I had a very disappointing experience with Paws and Sniffs. I booked my 16-week-old puppy's first…read moregrooming appointment and was quoted $150. Then, about an hour before my scheduled appointment, it was canceled. The owner did offer to reschedule for the following morning. However, after the cancellation, I called several other groomers in the area to find a new appointment as we were not available the next day. Every groomer I spoke with explained that a puppy's first grooming is typically a gentle introductory visit with a face, feet, sanitary trim, and nail trim rather than a full groom. The quotes I received from multiple businesses ranged from $55 to $75 for that type of appointment. Based on that, I felt that the $150 quote I received was excessive, especially since the owner did not explain that a puppy's first visit is usually handled differently. I understand that businesses set their own prices, but I wanted to share my experience so other puppy owners can compare services and pricing before booking. UPDATE AFTER READING THEIR REPLY: I would like to update my review because the company's response does not accurately reflect what happened. From the beginning, I told them my puppy's age and approximate weight and sent pictures. I was initially quoted $200, but after seeing the pics, the price was reduced to $150. They also knew this would be our puppy's first grooming appointment. We never specifically requested a haircut. We asked to schedule our puppy's first grooming appointment. Then we were asked to send photos of what we wanted, so we did. At no point were we told that a first-time puppy appointment should not include a haircut or that they would not recommend one. As first-time puppy owners, we relied on their professional expertise. Since they knew this was our puppy's first grooming, we would have expected them to explain what was or wasn't appropriate. Instead, after receiving the photos, they confirmed the $150 price. I have screenshots of our text messages documenting this. After this experience, I contacted at least ten other groomers, and not one of them was willing to schedule a full haircut for a puppy's first grooming appointment. Instead they explained how they handle first time grooming appts. I also have screenshots of our text messages showing that we were never told there was a "medical emergency." Instead, we were told the owner woke up with pain and needed to reschedule the appointment for the following day. This cancellation came only one hour before our scheduled appointment. Which was to our benefit as we would have possibly traumatized our puppy with a full haircut when she wasn't mature enough for one.

I hadn't left a review at the time because of how upsetting my experience was. I'll keep it short, my dog's nipple was cut and bleeding as if no guard was used on the clippers. I understand haircuts won't always be perfect, but her sanitary area was shaved too short and the overall cut was uneven. When I picked her up, I didn't see she was bleeding until I saw blood on her bed. After I notified the owner, she suggested that my dog did it to herself (even though she can't reach that nipple and she was wearing a cone when she got home) and then suggested that it looked like a hickey (extremely bizarre comment to make). I know my dog well and how well she does when she visits groomers. Every groomer before and after her visit at Going Mutts has always said she is well behaved and have no issues while cutting her hair. Anyway, Going Mutts ended up refunding me for the grooming which I appreciated.

Edit: they typed up their prices yesterday after they read my review and they're effective. They…read moredid raise their prices. I can see why it took this much hassle for a strait answer and to get that answer on paper- This isn't a shelter. It's a pet store. The cost of kittens didn't go up 65 dollars each to justify this price tag because of "china" or tariffs or any comprehensive reasoning. 200 for 2 kittens???? Serious serious serious stretch. Unfortunately- the animals won't get adopted out at a rate they could and should be. Prices like this justify breeders! Are shelters supposed to profit? This says "profit". Thank you for generating a final price- but I have to question the fairness of what you're doing and why it took this inquisition to get it on paper only just yesterday. This price is now more expensive than what we were just quoted and is closer to the last two "mistakes". Was that punishment or what? I cannot recommend this place. They're inconsistent and didn't have official prices available until this unfolded. Tsk. This is ridiculous ladies. Regards ---------------------- A volunteer got back to me. Im aware that they have special events wherein prices GO DOWN but my adoptions haven't taken place during events. Still didn't get a straight answer but they want to talk to me about my review. I don't need to talk I just want a very simple answer. What is the current price ???? What is the current cost to adopt a cat ? Why can't anyone answer that????? Im asking for a number not an explanation. Just want to support a local shelter. Dont appreciate this hassle. First cat was 120 a year ago. Questioned about that you denied it and said 60 was the price despite the fact I already paid 120. April charged me 120. A second kitten was pushed at 100 - when I inquired about that on fb you corrected to 60 and INSISTED 100 was not the price. Inquiring since and you pushed again 100 most recently for a kitten. ladies. .... Post the price. On the register and on social media. Im giving you the solution. Post your regular prices next to your event prices to solve all potential miscommunication. Really appears like Youre pushing top dollar until confronted. Not good business. Regards

We thought she had hurt a hind leg and was just in pain. Doctors did X-rays and blood work. X-rays were good but the blood work showed an infection along with a fever. Docs put her on fluids for her dehydration and gave her IV antibiotics. After a couple of days in the hospital her fever was down and her blood work looked closer to normal, but she still wouldn't eat. We went out on Saturday night and spent about an hour with her trying to calm her and get her to eat. When we got there she had a petrified look and was scared to death. We were able to talk to her and pet her but still couldn't get her to eat. Doc said she might not eat there because she was so scared. We left her one more night for the fluids and antibiotic IV and a recheck of her blood work on Sunday morning. Temp was down and blood work was close to normal so we brought her home. After checking out the backyard and house she and our other cats all relaxed. She's eating and drinking like crazy now and just demanding attention. Everyone at VCA was great! I wish I hadn't needed to bring him in at all, but glad that since I had to, that it was here. My 15 y/o mix had been ill for some time. NOT HERE: First, we were told he had a mass, but most likely benign. I was hopeful and scheduled his appointment for a month out. He was not looking great, so I rushed his appointment to get it removed mid-June. They removed the tumor 6/24 but by then the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. He's been home and being taken care of. Yesterday he wasn't doing well... I took him to a different ER because it was "more affordable" - big mistake because 12hrs later and we had not been seen. Yes, I paid a little more at VCA, but now I see why.
