Their raspados is the real deal: ground up ice flavored with guava paste mixed in it. It was the perfect icy-cold treat to help soothe inflamed gums after having a deep cleaning earlier that extremely hot afternoon (119 degrees) in Los Algodones. That is not hyperbole.

The parakeets and other birds in an aviary delight children and those young at heart! Come here for the Quiche! Nothing on the menu measures up to the awesome Quiche! If we are not mistaken it's the only place you can enjoy Quiche in Yuma! The Vegetable quiche has minimal quantity of vegetables in it mostly one would notice bits of spinach. The Southwest Quiche comes with salsa. Both are served with "Fruit Bread" aka cinnamon bread and a serving of fruit! Wait staff seem a bit confused, overtly double checking each others customers and their own... the constant interruptions can be annoying. Perhaps merely attending to the removal of waste and empty plates and refilling beverages would be better use of their time.

I've heard positive things about Maranito Cakes, they've become popular among people with dietary restrictions. Many of Maranito Cakes' recipes call for the use of health inspired ingredients like almond flour and coconut sugar. So, I reached out to Manuel Acosta the owner of Maranito Cakes. Acosta was friendly, polite, and attentive. He told me that the inspiration for the bakery was derived from his own dietary restrictions. Acosta told me that his recipes come from his mother and his wife, who inspire him to create healthy foods with great taste. I ordered the banana-walnut loaf which is made of almond flour and coconut sugar. The sweetness was subtle, but where it lacked sweetness the banana and walnut flavors fused to make the dessert a memorable one. Since they deliver, they do not have a brick and mortar, just yet. But knowing them the ambiance will be amazing, homey and vibrant. We will have to stay tuned for that one.

They serve a healthy menu with a variety of options sandwiches/wraps, breakfast options, vegan, kids menu, smoothies, lemonade, coffees, alcohol (after 4pm) etc. I ordered a BALT sandwich meal combo--included fries or chips + lemonade (w/flavor options). No big deal, I thought. But the sandwich was served up on fresh sourdough and the bacon was chopped up into tiny pieces so it was so easy to eat without tugging, and served with avocado slices, tomato, lettuce and the right amount of mayo ratio (which was important). The homemade lemonade was a treat. And I had the garlic fries--delicious! As mentioned, I'm still thinking about how good that sandwich was. The place isn't huge but they seat a lot of people. Try this sandwich shop--it will not disappoint!
