This location is not my "home" location, but it is close to my office and other bi-weekly activities so I fill up when I am in the area. This location usually has long lines and the flow of traffic is less patient than what I am used to--I am used to cars that will fill in and empty all 3 stations at a time instead of driving around pedestrians one at a time. The gas station is usually functional, clean, and cleared in inclement weather. It's pretty self service, but I do see the attendants in case of emergency.

Our rental car came with a close to empty gas tank, so needed to find fill up. We found the nearest Costco warehouse, and was very pleasantly surprised at how there were no lines...we had our choice of pump. This location consists of 3 islands, with the first two having 3 pumps and the far right island having 2: meaning 16 nozzles can be dispensing at the same time. The POS process was exactly the same as in other locations: tap your Costco credit card which does double duty of validating your membership and authorizing your credit card. You choose your grade (only two choices of either 87 or 93 octane), pump. 3.66 a gallon. Didn't need to stop inside the warehouse store itself, so we were quickly on our way.

For me, it's the convenience of the location as it is down the road from my gym, the high school, etc. The pump area is usually clean and working well and I do not fret too much about the security of my information at Costco: gas. I like having a garbage can so I can empty out my daughter's stuff while I fill up. The staff is attentive and I see them help others with the gas, receipts, etc. time and time again. Sometimes patrons drive crazily around the pumps, but that is not to any fault of the facility. I appreciate having affordable gas so close!

This review would be a one star if ANDREW the gas attendant didn't save the day…read more On the Saturday before NYE I picked up some items for my grandma she wanted at Costco for her holiday party before picking up my uncle going through chemo. I was running ahead of schedule then I spent 20 minutes waiting for gas and running on time. I get to the gas pump, slide my Costco card, fine, slide my credit card and it will not read. Typically I could then pay by cash or use some other type of card but Costco ONLY accepts Visa. I honk my horn no one comes. I hunt down the gas attendant who happened to be Andrew this day and he was incredibly busy. It was explained to me the gas pump card reader is extremely sensitive. As my card reads pretty much everywhere else. All I'm going to say is Andrew went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure I was able to fill up my tank after waiting in line. Had he not of helped me out...I would have wasted about 40 minutes then going to get gas elsewhere and then got to my uncles late and then my grandma's late (with the food) and I would of had to explain over and over how I waited in a 20 minute line for gas, tried to get gas for another 5 minutes and ultimately couldn't get gas and had to go somewhere else. They would not have believed me. I know we have bigger things to worry about in today's world but in my grandma's older age she has become increasingly anxiety filled and if I was 30 minutes late getting to the Christmas party with the appetizers and people showed up without the appetizers out...she'd have had a fit and I would have ruined Christmas in her eyes. So I cannot thank Andrew enough for saving Christmas for my grandma!

TIP: GO HERE either on Tuesday or Wednesday, because the CHEAPEST gas prices at this place appears to be on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. I filled up my tank for $3.56 this morning! Wow, that is pretty good considering what the price of gas is in Chicago. Insane!. There is also a BP gas station just about a half-block west of this gas station. The BP always has the SAME PRICES as this Thornton's Gas Station. This review is for their CHEAP GAS PRICES (not their convenience store). If you get here and it is crazy-crowded busy, just drive your ass over to the BP, for the exact same price as Thornton's! TIP: Go early in the morning (before 7:30 am) or after 6 pm to avoid the crazy crowds here. Yes, it is ONLY a gas station, but you know what, it sell cheap gas. This is why I have reviewed it and, again, updated my review to include some HELPFUL tips. If you want to avoid the crowds, do yourself a favor, and follow the above tips.

Some people that make it out this way to Sox Park (yes that's simpler) or to see a Bear's game, head to their destination and out. If they need gas they hit the station right off the expressway, it's jammed on game days. So you people know who you are. Just less than a minute west is the Citco, not only is the gas cheaper, they do have a small supply of snacks and drinks for your haul home. They also sell lotto tickets, which is no big deal most gas stations do, however I'm one of those casual players, I'll buy a ticket when the prize is insane, which is also insane because even a small 5M would be life changing. Anyhow they're patient with me as I usually mess up which of the games has the huge jackpot and what night the drawing is. Just gas and the store, they don't service vehicles, as not many do anymore. So much so that I would like action to be taken against this employee. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but this is not the first time that he has treated my sister and I this way. Immediately when we walked into this store, he practically told us to get out. This employee never acknowledges us. I simply asked if we could purchase IL scratch-off lottery tickets. I was immediately told in a very aggressive tone that lottery is closed. I can use the machine. Trust me, I would have preferred to use the machine, but the ticket I wanted was behind the register. I then asked why scratch-off lottery was closed and he yelled that they close at 9? Still prompting for an explanation, as I knew that you could purchase and redeem lottery scratch-off tickets, until 2am, he simply screamed that it was closed and to get out. Please refer to the link stating specifically the timeframe you can purchase and redeem scratch-off tickets in Illinois. What time do they stop selling scratch off lottery tickets in Illinois? (askinglot.com). At this point I began to videotape because I was that upset. I proceeded to ask to speak to a manager and he said, get out, you can come back in the morning. I asked if I could give him/her a call and he refused. In the meantime, my sister wanted to check out an item she won through your current Fuel Runner promotion. He did finally check her out but was not happy about it. In fact, he mentioned under his breath that you only come in here to get everything free! Yes, we do come in because this is the only location near us, to redeem our promotion earnings, but if they did not want to honor these, they should not be a Circle K Franchise. This is simply unacceptable as nobody should be treated this way, especially as a customer. To make matters worse, I stopped back in this evening 4/28 at 8:30 p.m. to purchase the scratch-off tickets. It was a different clerk, so I asked him what time they stop selling scratch-offs behind the counter. He told me never. You can purchase those 24/7! So, here in lies my point. Absolutely ridiculous. Be warned!
