Adding a belated review because this place is STILL one of my favorite memories of our trip last March. This place was an absolutely delightful surprise we happened upon when booking last-minute. From the unexpectedly cozy urban decor to the trendy music and moody lighting, everything was just plain COOL. Lots of neat details like chain link around the golden bar, the staff's jumpsuits, and the lounge-y reception/work-friendly areas. The restaurant inside was phenomenal, not quite budget-friendly but a justifiably tasty splurge with neat chair+sofa seating. The elevator fit 6 of us plus our luggage and a stroller, a pleasant change of pace from most of our lodging in Europe. Our 2 connecting rooms were very clean, tricked out with cool lamps and exposed wiring, both industrial and rustic touches, nice THICK blackout curtains, and even a curtain separating the sleeping area from the couch area. The room key also controlled the light switches, and there was a bag of board games hanging on a hook we didn't even have a chance to make use of. The beds were The Most Comfortable with downy pillows and comforters, extra large soft towels, neat porthole windows in the bathroom doors, and a water closet I (very pregnant) could actually turn around in. We were so in love with our rooms nobody in our party (including teens and kids) noticed there wasn't a TV until I pointed it out hours after we arrived, which kept the focus on each other and the beautiful view into the courtyard. Wasn't hard to navigate to, but we from Gare du Nord we did need to take the Metro and then a bus and walk a bit. The neighborhood was a bit gritty but didn't feel unsafe, and we were never bothered by any noise at night. Getting into the heart of Paris was more straightforward with a different metro stop also nearby. Fabulous artisanal bakery "MDM" along the way we frequented more than once, with lots of other well-rated eateries and shops around. Happened upon a cute park next to a beautiful old church along our walking route, complete with multiple small playgrounds and a thrillingly fast carousel for the kids. VERY highly recommend, we would definitely stay there again! read more
