Great Outdoors never lets me down! Cesar, Jorge, and Alonso removed grass netting on an acre that didn't take due to the drought and the company who installed it, didn't bother to return my call. They mowed the location and trails afterwards. It was a massive job! Under my large deck, Cesar, Jorge, and Alonso installed chicken wiring and trimmed my shrubs. Brandon and Fernando handled fall clean up on two acres saving me hours of leaf blowing. Most recently, Cesar and Alonso removed a 20' spruce, installed a 10' black spruce, and mulched my beds. I strongly advise potential customers to stay far away from Great Outdoors. Great Outdoors failed to complete the contracted scope of fall cleanup at our home, yet attempted to charge an arbitrarily high price for extremely limited and poor-quality work. Large portions of the agreed-upon cleanup were not performed at all. More concerning, the company later claimed credit for work that I personally completed myself, such as clearing one of our garden beds. They continue to assert that services were performed that demonstrably were not. Despite the minimal work completed, Great Outdoors is attempting to charge nearly $400 for what amounted to cutting back several hydrangea bushes--not even proper pruning--and little else. This charge is wildly disproportionate to the work actually done and was justified after the fact with unsupported labor claims. In addition to inaccurate and deceptive billing practices, communication was inconsistent, responses were delayed or evasive, and scheduling services was difficult throughout the process. Based on my experience, Great Outdoors' billing practices lack transparency, and their representations about work performed cannot be relied upon. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking honest, professional landscaping services. read more

They installed two new beds last spring with soil, plantings and mulch. I should have been more suspicious when there were no drawings and I had to request specifications for the plants but they were personable and seemed knowledgeable. . They did not complete the mulching until after multiple complaints last fall. This spring multiple small shrubs and one tree need to be replaced and they are trying to say the tree was replaced last year. There is no evidence that it happened. They agreed to replace the shrubs over a month ago but nothing has happened but excuses and delays. it is now hot weather so successful transplantation is a not as successful. They are not responding to calls and emails. read more

Today the crew of Great Outdoors Horticulture #2 weeded the beds in our corner yard. Cortnee, Haley, and Savanah did a great job and removed even the smallest tufts of grass and weeds in the beds that circle our house and those that are established away from the house. Our initial meetings with Mike K. were very informative and helpful, and we never got the sense that he was trying to sell us the most expensive job. He simply presented options, their upsides and downsides and costs, and it was all very helpful. I was driving down Industrial this morning, your driver locked his breaks and turned left from the far right lane... I was sliding during his slow turn trying to avoid him and instead ended up pacing him. We both ended up sliding into the entrance to a business. He looked up at me panicked, something hanging out of his mouth, backed up and drove off down the street instead of checking if I was okay. The guys an idiot, and that's fine. But if I was an older person or someone with kids in the car he could have caused you guys a ton of problems. I used to drive for a local company, so I am more familiar than most regarding driving in the snow. I'm a Michigander. But driving off was uncalled for, I would have laughed it off if he tried talking to me. We would always try to take care of customers or potential customers. But probably five other cars saw the whole thing. Our employees represent the company, and that wasn't a good look on my way to work today. read more

We signed up for fertilizer and weed control. The service was ok. They took forever to come out after we signed up, almost 3 weeks later. Their weed control was just ok. I still ended up pulling many weeds and having to apply my own spot spraying to control the weeds. I expected more. The real problem we had is that when we called to try to pay, they said "Our offices flooded, destroying our server. We can't take your payment right now. We'll call you back when we can." No call back. Then we finally called again and paid them in full. 8 days later, we got a letter from a bill collector. Even better, when I tried to call and complain, their office hours are only 8am - 4pm, so I had to leave a message. Don't really expect they will call back, they don't seem very good at that.. Ridiculous. These guys do not have their stuff together. Find someone else. read more

I don't know about their lawn maintenance services but we paid them a good chunk of change for a paver patio with fire pit, pergola, home entrance and adjoining sidewalk. They sent a professional to estimate, then sent out workers we could not communicate with due to language barrier, this after advising us an English speaking supervisor would be on site each day. We had to watch the workers closely as far as measurements, and then call to have them correct items following incorrectly sized installments. After it was all done, we quickly noticed the eating area accumulating water, indicating poor drainage. They sent workers out to redo the area's elevation for better drainage. The following summer was extremely dry. this summer we noticed the occasional water, then moss in the problem area and telephoned in spring for fixing. Too bad, so sad (not in their words) was their response. DON'T use them for these type jobs, and be warned on how they warrant their work. Everyone visiting that asks about the issue, we are certain to tell who the company is so they won't use them. It's really too bad and dumb of this company. We're in a newer neighborhood and many neighbors still need patio installments and from a distance they'd thought ours was lovely. When we can afford it, we'll be paying another company to correct it. read more
