I wanted layers with a clean, defined shape, not something too wispy or feathered. I have very fine, wavy hair and that just ends up looking frayed and stringy. She said she understood, but then she just picked up random pieces of hair and dragged the scissors along them. I've had a stylist do that before, and it resulted in exactly what I didn't want, but I tried to trust the process and let her finish the haircut. When she was done, it kind of seemed like she knew it wasn't what I wanted, and she told me that if I wanted it adjusted, I could just book a bang trim. I had somewhere to be afterward, so I really didn't have a chance to look closely at it before leaving the salon. It first glance, I thought I looked great. However, when I got home, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. I booked a bang trim for later that evening, and she seemed very annoyed when I walked in. It felt very tense and awkward. I again showed her my inspiration picture and tried to explain what I wanted. I had the haircut I wanted for many years, so I know it's achievable with my hair. I told her that my old stylist who gave me the layers that I loved never dragged the scissors like that, and I explained that I was really trying to achieve the type of layers I'd had in the past. I specifically said that if she didn't feel like what I wanted was achievable, I'd rather just leave it alone than have her cut more hair and make it look worse. She said she just needed to add more layers, but she did the exact same thing again, picking up random pieces of hair and sliding the scissors down them. She told me the it looked different than what I wanted is because my hair texture must have changed. It hasn't. I asked her to adjust my bangs and said I wanted them just above my chin, but she cut them to just below my eyebrows. I just FaceTimed with the stylist who used to cut my hair, and he explained that what she did is called slide cutting and that it's not how you achieve the type of layers I was asking for. He said any experienced stylist knows the difference, and there's no way she didn't understand that it wasn't what I wanted when I went back in. He thinks she just didn't want to take the time to do traditional scissor-cut layers. My hair looks horrible. It literally looks shredded when air-dried and very wispy, thin, and stringy when blown out. The layers are pretty short, and it's going to be years before they grow out. When I went back last night, I wish she would have just said she couldn't do it instead of doing more of what she knew I didn't want. It seems like Candice is a very skilled stylist who knows how to cut hair, so it really seems like she just didn't want to take the time to do what I was asking for.

But then the next time I made an appointment for a haircut, Luis was the only stylist available, for this morning when I would be in town. I would have preferred someone else. I made the appointment yesterday. Yet when i showed up he refused to cut my hair and accused me of lying., in the presence and hearing of another customer. Not one word of apology. He said it was not his fault. This is outrageous, he has egregiously violated basic rules of customer service and left me without a haircut, no other stylist was there in their store.
