The speed limit is 5 MPH and we all obey (low dust and much safer). Friendly folk stay here. Some use it as a base to explore the area, some to recharge their batteries. The office has two single person bathrooms with a bathroom (cleanest and best smelling bathroom I've ever used). Sit by the bay or go fishing from the pier while George the Heron waits for handouts. Evenings feature a social circle around the chimera. This campground is a hidden gem 15 minutes from the hub-bub of activity. Well-behaved dog friendly with a designated walking area. No playground, pool or game room, but the office has books and games to borrow, as well as a coffeemaker. Laundry and Ice are on site. Going west, you can go to Fort Morgan of take the ferry to Dauphin Island (check out Sassy Bass bar and grill). Going east, you have Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and all the Gulf activities you can afford. BTW... go grocery shopping at Rouses, excellent deli, great seafood and meat (aged beef) and ready cooked food. Happy Pappy Coffee is my favorite stopping place.

I ask to stay one month, I left after 3 weeks so my rate went from monthly to weekly which I had no idea the rates worked that way. Thats fine, I could have made a different decision, I would have stayed rather than paying the full month and only staying three weeks.. I did ask about this before hand and was told, leaving early wouldn't be an issue but still, no mention of mo vs wkly rates, who knew. I just felt a little jilted for the money I paid vs what I stayed. I'd still go back but have more understanding of the terms. Its just a stain on my experience there because I loved it.

The camper slots are squished very close together. The roads are full of holes and people park their boat trailers all over the place. We were not there to camp, though; we stayed in a cabin that has not been upgraded in years--it had dusty and stained wood walls, a wall A/C unit that struggled to keep the room cool, rotten and peeling siding and trim on the outside, a grill that looked like it'd fall over if you tried to use it, furniture that was old, scarred and didn't look fit to sit on, a bathroom with a toilet not bolted to the floor, no stopper in the sink, a rusty soap dish and toothbrush holder, a non-working exhaust fan light, and dust/dirt on the baseboards and corners, a bed with a torn bedspread and pillows so thin you could hardly tell you had one, a kitchen with scarred and old cookware, bare minimum utensils, cups and plates and no dish towels. The one good thing was that it smelled clean when you walked in, but that was deceiving. The only reason we stayed there was that we were with family that chose the place and it was convenient, but I would not go back if you paid me and neither would they.

This place hands down was the worst RV rental experience we have ever had, not to mention the…read morecustomer service was atrocious. The initial process was smooth, the when it came time to pick up it was all downhill from there. We planned to rent this RV with intentions of taking my father in law to our family reunion In St. Louis. My father in law is disabled and not very mobile without assistance and unable to sit in a regular vehicle which is why we decided to rent an RV. My father in law wanted to be helpful with renting the RV so he payed the $300 deposit. When we arrived to pick up the RV they wouldn't allow my husband to pay the balance for the rental because he didn't pay the deposit. I then asked if they could just do a new contract with my husband and I and they said no. We were willing to do whatever it took to make this situation work, and the business was not. I asked if they could refund my father in laws $300 and they again said no due to their 7 day cancellation policy. I then stated that if they are so concerned about following policy then why were we told my father in law could pay the deposit and we could pay the rest, then upon arrival we were told we couldn't?! Since they violated their own policy I think I should get my father in laws deposit back! We were given false information and because of it they believe they are entitled to keeping our money! This place is an absolute joke! Telling their customers "NO" seems to be a thing within their business. Needless to say we will NEVER waste our time and money with this business again! We left and called Enterprise rental and they accommodated or needs immediately and were happy to take our money! UPDATE....So we are traveling home in our rental from Enterprise which turned out to be perfect and see one of these RV's broke down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere...wonder how that worked out. Make better choices for your families folks!!

We had a very disappointing experience with Cruise America. From the start, staff tried several…read moretimes to get us to sign the paperwork without properly checking the RV, which felt wrong. When we finally received the camper, it was extremely dirty. The floor was sticky and brown, the kitchen drawers left brown residue when touched, and overall the interior was in poor condition--loose drawers, a broken microwave turntable, etc. When we pointed this out, the employee helping us said it was because her colleagues were "lazy," but she made no effort to get the RV cleaned. On top of that, the towels and linens we rented were unacceptable: stained, with yellow marks, burn holes, and even black hairs in the washcloths. We told Cruise America the condition of the RV and linens was unacceptable, but were simply told that no other RVs were available since each customer is pre-assigned a specific vehicle. As we had a long drive ahead and needed to reach our destination before dark, we reluctantly took the RV and ended up buying our own towels and sheets. At drop-off at another location, we again shared our experience, but the response was just "sorry to hear about that," with no attempt to make things right. The lack of cleanliness, the poor state of the RV, the condition of the rented linens, and the dismissive customer service made this an awful experience. It was clear that Cruise America staff simply didn't care. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for RV rentals.
