The poor reviews over the past couple of years are likely quite accurate. One pays a premium for Moceri Construction - and one expects quality construction and quality service. During the 'sale,' they couldn't brag more about their work and how they stand behind everything they do. Months later, we discovered that the 'brag' was necessary to close the sale because the facts were quite different. The price tag kept increasing as our project went on. There were only a few minor changes from the original project - but the final bill was significantly more than the estimate with no real explanation other than "that's just how long it took." Worse, though, was the follow-up. Once they had their money, warranty work was impossible to get from them. During the project, they had removed some big walls in our great room, put in some 20 can lights in the ceiling, replaced a ceiling fan, and more. There was a lot of work removing walls, cutting holes in the ceiling, and walking around in the attic atop the ceiling. When the ceiling in that area started cracking afterward, they claimed it wasn't their responsibility or fault. Every other contractor we spoke with - including our Moceri project supervisor (who had subsequently left Moceri), and the drywallers who were the subs on the original job - told us that, of course, the cracking was due to the Moceri job and Moceri should take care of it. Nevertheless, Moceri refused to do the repairs. We ended up paying a few thousand dollar to the drywallers who had been on the job to fix the cracks. Also, Moceri built us a brand new master bath shower from the ground, up. About a year afterward, we noticed that whenever we took a shower, the carpet in the adjoining closet (which they also built) got soaked. We wrote to Moceri (both Tony and Paul) on two occasions - describing the problem and asking for them to come look and propose a fix. What we heard in response? Crickets!! They completely ignored our contacts. Tony told me that he was getting out of the remodeling business because he was tired of having to deal with clients. That's completely understandable. When you overcharge and then fail to stand by your work, it is hardly surprising that clients would be upset. So to avoid customers, he told me that Moceri was going to just build new spec homes and sell them. Just remember, though, even new spec homes will have problems. And if you buy a new spec home from Moceri, let's hope they honor their warranty and are willing to stand behind their work. For us - that wasn't the case. Maybe you'll be luckier. read more

Moceri Construction turned out to be a big disappointment. We hired Moceri for an extensive renovation on our custom home. While the quality of the workmanship was generally very good, it became increasingly clear that the company was seriously overextended. Weeks-long delays with no one on site were common: These delays also seriously inflated the timeline and cost of the project. (For example: There was extensive scaffolding on site for nearly 8 months, when 2-3 months would have sufficed.) The departure of three key employees - including our project manager - compounded issues to the breaking point. After 20 months of on-again off-again work, Tony Moceri tried to put off the last 2 weeks worth of work until the summer of 2020.. even though he previously said he'd finish the project in the fall of 2019. When pressed on that point, he simply quit the project. Not only would he not finish the project, but he declined to honor some relatively minor warranty work. His dad Paul sent a carpenter to fix a couple of small things, but not everything - our brand new back steps are still sinking, but Moceri declined to make necessary repairs on those. Bottom line: Moceri does not finish what they start. They played us long enough to extract the big bucks, and then left us hanging - we had to hire another contractor to finish their work. We should have held back a percentage of the total job - but we trusted them. Our mistake, apparently. read more

As I write this, I am (once again) waiting for the workers who were supposed to be here two days ago to do some finishing touches on the deck work that began over three months ago. So it goes... This was our second job by Moceri, and it will be our last. Moceri seems to do quality work, but they are quite expensive. My greatest issues, however, concern timeliness and communication. Although the initial decking was completed reasonably promptly, several weeks passed before the work began on the railings--and even then, the railing company failed to order the correct railings, so we waited even longer. During this rail-less phase the (very high) deck was unusable and posed a distinct hazard to people and pets. What bothers me most, however, is that we never heard an apology for this delay--in fact, WE ended up having to call Moceri to find out when work on the railings would commence. We heard very little from Moceri at all during the entire three-month process, and when we did, the outcome was not always as indicated. For example, one time we were informed that the railing guys would be there the next day, when the glass was scheduled to be delivered. No show. I had to sign for the glass (which made me very uneasy), and then it sat on our front porch over the weekend while we were out of town. Again, very hazardous, and again I felt very uneasy. They don't take credit cards, and they'll bill you prior to actual completion of the job. read more

We've worked with Moceri for years and love them. Their work is by far the best in town and their employees really go the extra mile. They've helped several of my friends and clients as well from small remodel work to full home building. I really appreciate their attention to detail and how they go above and beyond. We built our new home with Moceri Construction, our fourth construction project and by far the best! We engaged Tony Moceri prior to buying the property, his counsel was invaluable and help determined our final bid for the property. Tony and our project manager, Saul Whitworth, were involved throughout the design process. Conceptual concepts were measured against costs, with the final product being a home my husband and I were eager to build and could afford. The construction process was a true pleasure. The team of experienced craftsmen were a joy to work with, creating many of our custom elements from a photo or sample mock-up. The team kept us apprised of decision timeframes, we were able to make the tremendous amount of choices in a well-planned environment. All sub-contractors were equivalent in skill and ethics; Moceri Construction has developed a strong relationship with the top providers in the area. And equal to the quality of our build, the project stayed on budget and on time. Any cost overruns were driven by us, the Moceri team was flexible and creative with the changes we wanted to make. We couldn't be happier with our beautifully built home. Moceri's support post construction was superb; all minor issues were dealt with immediately and under warranty. Tony and Saul have kept in touch since completion of our project; their customer service is outstanding. From the first design input to the final touch-up paint, this is the most outstanding team of professionals we have worked with. We highly recommend Moceri Construction!!! read more

If I could give them zero I would. I am very disappointed with Tony Moceri and the project manager, Neil, assigned to us. After meeting and having conversations with various people at this company for approximately 3 months planning the scope of the project, signing their contract, giving them a $10,000 deposit and waiting for them to start at the beginning of June, Tony Moceri emailed me a curt, vague response on the day we were supposed to begin work that he was walking away from the project because "there were too many moving parts" and he "didn't think he would be successful." Not only that, when early in the process they were asked to submit an estimate, they required information from my architect which resulted in over a thousand dollars of time billed to me by the architect. The original person from Moceri who I worked with and had discussed much of the scope of the project, mysteriously quit after I waited several weeks for him to return from vacation. Neil who supposedly picked up where that person left off, was defensive and a bully. I could go into a lot more details but this is probably not the right forum for it. read more
