It's a great concept but the techs (not Andy) were not all that friendly and you need to know that the $110/hour will be PER TECH even though this is not spelled out anywhere on the paperwork. I've used these folks on several occasions over the years and they have been prompt, reliable and do excellent work. In all cases they fixed my mower and snow blower on the first trip and I have had no issues with either unit since. Their prices are quite reasonable and fair. If you are a competent DIY type of person who does not value his or her time you might think that they are expensive, but compared to any other contractor that comes to your home (e.g., HVAC, plumber, electrician, etc..) they are right in line. When I called for an appointment they communicated the process clearly and the conformation texts and emails arrived as expected and on time. Both service calls started at the time promised. I have a 10 year old zero-clearance mower and have been having the dealership do it's annual service. This year I used Mobil Mower Repair and they did an outstanding job, finding loose clamps and bolts from earlier service. They also, for the first time ever, properly leveled the deck. TL;DR: No savings, no gain, no more trust. Overcharge. We've been using Andy's service for a couple of decades, mainly for the convenience of not having to haul the thing (we both work full-time), and we have given them a LOT of leeway about when they come out. In the last few years, we have not gone ONE SEASON without calling them back, sometimes twice. Here are the issues: THREE WEEKS to get them to your door, if they show up. Being a "loyal customer" means nothing. By then, the lawn is SO TALL (or, you've paid for someone else to cut it), that your work/money is DOUBLED (double cut) and then TRIPLED (gotta rake! or the grass is dead!). It's actually FASTER NOW to send it to the shop. And cheaper. Jerry-rigged crap doesn't save you ANYthing in the short run (we got thru half of one mowing after one of those) and costs you MORE in the long run. Andy has talked us into a couple of these. Just: DON'T. (btw: They often don't have the parts you need, on that mobile truck. They just don't. So. They improvise. We have a Deere, not off-brand.) After service, they left our tracker UNPROTECTED IN TORRENTIAL RAIN... even with a tarp, sitting right next to it, the very tarp we used to protect it when they showed up two days late (after waiting WEEKS). Why not throw the tarp over the tractor? So easy. They sure took time to cover in plastic encasing an INFLATED BILL.... Charging $90/hr per person (two people) and then adding on EVERY LITTLE THING you can imagine to hype up the cost. We feel ripped off. (Again.) $537 for a simple repair and service? WHAT?! We balked at $370 the last time, for the REPAIR/SERVICE that didn't even get us thru one mowing, and yet reluctantly paid it. This current bill is OTT rip-off. Line crossed. read more

Mobile Mower has been maintaining our mower and snow blower for 15 years now and they've given us excellent service. Andy is great - he knows the equipment like nobody else and he stands behind his work. But the entire team wants to make you glad you called them. Like all lawn equipment service businesses, Mobile Mower gets busy at the beginning of the season so you can't expect them to drop everything and come right over. But they always do their best in a friendly, concerned way. And they don't oversell - Andy suggested we consider replacing our mower when it needed an expensive repair. So far...not good. I AM 74 YEAR OLD...DISABLED PERSON,and I told Andy I am living on Social Security as soon as I saw him. Took 1 month to get home visit...and at this point, Andy has the cowl from my lawnmower in his truck. He accessed my lawnmower and took parts off without letting me know he was on my property. He left his truck at the far end of my driveway (( i live in center of 5 acres, so could NOT hear, or see vehicle. HE SAID HE KNOCKED, I, and the dog did not hear him.. HE HAS A CELL PHONE -- DID NOT CALL TO SAY HE HAD ARRIVED, I believe he should not have started work, without talking w/me and giving estimate. )) He hid the cowl of my mower in his truck...before I saw him, before I went outside. I heard something, and went out. He had removed it to diagnose the electrical problem... mice ate the wiring. I think he either broke the cowl, or is using it to force me to agree to high fees -- He charges $50 service fee to come to home. He charges $90 an hour...he says he spent 1/2 hour to look at 2 mowers ..i was watching when he examined the second one... less than10 minutes. CAN GUESS, IN RE.to lawn tractor ... he removed cowl, walked to truck, hid cowl...came back, scooped out fluff mice had been living in, and threw it on the ground...it might have taken 10 - 15 min. He said , (string trimming) brush mower... needs carborator adjustment... maybe a part...but woulnt tell me WHAT PART...it is 3-4 years old. I said, could you attempt to fix it by adjusting the carburator? He said, he' d rather fix both machines at same time...the other machine was going to be $460 ,or MORE, and small brush trimmer... about $ 270, if he could get the mystery part. So... No, he could not work on the brush trimmer. I said, Why not? Then I could at least trim the weeds and brushand it would justify paying the trip fee. NO, he could not. I said, Do you want me to pay the travel time today? He said, No, he wanted to see if he could get parts. He would barely make eye contact. I had asked once about the cowl...and he changed subject...before he left -- forgot to ask again. He left with my cowl for tractor (large cover for electric stuff..about size of breadbox, and tailored to fit specific machine.) I got a bunch of text mssg.s- NO he couldnt get brush mower parts...machine 'too old." Reminder ,it is 3-4 years old. The total would be $660, or more...and he couldnt guarantee the brush mower would actually BE fixed...then he corrected to $570...with various $ 50 fees on each note...so not sure, could guesss...he would add them on. I called and said I want my cowl back...Said I was considering the repair costs... then...decided he was being dishonest...and said... give back the cowl, I' pay for travel time, and half hour...and got angry and said...if you dont give cowl back, am making police report, and postinG on YELP. if we get this resolved i might soften the review...right now am thinking I'd better make out police report. read more

