Update review based on getting a 2nd opinion on a water damaged device. Last year after my iPad Pro was water damaged I took it to mobile device doctors and they looked at it and accessed it could not be fixed. A year later I figured it was worth a 2nd opinion from a 5-Star rated company before purchasing a new one. The 5-star company was no only able to repair the screen issue but ID'd that the previous service rep (Mobile Device Doctor in this case) put a service sticker with the wrong type of iPad (2nd gen vs 3rd gen which makes a big difference) and more importantly why I am leaving this review is some internal parts were not put back into the iPad (ie board covers). Whether this was intentional (integrity issue) or unintentional (sloppy work), want to make sure the public is aware. I've give the company an opportunity to rectify the issue by issuing a full refund for the service and deem what they think is fair for leaving out internal parts. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I broke my Iphone 14 pro a couple of weeks ago which resulted in an absolutely shattered back of the phone glass and a very small purple line on the far left side of the front screen (no cracks on the front, just the mildly inconvenient stripe). I brought my phone in to the store to have it looked at and to get a quote and he said that he could fix it but that he would need to order parts and it would take 3 business days or so. Said that it would be $250, half now, half at completion. Not super cheap but reasonable. I called three business days later and he said that the iphone 14 Pro Max screen hadn't come in yet to which I responded that it wasn't the max. He looked into it and realized that he ordered the wrong parts and that he re-ordered it and it would be another 3 or so business days. A bit inconvenient but not the end of the world. I call 3 days later and the parts are in so I bring it by to have it fixed. He pops off the case (shards of glass visible in the empty case) and says it will be about 30 minutes to an hour. He comes back 30 minutes later, I pay for the other half and he hands me my phone. I'm about to leave and I turn the phone around and the back is still completely shattered.. I asked him about it and he said "oh we don't do the backs of phones, only the front screens".. At no point in the multiple interactions that we had did he mention that the part of the phone that was clearly the focal point in need of major repair was not going to be replaced and was not part of the $250 cost.. I clearly was shocked and he just went into a story about how it requires a different machine. No apology for the mistake, no discount provided, absolutely unacceptable customer service. I am (was) a frequent customer of this establishment. Always thought they did good work, so even referred friends to them. I had them repair a cracked screen on my daughter's iPad a little over a month ago and paid to have them put a screen protector on. Well, the screen protector was getting loose (as they often do) so I tried to remove it (which I have done dozens of times with no issue). This time, the screen came up from the corner (pictured) which caused the screen to bend and the glass screen to crack. Brutal, but I assumed that it would be covered by warranty since the screen should not pull up and crack so easily. I checked the FAQs on their website and sure enough "parts and labor" are covered for 6 months. This obviously was an issue with either the part (a cheap screen being used) and/or labor (it not being fastened properly), so I assumed we were good. I took it in and explained what happened. I told the person at the desk that it was just replaced a month ago, so should be covered by warranty. I don't know if he wasn't listening or following because he gave no indication that there would be an issue. Since I was working when the repair was completed, my father picked up the iPad with my daughter. They told him that it wasn't covered by the warranty because there was damage (obviously because of the parts and labor as explained above). I called and was astonished that the owner that answered the phone refused to issue a refund even though the repair should have been covered by the warranty. He accused me of lying regarding how the damage was caused even though it is obvious in the picture that the corner of the screen was pulling away from the body on the iPad that was literally JUST REPAIRED BY THEM. I looked into if further and they do not use Apple parts for the repairs. I'm sure that has something to do with shoddy repair. If you have an Apple product, pay a little extra and take it to the Apple store or a licensed repair shop that carries Apple parts. Terrible customer service. read more

AVOID this store, otherwise you will have following risks: 1. Lose sensitivity after the screen gets repaired 2. Phantom touches all over the screen while wireless charging 3. Overheat under some circumstances 4. Screen malfunctions with white bars 5. Coward and pathetic owner refuses to communicate and re-repair for these malfunctions caused by their own poor service quality, hiding behind phone pretending not in the store. Full Story: A few weeks ago, I fixed my screen at Mobile Devices Doctors. Right after they got it fixed, i found out my screen will have phantom touches while using wireless charging, screen sometimes lost sensitivity for a second and it also seems to overheat under certain circumstances. I didn't come back to the store because there were just mild inconvenience overall and i didn't want to spend another 45 min waiting for it fixed. Last week, my screen started to malfunction with a thin white bar (now it becomes a wide one as the picture shown below) and the edge of the screen came off. There is no drop or damage at all after last repair. Since it now has 4 problems at the same time and no longer functions normally, i decided to take it back to the store. A staff told me he would leave Bill a message, but i still haven't heard anything from him yet. I went through a few other reviews figuring out some of the customers suffering from the same issues. I hope Bill can actively solve the problem instead of making me post the bad review here to motivate him to call me. Plus, I spent almost $400 for repairing the screen, now it's obviously defective causing me another couple of hours on solving issue... So ridiculous. Unfortunately the glass repair for my iPhone was unsuccessful. The screen is not very responsive to touch when the phone is asleep (have to tap multiple times hard for it to wake up), when I text it types two of the same letters in ~every other word, and my phone just glitched out where the screen went green and static-y. After looking up online it only costs an extra $50 to get your glass repaired by Apple approved companies, and I wish I did my research and realized that in advance. Your screen is also not recognized by your phone and there will always be a notification in your settings that shows your glass is not Apple. This just appeared for me 24 hours after the repair and there is no way for the notification to go away. I don't know if this affects whether you can even trade in your phone back to Apple but my guess is that they would not accept the phone. Just spend the extra $50 and get your phone fixed by an Apple approved phone repair person. read more

