I wanted my friend to try Shabu Shabu. This was a brand new experience for her. So happy I chose Mo Mo Paradise. We were not disappointed! We chose the Sukiyaki and Tonkotsu soup broths to share. We were a party of 5. We thought the broths were flavorful and glad we chose 2 different flavors. Most restaurants I've dined at give you a choice of one flavor per diner. I preferred the Tonkotsu broth because I like to dip my meat and veggies in Ponzu sauce. Ponzu sauce is a combination of soy sauce, citrus juice (Yuzu), rice vinegar, mirin and kombu and bonito flakes. It has a tart flavor profile. They also offered a roasted sesame dipping sauce. Both dipping sauces are available at the table. We chose the MoMo experience which included Beef Chuck Roll, Beef Short Plate, Eye of Round, Pork Kurobuta Shoulder and Pork Belly. All the meats were fresh. There was a wide variety of add on options included for you to select from the self service bar. Enoki Mushrooms, Tofu, Nappa Lettuce, Kale, Broccoli, Wood Ear (fungus), Fish Balls, Pork Balls, Tomato, Ramen, Udon, Bean Threads, Zuchinni and more. They even offered curry and rice. I love curry, but unfortunately, this curry didn't cut it for me. The curry was lukewarm at best and not one of my favorites. There is a 90 minute limit. The servers were very attentive. Several came and checked periodically to see if we were in need of anything. At about the 80 minute mark, a server came and advised us that we had 10 minutes left. He asked if there were any other meats that we would like to order before the cutoff time. They seemed pretty strict about the 90 minute rule as mentioned in several reviews. It was fine since we were all very full and had pretty much finished. Our meal included unlimited choice of beverages and ice cream for dessert. There were assorted sodas, Jasmine Tea, Jasmine Tea with Yuzu, Milk Tea and more. Our ice cream choices included Vanilla, Black Cherry and Mint Chocolate Chip. Delectable shabu shabu restaurant! I think it's important to note this is a shabu shabu restaurant, not traditional Chinese hot pot! One of my favorites for sure. You're able to pick 2 broths, my favorite is sukiyaki, and you can choose either the regular AYCE or AYCE with AYCD. I always do it with the AYCD because I like my meal with a juice or soda. They have sides such as curry, an assortment of vegetables, and high quality meats. Service is always attentive and comes to you often to get your next order or refills the broth. This Resturant does get packed on the weekends so I would def make a reservation beforehand if possible. Parking is free as well. read more

We opted for the MO-MO Experience AYCE that included beef and pork. We chose the Shabu Shabu broth (the Sukiyaki broth is sweet). They have a complimentary side bar area called the Farmer's Market. There you can get all sorts of sides to cook in your broth and fresh side dishes. Highly recommend the salad and the wagyu beef curry. This AYCE shabu shabu spot is (in my humble opinion) the best place in the area. They may not have as many options for meat, broth or veggies, but what they did have was better than any other place I've been to. I tried the sukiyaki broth and it was really good without being too sweet. They also have one of the best curries I've ever had. I believe they use wagyu in their curry. The beef is so tender and the curry is so flavorful. Anyways, it's fantastic and you should give it a try. The service was outstanding. Literally my favorite shabu spot in LA! Make sure you make a reservation before you come since they're very popular. They have different broth options, my go to is shabu and sukiyaki. All their meats are high quality and perfectly cut for a quick swish swish in the broth. I love the self serving salad bar, variety of veggies and meat balls, and the dipping sauce station. Making a reservation was hassle free with the reservation system and they were accommodating even though some of our party was running around 10 minutes late. Our server was Raymond, a trainee who was very proficient and provided us with an amazing service experience. He was very friendly and made this my favorite experience going to Mo Mo thus far. I love the food at Mo Mo already and was the one who suggested the restaurant to my party, and so having Raymond be so helpful and providing such a wonderful experience made me happy to be able to show a lot of my friends why I love this place so much already: Great food with great service as well, truly the whole package. It was a lot of my friends' first time at Mo Mo so I was feeling a bit pressured because I wanted them to have a good experience and to like the food and I'm happy to say that they all loved it. I'm not really the type to write reviews, I really only do it for places that provide service that truly stands out to me and so even though I've come to Mo Mo countless times by now (I love the sukiyaki broth), Raymond's above and beyond service compelled me to want to write this review. This is one of our family's favorite Japanese hotpot spot. It has become a must-eat every time when we're craving for a Nabe meal. This is a simple shabu shabu place. For some who like mala and a lot of different additional ingredients and sauces, this might not be the place for them. The meat selections are not that many but all