Brian has serviced my Craftsman 54" Riding Mower a couple of times. I have got to say, he is extremely knowledgeable and very efficient when it comes to isolating problems. This last trip the mower would not even turn over. I had checked the battery and voltages but no luck with my troubleshooting. He went through the entire wiring harness and tracked down the problem. He also proved his integrity as a service person. Can't ask for more in someone when you're looking for them to fix your problem. read more

This place is OK one day and horrible the next. I have purchased several saws from them and as long as you are buying something over several hundred dollars their nice. Try to buy a part and you might as well have a disease. If your an old customer you will be fine if you want some lowly part you may want to go somewhere else. I tried to get my chain saw looked at and they said $$ upfront, cash no credit card no matter if you were a previous customer etc. It just depends on if Bill is having a good day or not. read more

Neither I, nor my neighbor could start my Generac generator. We took it to these guys, and although the wait was a two weeks -everyone needs their generator working Now- I wasn't in a rush, so no problem. I received a call that it was ready on Dec 23, as promised, but was ill and could not pick it up. When I called the following Tuesday to tell them I couldn't get it until Thursday, and that it was unfortunate, because my power had just gone out, they insisted on delivering it to me at no charge. Not only that, but they returned most of my deposit, because it started for them, no repair was needed, and they charged only for the time it took to check it out. read more

I have used them in the past and they were great. Just called to see about getting my chainsaw tuned up and was told that it would be 3 weeks. The problem was not the 3 weeks but my problem was with the attitude of the person telling me that "ths is the way it is", that I "need to plan ahead" and given a sarcastic "WeeEEeell Good Luck!"(as though I won't find anyone else to work on it). I don't need the attitude. I find that usually you get a bad attitude, then you get a lack of attention to business detail i.e. websites, good ole boys lounging around in the store, then service quality drops and then poof!, they are gone. I used to work for a Chamber of Commerce where we had over a 1200 businesses as members. Ever single time I saw this pattern the businesses did not last. The appropriate action would have been for this company to "Plan ahead" and provide the proper level of service for the seasonal increase in volume. I doubt that I will ever go back 'cause I just don't need the attitude. read more

Placerville's Camino Outdoor Power has a sister Shop in Camino, CA. I bought a Stihl chain saw there (Camino store). From day one you'd pull the "start" cord fifty times and It wouldn't start. Since I paid over $400. for It, I figured they'd help me out. I took the saw to the store and explained my problem. We took It out side to their work area. The owner of the store told me to hold It. He pulled on the start cord about one dozen times and It started. He then said to me "you owe me $9.00". I said "for what"? He said for starting your saw. I told him after spending $400. for a saw that won't start, he could stick It. I didn't pay him and I haven't been back. I drive to the Placerville store. read more

I've been going to this store for many many years - like decades! Got a Husqvarna chain saw there about 10+ years ago - it's never missed a beat. New saw chains, sharpening old saw chains - quick service with a smile and a nice conversation. Prices are reasonable too - they sell quality tools/accessories. I brought a apiece of equipment in for repair. I was told it would be sometime before it would be repaired. It was awhile and some issues arose. I was very disappointed and upset. Here's the thing, they knew they were screwing up and fixed it. I don't mean fixed my equipment (which they did fix as well). They fixed the situation. That's what customer service is all about! I stopped here looking for generic size chainsaw files. The guy doesn't have them. I asked for generic file guide, no luck. Not a lot of dialog. basic supplies not in stock. I got the point that I was interrupting something. Not much equipment on display. Nothing like it was 20 years ago. Never go back. No wonder I usually buy online. I"ll pay extra and wait to avoid these people and eliminate these experiences that are hard to believe. In fact I will take this opportunity to say my neighbor brought a chainsaw here that needed repairs. They take it all apart, give him back the pieces in a box because they said it wasn't worth repairing. Why I even stopped here knowing this was my mistake. Just tried to buy some parts which Chris said he would have to order since he didn't have them in stock but if I needed them right away he gave me the names of some of his competitors that might have them. Great shop! Friendly staff and a great inventory in stock. I do all my own service work so I can't speak of there repair quality or pricing, that's the reason for 4 stars vs 5. Parts prices are what one should expect, saws are not cheap and neither are there individual parts. That said you can pick up a consumer saw for the same price as the big box stores or go all in a get a pro saw. Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a good little shop. read more

I have lived up in Garden Valley now for 20 years and I have been going to Camino Power Tool since that time. Yes, it has changed hands but the new owner is very good. I have purchased two chain saws, two weed eaters, blower and more chains than I can remember. The employees have always been helpful even remembering the equipment I purchased when I had forgotten. The new owner has had chain sales where you could buy one chain and get one half price etc. for me this is huge savings and I appreciate that. The guys that work on the equipment are well trained and have sage advice that I have learned and use. I met the new owner at the El Dorado County Fair and he is very down to earth, friendly guy. I have since interacted with the new owner at the shop and he is just as friendly and helpful as the day I first met him. I love this shop and I recommend this shop to anyone that has or needs high quality outdoor equipment. read more