I am never one to have to leave negative reviews and care about small businesses. I am leaving this, because I tried to address it with Mobile Device Doctors and nothing was resolved. This is unfortunately the second time I am having to leave a not so great review. Last month I had to replace a second screen that was repaired just a few weeks before, from an incident in which my phone was run over and needed to be repaired. I had mobile device install the cheaper version on my phone, and the screen ended up black on the bottom without a scratch on it a month later. I was told that this was my fault and there was damage on my phone! I even had a screen protector and a good case on my phone. There was no major incident in which this should have happened. Like I said the first time my phone cracked, was completely my fault as it was run over. That is the first time my phone screen has ever cracked like that, but this second screen incident should not have happened unless it was installed incorrectly. I was told that I had to pay full price to have it repaired again, which was very frustrating as I had literally just paid $150 + on it. Long story short, after $300 spent.... my phone cracked yet AGAIN 3 weeks after the phone screen was replaced!!! A tiny crack on the bottom WITH AN OTTERBOX COVER AND SCREEN PROTECTOR I HAD MOBILE DEVICE DOCTORS PUT ON! I had the owner do that for me as I was worried it was my error since I had screen protectors on every time there was damage to my phone. There was again no major incident of why my screen should have cracked. I am a clumsy person which is why I buy $60 phone cases. Never in my life though, have I had a phone crack like this. IT should not happen. If you're going to give your business to mobile device doctors, I suggest just buying the more expensive screen repair. I am not sure if that is any better, but I will tel you that the $150 screens are flimsy and will break very easily. I am a teacher and cannot afford to buy a new phone or put any more money into repairs, it is very frustrating to have put $300 and my entire paychecks into something that is only going to put me more in the hole now. When I reached out about this, there was no way given by mobile doctors to make this right or to even pay half cost or something. My phone decided to go for a swim (in the toilet of all places) a couple of weeks ago, and guess what? The rice trick didn't work. I left it in there for 3 days, and the thing still wouldn't turn on. I brought the phone in to Mobile Device Doctors, where Dan greeted me, and asked me to describe the problem... apparently, the rice "trick" actually does more harm than good. D'OH! So things were looking pretty bad for my phone, and the water damage was pretty extensive. The water damage cleaning only cost $40-some odd dollars after tax, so I figured, eh, give it a shot. All I wanted was a chance to back up the pictures/videos, and I was willing to pay more than that to save them. Since my phone wasn't an iPhone, Dan had to order the parts in, and a few days later, I got a call with the news--DAN BROUGHT MY PHONE BACK TO LIFE It was acting kind of wonky and couldn't connect to any cell towers, BUT HE BROUGHT THE PHONE BACK TO LIFE. LIKE, IT ACTUALLY TURNED ON, WHAT. I had plenty of time to back up all of my files and contacts, and even more surprisingly, my phone continued to regain function over the next week. It even connected to some cell towers every now and then and let me use my data. (Couldn't make a call or send text messages unless I was getting a realy strong signal from accidentally standing next to a cell tower or something though.) Anyway, he was also super informative when explaining what he found was going on with my phone, what my options were (all the different repairs would add up to a few hundred dollars, might as well buy a new phone), and recommendations for new phones based on their features, price point, and cost to repair if something happened to them. Was having GPS issues due to faulty flex cable on my iPhone 6, this was actually the 4th repair service I checked. First place told me they didn't do this kind of repair, second place told me no, because they thought that wouldn't fix the GPA issue I was having (despite a lot of testimonials from other iPhone 6 users saying this would fix the issue) 3rd place told me they could but it would take days to get the part in and gave me a ridiculously high quote. So finally called Mobile Device Doctors, (Bill I believe?) was knowledgeable about my issue and fixed it same day in an hour. And not only that but he showed the part that was causing my GPS problems, and also the price for the service was far better than I expected. Don't call anywhere else, I already did and this is the place to go! I called this place first and was quoted $79 for a screen repair for the iphone5. Called to compare rates at foxpaw, UbreakIt IfixIt, CPR Cell phone repair, and they all quoted me $109. And then UbreakIt IfixIt offered to do the repair for $75 claiming that they offer the best possible price and while I appreciated the gesture, it was slightly unnerving that they know they're overcharging and are able to shift pricing that way. Their warranty is also only 90 days while MDD offers a 6 month warranty. Bill from MDD was up front from the beginning about offering me a reasonable price and he owns the business, not a corporation. Support the local guys, it matters that we have people (not big corporations) trying to cut a living from their skill-set with integrity! read more

I went to STL Comp Docs today because my two and a half year old iPhone 4S' power/lock screen button quit working during the weekend- either from normal ware or from minor drops throughout the years. Not wanting to adjust to the on-screen assisted lock button, I decided to go here to get the button replaced. The repair was only $40 (less than Wireless Toyz and CPR) and I was able to pick up the fixed phone within 1 1/2 hours. The repair also comes with a 90 day parts warranty. My husband shattered his phone yesterday & after calling AT&T were told we'd be better off finding somewhere local unless we wanted to pay $199 from them. Their price ($100) beat anything else we found so we brought it in. We dropped the phone off around 230 & told the employee we fully expect not to be able to pick it up by Monday (they close Saturday at 5 & are closed on Sundays). We even told him we were running errands so probably wouldn't be around. Well we happened to be in the area around 430 when we got a call saying it was ready. The phone looks good as new!
