Fixed well-worn scooter with much road wear. The owner was knowledgeable and very accommodating and all staff were friendly and helpful.

I was driving down Dempster on Friday night, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a sign that said…read more"Wheelchair Servicing." I told my partner we were going to see what that was, and I turned the car around, pulled into the small retail mall, and at the end of the mall was a business called, "Mobility City." We went in, and I was greeted by Geoff, the owner, and his service man who works on the wheelchairs. We talked a bit on what needed to be done on my wheelchair. The service man took it to the back of the store, steam cleaned it, tightened up the "wiggle," and replaced the two arm rests. A really great improvement for a tune up! Feels light new!! I was really impressed by his customer skills, and the eagerness he had for getting me back my wheelchair in tiptop shape! Quite by accident I found this place, and I'm very glad I did, because I did not think that there were any mobility Wheelchair stores in the area. The store is a modest size, and deals with a few different types of mobility services, including mobile wheelchairs WHICH ONE CAN RENT if need be! I am so glad I found this shop. The repair prices were decent, the replacement parts were affordable, and he was able to look at his inventory to see if other parts on my wheelchair could be replaced. I heartily recommend anyone who has mobility assisted devices to seriously check him out. I was very pleased with his service, and I now know if I need any parts for my wheelchair, he's right there to help.

The salesperson we spoke with was really helpful and they had several options to try out. They have various protection plans for service, and they also will pick up and/or drop off (I can't remember which) within a certain mile radius.

He had already tried that and it was worse than our couch recliner. She suggested that renting a powerlift chair might be helpful. It was on the pricier side, but the only other idea she had. Well, we thought about over lunch and just decided to just purchase a chair. Terri showed us the options and let us just try out the chairs on our own time. We never felt rushed. It was obviously more than we originally thought of doing, but we are sure we won't regret it in the future. The only thing that didn't make us happy, and why this isn't four stars, was the price tag. We picked the chair we liked best & thought the price was what was on the tag. There were options below the big price, like heat & massage, which were things that could be added to the base. Oh, but the material that the chair used was on that list (which we didn't realize because it was not a common name). It was not in the large number on the price tag and added $900 to the price. We didn't know this until we were checking out. We do not blame Terri for this, but the company that thought this was a good idea. The tag should have had the final price, before taxes & delivery not the base price if you could buy it off of the floor like we did.

No luck with that, we decided to call many different medical supply companies and Howard was the only responsive company that seemed genuinely interested to help us. We explained what we were doing and Camela was very thrilled when he heard about our charity and event. She was very nice and even suggested a scooter will be better if I want to move more freely on the pilgrimage. She was able to accommodate us in a very special way. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service from people who care.

She is doing well, still needs a cane but she cannot walk more than a couple of blocks. But, by god, nothing's going to stop her. "I am getting on Amtrak and coming to Chicago!" she tells you. My mother is nothing if not ballsy - or should I say "ovariesy?" I fret, "what are we going to DO with her? She can't keep up with us." This is where Howard Medical Company comes in. This place is the bomb! $15 per day gets you a 18" transport wheelchair (250 lb. weight capacity) - SO easy to fold up, has handles to carry it - fits into your Honda Civic tiny ass trunk. I talked to a woman named Bernie by phone - nice as hell - who says "we have plenty - no need to worry." They open at 8 am - I am there at 8:05 am - assisted by yet another wonderfully nice employee named Jim. He shows me how to fold it, adjust it, etc. This is too easy -pinch me, I am dreaming. I race home to our apt, Metropolis coffee in hand, and say, "Duretta Jean, get in the car - we are Chubby Girl walking at the lake!" Then to Target, then neighborhood strolling, then...oh the possibilities are now endless! A week I was once dreading has now become so much easier. Check them out!
