I am really happy I made the switch! The office is located in a strip mall in Burke Centre, and has plenty of parking and is easy to access. The interior space is very pleasant, soothing, and immaculate, perfect for a dental office. Better yet, EVERYONE who works here is very warm, helpful, and friendly. After my initial visit in early March of this year, I had to come back for some more work, and I'm happy to say that they cheerfully re-scheduled my appointment several times when the stay-at-home orders started for the coronavirus. When I finally went in towards the end of May, they had multiple precautions in place against the virus. Since I am an older adult, I really appreciated this attention to my health and that of others. My actual dental care was terrific. Both the hygienist and the dentist, Dr. Ghorbani, took time to explain everything to me. It turns out I needed a crown (my first one), but I was not surprised as it was for a tooth that I had suspicions about. Due to some tooth coloration issues, he had my crown made not at his usual lab, but at one somewhere out west that specializes in matching tooth enamel in appearance. He warned me that it was more expensive, but I felt that having a nice-looking tooth (you can see the crown with my normal smile) was worth it. As it turns out, the total bill for all the work, after my insurance paid, was much lower than I thought it was going to be! Dr. Ghorbani and the rest of the Shield Dental Care staff treated me with respect, warmth, and gave me the best possible care. I recommend them to anyone!

Here Steve Martin isn't on the staff, but rather Dr G who is actually a really nice guy. Some orthodontists can have this attitude that negatively permeates a practice. That's the opposite here, as he's very genuine, and honest about what your options are. He's also quite funny, and having had novacaine I think it's called shots from him, he's far more gentle than others in the field. I was going to a different award winning dentist (Not Mr. Khan) far away because I really liked his services. I eventually decided to join my husband at Khan's practice because it's much closer to our new home. My husband had told me that he was nice to him, which I found not to be the case with me. When I first went to Khan's practice, it was obvious that he was not nice. He always spoke down to me though he was clearly very nice to my white husband. I'm a South Asian just like Mr. Khan. I felt like he was the type of person who talked down to women of his own color. I was always polite and cooperative, though I'm not a wallflower and was not afraid to speak. I felt as though it was not the expectation. Over time, I was unhappy not only with his snobby, attitude but also became with the quality of care. Some of my cleanings felt below average, and Dr. Khan once suggested veneers for very minor wear on my front teeth, even though no other dentist had ever suggested that and my teeth are healthy and well-aligned. It felt unnecessary. I had already started searching for another dentist in the area. The final issue involved a crown that was bothering me. I mistakenly thought Dr. Khan had worked on that tooth, but later learned my last dentist had handled it. My last dentist kindly fixed the issue at no cost, no questions asked without making me feel uncomfortable. At my next cleaning with Mr. Khan, he seemed upset about the confusion. He was visibly annoyed and spoke more arrogantly than usual. When I tried to explain, he loudly interrupted me and said, "YES, YOU WERE WRONG!" I found that extremely arrogant, unprofessional and inappropriate. I had already decided to stop going to his practice before the incident, but needed to get my retainers redone before I stop going because Mr.Khan already had the mold to my teeth. So, I called to have my retainers remade because the previous ones he made were broken, and I was told Mr. Khan did not want me to return to the practice. I was shocked that a simple misunderstanding about a crown would result in being banned as a patient! No professional should be this sore about something this small. My husband and I were purely going to Mr. Khan's practice because it's so close to home. I'm surprised but all the good reviews here on Google, which makes me wonder if him and his team do everything in their power to get rind of negative reviews. The practice has been exceptional in every regard. Drs. Kramer and Bunin are friendly, setting me and my daughters at ease at every appointment. They explain things clearly so I always know what's going on with their dental health. They work with my insurance plans to make sure I get the most benefit without having to pay more out of pocket. For example, at one time, I learned that only 1 fluoride treatment would be covered per year, so at my request they reduced it to once per year per girl. However, when my benefit changed, they made sure the girls got the second treatment again. Neither of my girls has ever had a cavity. They are 10 and 16 now. The office bills me appropriately at check out. Once I received a check from Dr. Kramer for an overpayment that I'm sure I would have never known about. Thirteen years as a customer with two daughters who see the dentist twice per year and I can't think of anything to complain about. That's pretty amazing. When we were new patients, they welcomed my daughter by name on a white board in the reception area. The staff is cordial. Reminders are sent and phone calls made for upcoming appointments. The issue was with the front office staff and one member in particular who either did not understand how to correctly process our insurance or was just incompetent and rude. We recently changed insurance companies, and she was unable to verify our coverage. Rather than calling to discuss and get it all figured out, she waited until my wife and son were at the office for a follow up appointment and had my wife standing at the front desk for 20+ minutes while she claimed that we didn't have valid insurance. This was needlessly embarrassing for my wife and son when a simple phone call ahead of time could have resolved the questions. Ultimately, I returned to the office and had a discussion with Dr. Kramer, who apologized for the whole situation, but at no time did the woman working the front desk apologize. I guess at the end of the day, losing one patient isn't a big deal for them, but we will not be returning to the practice and would urge others, especially those with military affiliation to avoid since the front office clearly does not understand how military retiree insurance works. So disappointed in how the whole situation was mishandled, especially since it could have so easily been worked out without the humiliation of my wife and son.

I've now had multiple treatments here and really appreciate the time Dr Khan takes to thoroughly assess each tooth to provide the right treatment plan. The facility is great and very well run. There are tvs in each room, modern equipment such as 3d handheld teeth scanners for more precise /comfortable imaging (I've ordered 2 night guards that fit great the first time they were made vs other offices where they've had to be redone, and the tooth images for fillings/crowns have been high quality showing the problem from multiple clear angles), and all of the office staff wear ear radios to communicate and get the patients in and out quickly. Unlike other offices that sometimes are eager to perform any procedure if there is a hint of problem, Dr Khan truly seems to look out for the patients interest and will choose to monitor teeth if there isn't an urgent need to work on them or suggest less invasive treatments (ie filling Vs crown) in attempts to minimize tooth surface loss.