are better quality. The Farmer's Market bar choices are limited but good quality and it has all my favorite like kale, mushrooms, fish cake, tofu, and noodles. I came back to clear the misunderstanding and the girl with red hair cleared it but walked away before I could ask if there was a sooner time. Just walked off, I get it. You're busy, but can we finish our conversation? I'm also a customer and wanted to ask if there was a sooner time since we were expected as a party of 6. (To make this clear, I came back in 2 separate times. Both times were different girls.) Came in a 3rd time. This girl was very attentive. Listened to me explain that I had come in to clear out the misunderstanding that we are a party of 2, not 6. I also had a minute of their time to ask if there was a sooner time available. She said there won't be for a while because there is a party of 65. I love momo paradise. It's actually one of my favorite hot pot chains, but I am updating my review for this location because I feel that it lacks customer service compared to the one in Torrance. My most recent visit with a group of 6 was an okay experience. The server would often forget to put in orders and wouldn't be around as quickly as a server should be. Despite the slower service, the food is amazing. The quality of the meats is always consistent. I really love the chuck eye. The sides and sauces are also good. Always had good service here. Reservations are recommended, but as long as you book 4-5 hours in advance, I've found getting a reservation to be very reasonable even on weekends (if you book too close to when you want to go like within 2-3 hours, it may be all booked up). Amazing service, quality, and convenience! It threw us off at first that you need a reservation for hot pot but we found that feature more of a benefit when we want to go so the wait is not long. If you have kids, you need to add this place as a regular. The kid friendly time is always early dinner and I love to see other families here around that time so we don't feel pressured to be so quiet. Food quality is way above the price point and my kids absolutely love their food too. But most impressive is their service which is consistently above par every time we go. I wanted to try this shabu shabu place for quite some time, but I have heard dinner hours can be long waits, especially on the weekends. That's probably due to it being good quality AYCE meats, enjoyable broths, a buffet of add ons, and great service. It is on the ground floor of what I think is a small office building in Arcadia, with a free parking lot in back. I went for lunch, which was about $10 cheaper and had no wait, even though it was fairly packed for a weekday, especially in sweltering Southern California summer. Inside, it's a nice looking, casual but stylish little place. It's not huge, which probably also contributes to the wait. First off, let me address service. We had a female server who was so amazingly friendly and good natured, I would've believed this was her very first week, except she did know the menu. She was one of the best servers I've ever had. The menu is small, but the meat is good quality. We tried the sukiyaki and tonkatsu broths. Most shabu places offer sukiyaki, but it is always sweet, whereas I prefer mine to be savory. The friendly server informed me that by adding water she brought over to the sukiyaki, it would make it more savory, and she was right! I got chilis and oils to make both broths spicy, and enjoyed them both a lot. They have a buffet section, where you can grab various noodles, vegetables, and meat/fish balls, as well as Japanese curry. House hot sake is only $3 a small carafe, which is very cheap. You can add unlimited sodas for like $4 or something like that. And, in the end they offer ever changing free ice cream, and if you want a scoop of each flavor it is not a problem. Is it my favorite shabu? Probably not. Jazzcat is my go to, but that isn't AYCE. Plus, I don't like their sukiyaki. And it's still better than many shabu places I've tried in the San Gabriel Valley. Would I come back? Definitely, especially for lunch. I wish I had the server's name to give her the shout out she deserves in case the owners/managers read this. The ambiance here is modern, with beautiful dark wood finish tables that create a calming atmosphere. The service was very friendly, and since it was our first time, they took the time to explain how to order and recommended the best options for us. Now, onto the food. We tried the Tonkatsu broth and shabu shabu. I really enjoyed the Tonkatsu, but the shabu shabu broth fell flat.. It was almost like drinking hot water.. Unfortunately, they don't serve pork belly during lunch hours, but I went with the chuck eye and short plate, which were great choices for tender, juicy meat. The eye of round was a bit too lean for my taste. Be sure to hit the self-serve bar for items like rice and drinks (all you can drink for $3.95). The matcha latte was delicious! However, I found the sauce options a bit limited.. they didn't have garlic, sesame oil, or other staples I usually enjoy with hot pot. