Seen this the last couple years and had some friends that went and liked it so thought it'd be a fun, different Sat night. It was PACKED, ok, it's a Sat night, I get that. We had my son and his friend and they are teenagers so we figured we'd do the max but $180 for four people to do both mazes is pretty steep. And that's not considering we didn't do anything else like the corn cannon, buy food, etc.
They hay maze was cute and our boys seemed to enjoy it but a little too old for it. I think if you have little kids then there is a bit more to do like the rides but for $12 to just get inside it's way too steep and limited for older kids or adults. There's just not enough to do for that. I mean if I want to play cornhole I can do that in my backyard.
The bigger issue is the wait times. If you want to do everything, better make sure you show up way early. We figured that if the night stuff starts at 7:30 (according to their website) that's when we should show. So we got there about 8 pm and despite the long entrance line it went great, those girls did a good job to keep it moving. I did ask them though what about are the wait times for the zombie paintball and maze and she just kinda shrugged and smiled. I said, "is it about an hour for each" and again she didn't really have an answer. So then I asked, "which should we do first?". She said definitely the paintball and that was at least good advice but my point was that if either would be more than an hour, we probably would have just bought one.
So we waited over 2 hrs for the paintball and even then we only got in about 15-30 min earlier because there was a group of about 8 in front of us that bailed at the last minute. I feel bad for the kids working cause they were doing their best, working hard, well mannered and apologetic but they were just overwhelmed. They could only take 5 people at a time cause that's all they had guns for. Then their lights went out so they spent another 30 min trying to prep with their cell phone lights while another guy drove back and forth in a golf cart- getting us all dusty, sneezing and coughing in the process- trying to get them a light. Then they finally brought 4 more guns so they could speed it up and take 9 people at a time but it wasn't necessarily a good thing because now there were way too many people at once. Essentially the 3-4 people in the front got to shoot at the zombies while the others watched. At least they then double backed on our route so they others got involved but for this price, there was way too much just walking slowly through a corn field doing nothing, for only 10 min. I think it's cool what they are doing, it's a cool concept and like I said the kids were doing their best with what they were given, it's just that the execution was poor for the price and time we spent.
So once we hit the 1 hr mark waiting for the paintball thing we went searching for some advice if we could get our money back but couldn't really find anyone with knowledge of that. All we got was that they don't think we could and even if it closes at 11 pm they will at least make sure everyone gets through. So we kept waiting cause we were here and figured to make the best of it.
Onto the main maze and it's another hour+ wait. We at least we're able to do some smart planning and our sons somehow cut the line so we got right in. I mean we were there about 2.5 hrs and all we could do were the two mazes. it's a bummer cause we paid a lot for this, again it was $180 for four and wanted to spend some more time but at 10:45 it was time to go, there's a 45 min drive back home afterall. So the main maze was ok, they did a pretty good job of the decorations and had some nice scare elements. I wish there were more dead ends and the maze was a bit more confusing though cause it essentially is one path, not really an actual maze. Oh and if a group goes the wrong way and double backs, essentially now you are in a group of 20-30 people and that diminishes all the scares. The other thing we didn't like- and this is a big one for us- most of the characters were just standing in the middle of the path getting close to you. Ummm... it's a corn maze... that is the draw of it right... wouldn't it be better if they are hiding in the corn and jump out at you? They didn't do that once. I'm walking through the first part on pins and needles expecting it and it never happened. Halfway through I felt totally relaxed which isn't what I was looking for.
So ultimately it was ok. Maybe I'm a little harsh with the one star but I think they failed on most of the main elements. They should make the scares better in the maze, maybe sell less tickets to the paintball if they can't get enough through, make it more quality for the money, and make their staff a little more knowledgeable about how things work (i.e. wait times, refunds, etc.). I love the ideas (corn maze, zombies, etc.) but would prob rather spend less money and time on a haunted house in town. read more
