Thai boba tea and Chocolate Churro Donut
Hannah H.

Finally got to try and visit the new Mochinut in Athens! What a fun and cool little place, it has a large seating area and everything is pretty open. The shop even has a fuse-ball table. I tried to Churro donut and it was an interesting texture, I typically don't like donuts but I'd try another flavor from here! It's a very fluffy but dense donut. The boba tea is also very good and comes in a unique packaging. They only have 6-7 flavors, but I can't wait to come by to again to try the coffee flavor

Came here because I was craving Korean Corn Dogs and this place didn't disappoint! Each one was crispy and hot when it came out so you know it's fresh. I really enjoy the half and half because of the string pull. They only have one sauce but it was still good. The mochinut a we're so soft and chewy. I think my favorite one was the chocolate but they were all delicious! The front desk lady was very nice and we made conversation. She said she drives 3 hours every day to work--the dedication! We went on a Sunday so the ambiance was very chill and quiet. Would definitely come again!

New menu! They have more than just mochi donuts.

I like the home style asian dishes. The dipping sauce for the chicken and rice is good. For the pork belly and that was tasty too!

Caramel churro, strawberry, white chocolate matcha

I went to mochinut last Friday which was a couple days after the grand opening. I purchased a caramel churro donut, a strawberry donut, a matcha white chocolate donut, and a chocolate beignet donut. The other two flavors available looked great as well. They do rotating flavors and from my understanding, will always have original available. It was very easy to order and I felt that the price per donut was very reasonable especially for something so unique and new for the area. I did not buy bubble tea but they had a few flavors available which all sounded very good and I would love to try it. The donuts tasted really good. Not overly sweet like a donut you would get anywhere else and the unique chewy texture was very pleasant. I will be going back again soon to try even more flavors and I can not wait until they add the Korean corn dogs to the menu.

Tried this place on a whim and it was awesome! The donuts were light and airy and the bubble drinks were refreshing.

One said they don't eat raw fish, another said they don't eat lettuce. None of the 3 acknowledged that something was wrong with what was served in the sushi bowl they prepared! 1. There was a lot of rotten mixed lettuce in our poke bowl. (black, rotted slimy) My wife complained, and showed all the rotten pieces she was having to collect on a side napkin. The two women shrugged, and said it came new from the container like that. Did she want a bowl with zero lettuce? Not really. That's not we paid for. We always get half sushi rice & half salad all the bowl places we like. I repeated that we buy a lot of mixed salad at the grocery, and it often does need some washing/ inspection to remove rotten lettuce pieces or sections. They shrugged. 2. When I asked about the salmon vs. spicy fish, my bowl maker shrugged and said she doesn't eat raw fish. (Do they know enough about sushi?) 3. My wife and I, who frequent many poke & sushi places, were amazed they would not take any responsibility. A 3rd worker comes in to work. We explained to him, confident someone must know it is not acceptable to serve rotten lettuce in a sushi bowl. He said, "Why are you asking me? I just got here. I don't know. I don't eat lettuce." 4. OK These 3 people have not been trained about acceptable food quality, much less sushi, which requires higher standards! 5. Details, this was about 90 minutes after the GA vs Kentucky football game, and we were the only ones in the store. Another family came, heard our ongoing discussion, and left. 6. Overall: pleasant place, and good ingredients and preparation EXCEPT for my wife's with multiple pieces and edges of lettuce that were black, slimy and clearly rotten. With ok lettuce, and better trained employees would be a 4 or 5.

You can honestly never go wrong with brown sugar as a flavor. I also tried the passion fruit milk tea with star fruit jelly. Definitely a new favorite, I was reluctant to try a fruit milk flavor but it was surprisingly refreshing! The caramel Hokkaido black milk tea was super yummy too and more dessert-like. You can't go wrong with any flavor here! Prices and sizes are fair and workers are super sweet.

They have a super impressive menu with the usual bubble tea offerings, fruit teas, Yakult drinks, and shakes, but they also have baked goods like muffins and donuts and banh mi! Like the other Ding Teas, you can customize the drinks to however much percent sugar and ice you'd like. The drinks are definitely not consistent and it depends on who is making the drink but I've always gotten pretty decent drinks. I was really impressed with their banh mi. I got the special combination banh mi and it honestly was better than a lot of banh mi's that I've gotten in Atlanta. Prices are pretty steep, but I guess that's inflation. There's ample seating in the Ding Tea with booth style seating along the wall and bar seats along the window. Decor was very simple. There's a lot of supplies visibly out though that kind of makes it look tacky. Music was also kind of loud, so I'd probably recommend coming here more for a take-out kinda deal. Overall though, I'd definitely recommend Ding Tea as a decent bubble tea spot in Athens!

However, I wasn't the biggest fan of our drinks. We got one drink that was sugar-free to accommodate our dietary needs, and it was not good at all. The passionfruit tea was pretty good. I would get it with less sugar because it's naturally very sweet. With that I wish they had more sugar-free options for those who need it and still want to enjoy a refreshing lemonade or tea. this spot is located right next to an apartment with very few parking spots in front. So I can't imagine how crowded it may get during busy peak hours. If you are not diabetic or you do not need sugar-free beverages then I would say it's worth trying. However, if you do have some dietary restrictions when it comes to sugar level, I do not recommend recommend.