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch experience. The food experience was 5 stars making reservations for a large party needs work. Other website they don't make reservations for large parties you have to wait for confirmation. Had people coming from different cities and I need to knowing we would eat here or not. I left 3 messages on the day we like to eat and no call backs. I called around 3:30 and Brandon answered and confirmed the reservations for me. I think this is more of an intimate place to have dinner if you going with people you don't want to share the broth to cook in then this is not the place for you. We all had to share 2 pots for 6 people we had 17 people. I enjoyed the food but the reservations on line is not ideal for large parties and when you call you don't get a live person before they open or even Dorothea busy lunch time which I under why. Pretty disappointed at this place. I tried to make a reservation online but there was something wrong with their system, so I just did a walk in. Kurtis wasn't very friendly or welcoming. He told me the wait would be at least 2 hours. I asked if they could accommodate my mom's wheelchair and he kinda gave the impression that would be an inconvenience. We mainly chose this spot over other local spots because it advertised its milk tea boba drink area, but they didn't have milk tea, only hojicha mocha, matcha latte, and sweetened and unsweetened jasmine yuzu tea. They also only offered the all you can eat which was very limited to only 3 types of beef or two types of pork for the momo experience, or 3 types of beef for the waygu experience. I don't have a gallbladder so can't do fatty cuts of meat, so I asked was there a way to order side plates of other meats, he said no it's only AYCE for dinner. There were no chicken, or shrimp offerings. The service wasn't it, the food options were scarce, the serving areas were empty and dirty. So we went across the street to 101 hot pot instead. read more

This all you can eat Japanese hot pot (shabu shabu) offers nice variety and pretty good value. It's an additional $2.55pp for all you can drink that includes milk teas and boba toppings. The meats were good quality. We really enjoyed the beef short plate, beef eye of round, pork shoulder, and pork belly. We did not like the beef chuck eye. It added a lot of scum to our broths. The shabu shabu broth is really light in flavor. The sukiyaki broth was good, but it was a bit too concentrated and salty. I ended up spooning the shabu shabu broth to mix into sukiyaki to help balance the saltiness. The tomato broth can be very concentrated and salty, so definitely another one to consider diluting. The vegetable options were decent. I noticed there were some items that just weren't refilled very often like the shirataki noodles. The drinks were fine, but I was put off by the cups provided at the drink station. Since there's a high turnover for washing dishes the cups don't dry properly and have a gross and off putting odor (think of wet laundry that's been left in the washer too long). Took my dad on a little father-daughter date to Momo and we had such a great time. This was our second time back this month, and it never disappoints! We love coming back to Momo because of its inviting ambiance, premium ingredients, and excellent service.  The quality of their ingredients and their service is simply unmatched. The tonkotsu soup base is my favorite and the tomato soup base is my dad's. One of the highlights of our experience was our server, Jess. She was so sweet, bubbly, and professional. She constantly refilled our meats/soup bases, bussed finished plates off the table, and was accommodating throughout the meal. I will definitely be requesting her the next time I come back, and I suggest you do the same!  The combination of delicious food and an elevated dining experience continues to keep Momo as my family's go-to shabu shabu spot. Arriving for an early lunch, we had made a reservation prior and arrived there right on time. We got seats immediately and was ready to get grubbing. There is also a DIY sauce bar and a drink station (they have toppings to add to your drink like lychee jelly). There is also some cold dishes along with beef and rice. The meat selection are 3 types of beef and 2 types of pork. Depending on your fatty preference, there is something for everyone. When my friends arrived 20mins later she said we cannot seat because we are late. But the table is ready and empty and no customer is waiting at that time. I told her we can finish within our 90mins including the late time. She insisted we only have 40mins while we still have an hour left. And her attitude is really bad the whole time. We are sorry that we are late but we are willing to finish within our 90mins. Maybe she had a bad day but no one should be treated like this in a restaurant. There are plenty of hot-pot spots in the 626 area, but Mo-Mo makes it my pick for the most clean and simple option. I like their broths as it is not too strong, so it's perfect for building the depth. I also think the sauces are essential, and as someone who doesn't usually make/use the sauce, I really enjoy the sesame and ponzu. The staff is very attentive and always get what's needed from you. The ingredient bar is a bit more selective than other AYCE hot-pot places. That being said, I do feel that the quality is better and more fresh. I like to get a small plate of the wagyu beef curry as well. I also like to ask for the raw pasteurized egg to dip my meats in.
