience. You have your choice of beverage--hot or cold, from tea to champagne and then they drape you in a garment to protect your clothes. I have had my hair cut by Collette Burrows a couple of times--and each time it turned out to be more than a hair cut--she begins by having a conversation with me about what I wanted--then she washed my hair--a glorious massage of my head and a sensual experience of fragrances for my nose. After which she began cutting my hair to my specifications, and yet in a manner, shape, and form I couldn't have even begun to imagine--I walked out of there feeling more beautiful and wonderful than I thought possible from a hair cut and blow dry. No one else cuts my hair any longer. I recommend her completely. read more

2 words - JENNY BELLO!!!! I went to Jenny B after several other stylists locally. This review is for Jenny Bello. I was going to SF to get my hair done and was pretty pleased but it's an all day affair! I met Jenny through a friend of mine and decided to give her a try. Thanks to all the other positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to book an appointment at Mockingbird Heights. This salon is fantastic and I'm glad to add my own 5-star rating, as it's well-deserved. Jenny Bello helped me to donate my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. This process takes slightly longer than a regular appointment (wash, dry, measure and cut the ponytail, re-wet, cut again, blow dry and style). I never once felt rushed or that the process was taking up too much of her time. I brought in a picture of a 'do and she gave me a great variation of it. Will definitely book another appointment here! read more

I have lived in many states. One of the hardest decisions in relocating is finding a stylist. When I first moved to Petaluma I visited another salon and my hair was waked and damaged. My hair was choppy and had brassy white/blonde highlights. I found Jenny Bello. She had vision and hope. After a consultation, Jenny was able to come up with a spectacular plan for repairing and shaping my hair. The process took almost 6 months because of my previous experience. My hair now looks great. I have a cut and color that I adore. And the best part is that I am able to accomplish the style at home!! read more

I want to once again tell everyone about how talented Frankie Dente is. She is amazing. Over the pat couple of years she has made my hard to control frizzy, wavy dull hair shine w/ the right cut and the ability to make it easy for me to care for. Recently she stylized it, which I vowed to never let anyone do again. But the incredible Frankie did it and it is so easy to care for and compliments. What could be better for a 59 year old. Michelle is amazing. Let me first say that it is difficult to find someone that is excellent at both cut AND color(especially blonde). She is equally great at both. If you bring a picture she will give you the identical cut and color you show. If you are not sure she will steer you in a direction that will be perfect for you.
