Turned out this place sold at a discount which made me even more happy that I decided to jump in line. The lines get long especially on weekends but I thought it was with the wait. I think I waited in line for about 30 minutes in total. The staff don't hover or bother you unless you want to buy something which is nice. Once you engage, they are funny and very nice. Most of the staff speak English. The cashier team fill out your VAT paperwork and make it very simple for you. Definitely a place I'd stop by again if in France!

There are actually two right next to each other with one being the men's store and the other the women's store. The men's store is fairly small inside. There is a somewhat gruff security guard at the door that will open it for you when they know you want to enter. There were two clerks working this day. One was occupied with other customers, so we browsed for a while. Once the other clerk realized we wanted to try something on he came over and assisted us graciously with good English skills. Though the store is small, they pack a lot of merchandise into it, so there's a good chance you'll find what you want. There was no problem finding what we wanted in the correct size. Once we decided, he arranged all the paperwork to complete the tax refund at the airport. The savings were exceptional compared to US prices. The total savings was about $200 versus buying the same item in the US. He arranged to have our purchase sent to our hotel by courier. Here's where the snafu occurred. It didn't show up by the next day. Our hotel concierge called the store several times, but there was no answer. So, we had no choice but to go back. There were no customers in the store, so I don't know why they weren't answering the phone. The clerk who sold us the shoes was there, and he apologized profusely. He said there had been riots the night before, so he had not sent the shoes for safety reasons. He apologized profusely and apologized for not calling us to advise us. I appreciated the apology, but I couldn't help but wonder what his plan B was since he didn't send the shoes or call us. Did he think we would just give up and forget about them? Haha. Anyway, he gave us the purchase to hand carry back to the hotel. I'm keeping this review at four stars since the cost saving is so amazing, and the product is exceptional. Also, the staff were very apologetic about their error. Definitely visit while you're in Paris and pick up a pair or two at an amazing savings!

Marcelo called me a day before my appointment and was able to confirm that they had the item I wanted and put it aside for me. During my appointment, he was super patient and let me take my time trying on various things as well as giving me his opinion. For my anniversary, I wanted a Cartier ring and since I don't live in France anymore, I also decided to take advantage of the tax refund. The big department stores make a big deal of providing that service very easily and I was under the wrong impression that it would be better to go to one of them. I first went to Cartier in the Samaritaine. The two counters were busy with clients and after waiting and waiting, another salesperson showed up to take care of me. I tried a couple rings standing in the middle of the store and was told I needed my passport to fill out the paperwork, so I'd have to come back. A couple days later, I brought my passport with me and decided to try Cartier in Le Printemps since I was shopping in the area. They told me that since February they only sell watches at this location but recommended I go the the store on Boulevard des Capucines, a short walk from there. I am so glad I did, the experience in a real Cartier store is so much better than in a big department box. And the staff seems also more professional. Instead of standing for a long time like I did at La Samaritaine, waiting for someone to take care of me, I was immediately greeted by a hostess who asked me what I was shopping for and told me she'd look for a salesperson for me. Cartier Capucines is a big store with beautiful displays selling watches, jewelry and also decorative objects for the house. After a few minutes, a smiling young lady brought me to a quite area where we could seat comfortably to talk about the ring I wanted to purchase. She helped me with sizing and all other questions I had about taking advantage of the tax refund. It was a very pleasant and relaxed experience, and I felt I could totally trust the salesperson (I've been told different stories in department stores about the Cartier policies regarding resizing rings, including one who said you could not resize the Trinity ring, or another saying it's free for life, both false!). Lastly, it's important to realize that the process of taking advantage of the tax refund is not made easier by going to a department store. No matter what, you still have to stop by the office at the airport to get your purchase approved. In the end, I highly recommend going to a Cartier shop, if you want to treat yourself or a loved one to something special!
