Far East MotorWorks - Picture of heath of battery

Far East MotorWorks

I had the good fortune to visit this establishment twice before writing this review. Yes. Good…read morefortune. Most people dread going to a mechanic, but it seems clear to me that these folks want to do two things: 1) They want to take care of cars. 2) They want to take care of their customers. So the only downside to visiting Far East is that there's not much of an indoor waiting area. There is no free wifi (that I'm aware of), and no free coffee, no nearby café, and no Snap-On posters with half-dressed people holding socket wrenches covering the walls. But you know what? I don't need those things. (Except for maybe the posters.) I don't need those things because it seems clear that I'm always going to walk out of this place with my car in better shape than I left it. And it seems clear that the folks behind the counter are going to give it to me straight. They have been thorough in their assessments, and absolutely superlative in their communications. Next time I go, if you could pick me up and take me to a café, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you're reading this and have a Honda/Acura and need service look nowhere else. I think you get great value just from the customer service alone. The service is also wonderful I like the information they took the time to put about the status of the battery and condition of tires. Value information for any driver. I have the utmost confidence taking my vehicle here and that it will be treated with care. The only thing I can think of that's a con is the time available to be scheduled, but that's because it seems they always have work going on! The way I look at it. That's a plus in my book. Hidden gem.

Grease Monkey - No filter!

I wish I could make this up. 3 weeks ago I go for an oil change and air filter change for my 2019…read moreChevy Equinox. Should have been an easy visit. I left and my car felt weird -- struggling to accelerate, loud noise outside the car, and hissing I could hear through the AC. I take it back a week later, tell them exactly what's happening, and they look at the car and tell me "oh someone didn't tighten the filter." They tighten it up and send me on my way. It still feels off...and now my engine light comes on. I've moved out of the area now. I run the code P1101 -- AIR FLOW. I open it up myself...no filter. NO FILTER. So now I figured out what happened. They loosened it prepping to put the filter in, but never actually installed one. Then when I came back complaining about the symptoms, they still never checked whether the filter was even there before tightening everything back up. I literally paid for NOTHING, and this could have damaged my car. I knew something felt wrong. I had videos. I explained clearly what was happening. Why didn't anyone actually check? How can I get my money back? I paid for an air filter they never installed, and they had TWO chances to catch it and missed it both times. Another thing feels off too. I was told I needed a transmission fluid change...except I got one a year ago and haven't even put 5k miles on the car, let alone 50k. I have a receipt for that service too, but apparently it was never recorded in their system that it was done on my car. How is that possible? So now I'm wondering...was it actually done? If it was, why isn't it documented in the system? If it wasn't, did I pay for a service they never performed? I'm frustrated to say the least.