After I waited three weeks from my initial call on 4/27, Andy showed up on 5/19 gave me a 12 hour window, claimed the generator needed a new $400 control panel, but didn't bring the part needed, scheduled for the next Saturday 5/26 (again gave me a 12 hour window), spent three hours scratching his head and not being able to get it to work. Scheduled to come back on Saturday 6/2 (again 12 hour window) and called at 8pm to say he wasn't going to show. Got a call on 6/5 from Brian asking if Andy could come on Wed 6/5. I asked if he was going to show this time. Brian got rude with me. On 6/5, I called Andy at 11am to ask what time he might show, as I had an appointment and needed to leave at 6pm. He didn't call back until 6pm. Said he'd have to call me the next week to reschedule. Meanwhile, I called Superior Industrial in Jackson on 6/7. They came out and fixed the generator on 6/11. Only took about an hour, even after putting the gererator back together, given that Andy had left it in pieces. I didn't get a call back from Mobile Mower until 6/22, at which time I informed Ashley that I'd already had someone else come out and fix the generator and no longer had need of Mobile Mower's service. On 6/23, Andy called and left me a nasty message basically saying "You can cancel if you want, but you weren't available, and I'm going to send you a bill, and I expect payment (repeated several times). Complete BS! No concept of customer service. Two months have gone by with him not knowing what he's doing and blowing off appointments after I've cancelled all my plans for entire days to be here, and he's pissed that I had the audacity to hire someone else to come and do what he should have had done months ago. read more

We discovered our snowblower wasn't working yesterday after getting a large amount of snowfall. My husband spent several hours trying to make it work with no luck. We called Mobile Mower Repair today (a snow day for all of Washtenaw County) and he was able to come out same day and fix it. We were very happy with the service and the price was reasonable. I own a commercial lawn company. I called about a mower that has a simple starting issue and is stuck in a back yard, an emergency situation as far as I am concerned. I was told succinctly, "uh, we won't be able to get out there for 2 1/2, 3 weeks". Useless. read more

We have a 12 year old riding lawn mower that no one else has been able to fix. Mobile Mower Repair however found the problems and fixed them with as low cost to us as possible. We're so thankful and our machine sounds better than it has in years! After calling and finding out it would be a 2-3 week wait, I guessed I might never hear back from them--as is so often the case with other businesses. We were on vacation when they called to come out 2 weeks later, and they offered to look at it in our absence. We never have workers to our home without us there, but they proved to be so trustworthy! The owner actually worked on our machine from 10pm-12midnight on a Saturday night. And he left us a detailed work order with the diagnosis, all that had been done to correct the multiple problems, and even followed up with us by text. We will never call another mechanist again. Very reasonably priced at $80 per hour and $50 for the house call. Excellent service! (And I never write reviews ;) read more

I was referred to this business by a family member.....realize now I was ripped off. I took my riding mower into their shop, told them that the mower turns over but it wasn't starting and probably needed a good tune up which I didn't have the time to do myself. They told me that they would go through it real good, I think they said it was their spring special which included the tune up, oil and filter, spark plug and air filter and they would sharpen the blades, etc.....go through it real good. Called me the next day and said the head gasket needed to be replaced and was leaking oil.....I knew the machine was leaking so I felt good giving them the ok to repair it.....they told me they would go ahead and repair it and that I could pick it up anytime the following day that it would be ready. I returned to pick it up.....they bring it out of the garage, and I trailer it back home.....upon returning to my home 40 minutes away, I go to take the mower off the trailer and guess what.....it turns over and doesn't start.....so I put it in neutral and push it off the trailer. So I thought maybe from the travel it might have gotten air lock in the gas line or something simple so I decided I would take a look at it the next morning. Next morning it still doesn't start.....so I call the shop and they tell me if I bring it back out that they would take another look at it.....but never offered their mobile service to come to me. So I'm now convinced that I have a fuel problem so I start at the fuel filter to check the flow, no air lock fuel is gravity feed.....so I then remove the fuel solenoid to find the solenoid in the closed position not allowing gas into the carburetor. So I take this part into a local shop that is 5 minutes from my house.....the owner took the solenoid back and tested it and told me that it was bad.....he said a new one runs about $60 but that its a part that you really don't need and I could bypass it by just removing the tiny rubber stopper from the plunger on the solenoid.....so I removed it as I was talking to him.....returned home and reinstalled it and turned the key and my mower fired right up. So here's the deal.....I paid $268 for a oil and filter change, fuel filter, air filter, headlight bulbs (one has already burned out again), head cover gasket, replaced deck pin, greased fittings, and (sharpened blades)......remember that.....sharpened blades. $268 for their spring special.....they never addressed my original issue that it wouldn't start.....I repaired that myself thanks to the advice of my local shop.....so TODAY I decided that I was going to install the three new mulching blades that came with my new rear bagger system.....I remove the cutting deck from the mower and flip it over to remove the blades and I discovered my old blades actually had never been sharpened, still had all the pitted knicks in the blades......Am I shocked?.....NO!.....Do I feel ripped off?.....YES!.....Will I return?.....NO! Maybe you won't have the experience that I had but if I can save one person from the troubles that I had and discovered than I'll earn my money back and then some.....good luck and best wishes. read more

Andy is great at what he does but now that he is expanding he is gouging like mad. His bills are double or triple what they used to be. He recently charged me for TWO hours labor for a 30 minute simple job. His rate is $95 per plus $80 just to show up. I have used Andy for over a decade and his new billing scheme is disappointing to say the least. I will not be using him again. I watched him work so I know it only took 30 minutes. Also make sure you ask for an estimate before he adds extra work. read more
