Another hidden gem in Hartford. Not very busy but has a ton to offer, especially the menu. Was very surprised walking in and seeing how much they had available. I ordered the chicken salad and kabob combo which came out to about 30 dollars total. Very generous portion sizes, I ordered ahead and it was ready upon arrival. Great Greek flavors you want in a Mediterranean restaurant. I was extremely satisfied and will check them out again soon. read more

Not sure why I never reviewed this place as I enjoy lunch here on a regular basis. The owner is a kind woman who works hard to run this small place. It's always stocked with fresh vegetables for a really good salad plate. I normally get that with four different kinds of salad, a bit of rice and some lamb or chicken from a spit. Quick and price is just right to either eat in or takeout. It's survived the pandemic and if you work downtown it deserves it's place in your lunch routine. Always solid. read more

Not at all what I was expecting. The place is dingy and dark. The service was okay minus the heavy accent on the young lady taking my order, made it hard for her and I to communicate. I had a spicy beef patty, thought it would be like the ones in Jamaica it was not, it was very dry and had to be microwaved. For my meal I had the chicken and lamb combination. Both meat types were extremely dry and flavorless. The yellow rice and salad were the best things on the plate. I asked for and was charged for a pita and it was brittle and dry. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic gyro as it is not Greek or Mediterranean. read more

Found this lil place 10yrs ago, the lamb gyro was juicy and amazing. Since i don't eat beef,lamb is my go to and i have no problem wolfing down at least 4 in 1 sitting. The owners are very nice and made me feel welcome from day 1. read more

Gyros and falafel come down to the seasonings, and folks, MM's has it where it counts. This was one of the best gyros - and a *chicken* one, at that - I'd ever had, bursting with incredibly flavorful meat. I could eat a giant bowl of just that ... and I may! The falafel was similarly impressive; I've had quite a lot of falafel that was well-built, and had an attractive color, but disappointed on flavor. This was so tasty that, as with the chicken, I could easily eat a heaping pile of it. Two for two, MM's. Their menu looks gigantic, and I have confidence that this isn't the kind of place that performs well with their signature product and then phones it in everywhere else. I used to be a regular in this place. But haven't gone for more than a year. They modified the store, added more items to the menu and put a TV now. Most of the folks take a gyro platter here. I took lamb gyro. And added hot sauce from bottle. As usual it was very nice. May be that is their best food. It comes with one rice and veggies. I took the rice with carrot. That is my favorite rice here. They give a lot of fresh veggies on the side. You can also take one bread which is rolled in aluminum foil. All in all lot of tasty healthy food. I also took a beef skewer. Beef has flavor, but should have been more tender. Baklava is not as good as the Tangiers one. read more

Consistently inconsistent...in every way.. servers are different, quantity varies.. meat cooked to various degrees..and the price point..keeps fluctuating by 50-75 cents either way. They are now expanding their menu. Think they should concentrate on getting their core consistently good before they expand. I always skip the rice and go straight to the salads and then get the meat with sauces..interesting stuff. On their good days the food is excellent and if you catch them then, you will never be unhappy. read more

I never enjoy hating on a local mom-and-pop shop but this place has a couple of red flags. I ordered a combo plate and the plate was served in a styrofoam box. The server then place the styrofoam box into the microwave to heat the food up which I'm sure they know is a big No-No. styrofoam contains a lot of chemicals that bleed into the food once it is heated up in the microwave. In the post I show a picture of the styrofoam box after it was microwaved. The way it has concave shows that the styrofoam is affecting my food.if I wasn't hungry and had only about 5 minutes I probably would have just throw the whole thing away. I did pick at it and it is unfortunate because the sauce is very good but the meat taste like old meat that has been recently microwaved. the fact that they have to microwave the food in front of me also tells me that the food is not kept at a proper temperature since I did get chicken and beef. Question how they got that A in the health inspection that's place in front of the door when they very clearly have bad practices. Again I really don't like criticizing mom and pop shops because I understand that they do not have the same capabilities as corporations, but this restaurant also does not hold up to standards and someone can get sick from this. The staff is usually able to either answer my questions or point me in the right direction when I tell them what I'm in the mood for. Extra pita bread would be helpful (and sometimes they'll give it to you if you're super nice) but really they give you so much food that you won't be able to fit it. Im always sad to spend so much money on food for lunch for it to be mediocre. I used door dash for delivery since I was a stuck at work and the food wasn't cold. Wasn't an issue in terms of delivery. But the gyro was just falling apart and the paper stuck to my pita bread badly. I ordered the chicken gyro, the flavor was decent. The ladies that work here are really friendly and helped me through my order, since I didn't know what to expect. Unfortunately the food is okay. I paid $10.50 for a combo platter (lamb and chicken) and it didn't have nearly enough meat for the price. The meat, while well seasoned, was dry and tough. Said to myself that one day I would eventually go. I finally make it today. Sad to say that I did not enjoy the food at all. I read other peoples reviews about them upping the price at the end so I went in skeptical. I ordered a meal that the menu said was $8.50. I paid with a credit card and specifically asked for the receipt (which wasn't going to be given to me without asking). The receipt said $ 11.22. I asked where that price came from? No, just no. It is true - the staff is very kind, and the restaurant is fresh and clean, unfortunately these did not make up for my dining experience. And it pains me to give one star, but I believe on rating the food, and the experience as a cherry on top, not the experience as the foundation of a review. I was dreaming of falafel, so I ordered the falafel platter. My 2 falafel were promptly placed in the microwave and heated. Hm, I thought - that's a first. But ok, I'll try it. The kind woman behind the counter asked me at each station if I wanted each side order, as the platter came with rice, cabbage salad, tabouleh salad, greek salad, and stuffed grape leaf. yes to all, of course! Each side was spooned into a styrofoam box, around my microwaved falafel, so everything kind of mixed together. At the register, a gentleman offered me tzaziki and hot sauce. Sure, why not! The meal was pure disappointment. The falafel tasted nothing like falafel. The texture was very dry and grainy and lacking any flavor or spice. If this were my first go at falafel, it would certainly be my last. I was thankful for the plop of tzaziki to dip the falafel in due to the extreme dryness. The stuffed grape leaf - which I was hoping to be my backup, was equally bad. The leaf was extremely tough, and the veins in the leaf were so fiberous. There was no tenderness at all, it was like I was trying to bite into a tree leaf. Strike 2. The salads were a mishmash, and mostly overpowered by bell peppers because they were overwrought with them. There were definitely fresh herbs in there, which I liked. I did not notice any bulgur for the tabouleh, but it was seriously just a mishmash of veggies so it was difficult to differentiate between the salads. Not pleasant. The rice was actually pretty good, but it was just simple white rice seasoned with butter and a few chick peas. But it's white rice. Period. Needless to say I won't be returning. I can echo themes of (1) overcharging people (2) dry, tough meat, and (3) stale pitas My first time here they charged me $11 for a combo platter (no drink). But I was with a coworker and didn't feel like arguing. I was almost happy to see other reviewers here experiencing the same...That means they didn't only label me with "sucker." Another time one server was about to charge me $12, but the other said $8 around the same time, and they had an argument with each other about it. The food is tolerable once you coat everything with sauce and mix it up. But nothing to write home about. Especially when there are similar places nearby that are tastier (and cheaper). read more
