Note: I'm posting this here because the owners of this Chevron also own the auto repair shop, in…read morethe same lot. It has no Yelp site of its own. Quick Stop Auto Repair (formerly Trusted Choice): A Warning This shop not only did damage to my car, they neglected to take any responsibility for it, even when I pursued legal action. My car has been running great for several years with no major issues. I was due for an oil change so I called the "trusted choice" auto care number in my phone. I was informed that trusted choice had closed and that they are called "Quick Stop" auto care now. I decided anyone can do an oil change. Not my best decision. I asked them (Zach) to do the oil change and a quick once-over to make sure things looked good. I got a call later from the technician that my "oil pressure sending unit" looked like it had a "very small" leak. He said he had tried to tighten it but that it didn't work. He said he would keep working on it, and try to "tighten it really good" to see if that would stop the leak. I got a call later where he now sounded panicked, and that the area was leaking much worse. After a few days of back and forth where I kept trying to get answers and getting the runaround, I called and talked with a new person who said he had not looked a my car. He said he would take a look and call me back. He called back and told me the car was leaking "really bad" and that there was JB weld all over it and that he couldn't figure out what the problem was. I told him I was going to take my car to a different shop. I went in that afternoon and picked up the car. They made me pay for the oil change and the inspection. Here's the statement I received from Terry's Automotive, the shop I then took my car to: Customer brought 2006 Honda CRV in for massive oil leak. Technician found oil pressure sending unit mounting boss cracked and leaking. Technician also noted JB Weld epoxy was applied to mounting boss in an attempt to seal the crack. Required engine removal and replacement. Will investigate leaks and situation further. With engine removed, technician found crack on mounting boss caused by someone tapping oil pressure sending unit threaded hole with standard tap instead of NPT (National Pipe Thread) tap. National pipe thread is a tapered hole for sealing purposes, a standard tap has straight-cut threads for a straight-cut hole. When standard tap was inserted, it leveraged out the side of the mounting boss, causing the crack. Technician then noted that original oil leak came from timing cover above vtec solenoid. This leak is likely what they [Quick Stop] were trying to fix when they tapped oil pressure sending unit hole. Timing cover leak was a very minor seepage at the time of attempted repair. Technician noted customer lost a quart of oil in under 3 miles from original shop [Quick Stop] to Terry's automotive. Customer stated that they told her they topped off her oil before she took her car to our location. I spoke with the owners of Quick Stop, and asked them to pay for the damage they caused. They laughed at me, yelled at me, and gave me the name of their attorney. I decided to pursue legal action.. Their lawyer was nice enough with us, but gave us the runaround and we were never able to even receive a written acknowledgement of our demand or an attempt to reconcile. After several months, we asked for half of the amount to be offered in a settlement (a little over $2,000) and received no response. My attorney said I could either take them to court or let it go. I opted to let it go and move on with my life. I'd like my story to serve as a warning for anyone else who chooses to bring their vehicle here. Not only were they disrespectful and dishonest, they did not offer to make up for their wrongdoing, and still charged me for their services.