I try to do my research and patronize businesses that I think will be good, but this is a new one…read morethat I was not sure about. Apparently this is a widespread international chain that originated in Taiwan, though I cannot remember seeing one before. I thought maybe they would be trying to pass off a low-quality product on a college town audience. However, I am pleased to report that it was as good as any bubble tea place I've been to in a while. My kumquat lemon tea came with delicious lychee jellies by default, and I experienced no difficulty or extra charge by opting for half sugar and half ice. These turned out to be good choices as my tea was just sweet enough and the little bit of ice was just enough to make my tea cold without wasting space. The flavor was quite complex and I enjoyed it to the last drop. Their tea menu is sizable and intriguing, and the people working here appeared to know what they were doing. Notably, they had waffles which smelled awfully delicious, but contrary to what my Yelptastic profile might suggest, I do not eat everything in sight, and I did not have room for a waffle. But the people who did get one looked happy.

I have been in Athens for almost a week now. I have enjoyed all the southern comfort food i have…read moreeaten but I'm ready for some Asian cuisine. My husband and father in law decided to grab pizza from Johnny's pizza next door. My cousin and I headed to Siri. I did check out their online menu before heading there. They seem to have your typical Thai food which is nice. Everything on the menu looked great! Lots of options to pick from. The venue itself is pretty. I love all the beautiful decor and how spacious it is. I got sat at a table while I was waiting for my cousin to head in. There was a huge rain storm and she needed it to pass before she could head in. I was told to order first and that she would order when she made it in. I got myself a Thai tea as I looked over the menu one more time. The tea was good. It was a little light on the spices and half and half but it was still good. I got some crab rangoons started. Back home, my go to meals are pad se ew, yellow curry, pad thai and rad na. On their menu there's a noodle dish that sounded similar to rad na. It's called lard na, wide rice noodles with veggies in a gravy. That's how you would basically describe rad na. I asked my server if it's pretty comparable and she said yes. So with her confirming I went ahead and ordered it. The crab rangoons were ok. They were really tiny. The filling in the middle was a little too sweet for me. It would have been nice to have a savory middle since the dipping sauce was on the sweet side. My noodle dish didn't come as I expected. There was a lot of gravy to the dish. The gravy acted like a broth. It was overwhelming eating that much gravy as a broth instead of having the gravy coat the noodles. The gai lan and broccoli was really fresh. The tofu was good. My favorite part of the dish was the wide rice noodles. But as a whole, it was ok. My experience here was decent. It was nice to branch out of all the southern style food and have some Asian cuisine. The venue is really nice and the staff was kind. It was cool to be able to mark off Thai food off my to do list in Athens.

Update: After…read moreposting my original review, management reached out to me very quickly and addressed my concerns directly. I appreciate the professionalism of their response and their willingness to investigate the situation rather than dismiss it. My original concerns remain valid. On two separate lunch visits, my order was either forgotten or delayed to the point that I ultimately canceled it and left. What made it particularly frustrating was realizing both incidents involved the same waiter. Even after I left during the most recent visit, my youngest daughter was still waiting on her meal. Management explained that they experienced equipment issues during the most recent lunch service, which contributed to delays. While that helps explain part of what happened, I still believe better communication with customers would have prevented much of the frustration. I also received clarification regarding the automatic 20% gratuity, which is their standard policy for larger parties and was removed immediately when questioned. What keeps me coming back is the food. The food at Athens Pho has consistently been excellent, and my experiences with the rest of the staff have generally been very positive. My concern has never been with the quality of the food or the restaurant as a whole, but rather with a recurring service issue that I felt management needed to be aware of. Because management took the time to respond professionally and address the concerns, I felt it was only fair to update my review accordingly. I will continue visiting, especially for dinner service, and I hope future experiences reflect the level of service and food quality that I know this restaurant is capable of delivering.

Another meh restaurant after being hopeful from social media :(…read more I went in with high hopes after seeing so many people talk about this restaurant and seeing the restaurant's tik toks! I love Vietnamese food and Vietnamese coffee so of course I had to try!!! The restaurant is pretty small but there is a lot of seating! The best part of the experience was listening to The Marias on the radio, I think that's the only thing that kept me sane. The bathroom didn't have any toilet paper and the floor was so sticky The price was high for the portions given for a to go meal. I paid $24 before tip for a grilled pork vermicelli bowl and a small Vietnamese coffee. I was honestly sad with how little I was given for a single meal. It was meh. I was only given fish sauce for my bowl, I'm used to seeing self service stations to add more condiments but I unfortunately couldn't grab any sriracha or chili oil :( I wish there was more veggies like pickled daikon and carrots. Meat portion and flavor was ok too, nothing remarkable. Disappointing but I was hungry. The Vietnamese coffee was pretty basic but had a very strong caramel flavor? For a small cup filled with a lot of ice, this drink was not it. I placed at 1:03 and was told it would be about 10 minutes, I got my food at 1:41. I don't think it was that busy in the restaurant and had gotten there before a group. I hate to be a Karen but this was a disheartening experience! Staff didn't really come to greet me, so I wasn't sure on where to go to order while they just stood at the desk across the room. I thought I would've received my coffee earlier but I had to wait for that to be made after I had finally received my food. I don't think it's worth coming here , I hope this was just my experience and no one else's!
