The staff was so patient though and spent a ton of time with me making sure that I was able to try on a million different shoes, make sure it was the right size, style etc. They have a really great selection too and are very knowledgeable as I also have over-pronation. I usually buy everything online but with shoes I really wanted that personal service to make sure that they fit and that I liked them. This way I can save myself from spending a million dollars online and then have to return all these shoes, and then probably forget to return half of them. You know how that goes... I'm so glad that this store is local and I was able to go in. They were also extremely accommodating one time when I had to make a return, as they stand by their products and service and ensured that I was able to switch into something else that I was comfortable with. It is bright and clean and easy to peruse the inventory. You simply pick out what you like and there are usually one or two people to get your size, make alternative suggestions and help you through the checkout process. My wonderful boyfriend is currently on a shoe kick so he asked me to come in to take a look at a beautiful pair of deep, dark brown suede boots with the toe and heel scuffed (the current trend---I don't know why the heck they had to scuff 'em! Makes them look used!), retailing at $200. The store is nicely decorated with that old money, Upper East Side vibe--on one side is women's and on the other, men's. Red suede chairs allow you to sit and try on shoes. But the store isn't solely shoes---they do have clothes for both sexes, not to mention some very nice accessories. And while Johnston & Murphy seems to be for those who work in the financial services area (and almost on par with Cole Haan's merchandise), there were a few more funky pieces---the boots my boyfriend was eyeing, as well as a red patent leather handbag. We sat and waited a good while for someone to help us with shoes. There were 2 or 3 other customers and only one salesperson. I thought perhaps this was a symptom of the economy---stores cutting back on staff. So we sat and waited until the salesperson, Gus, could help us. In between helping another customer, he asked for the shoe size needed, and brought us one--I said ONE--shoe to try on. Um, who buys shoes by trying on ONE? Well the one didn't fit. So we waited to get his attention and asked for a different size. Again, we were given ONE shoe to try on. Is this some kind of trick to get us to buy---again, economy related? Gus was now running around the store, ringing up customers, answering others' questions. I sat there and thought, "Okay. He's busy. He's the only one here. (I see one is a common theme.) We'll just wait." Well, this was a mistake. As if we hadn't had enough nonsense, Gus now gives us his full attention. He measures my boyfriend's foot---and since my boyfriend's a drummer, he has foot issues and usually gets his shoes a size bigger to accomodate. Aggressively, Gus starts going on about how he's sold shoes for 28 years and how my boyfriend doesn't need a size bigger; he needs a wide. Since we know which size is too small and too big, Gus says to buy the shoe the size in between from him today without trying it on because its out of stock--they have it in wide, but not in store. He'll order it for us and have it shipped to us and if we don't like it, we can return it to the store. "If you don't like it, I'll take the blame," he said. Dear reader, this went on for about 5 minutes straight with him telling us to buy it from him today. Absolutely ridiculous! I even offered that since we had to come back next week "to pick up a frame I was having engraved" (wink, wink), if he got the shoe in, we would come in and try it on! But as I mentioned earlier, this incident was economy related. :/ When we left, my boyfriend got on his iPhone, checked the Johnston & Murphy website and called their locations for the shoe in a wide in his size. Turns out the shoe DOESN'T COME IN A WIDE!!! Now I don't want to call anyone a liar, but if you go in and see a guy named Gus, don't say I didn't warn ya! Store is accessible, but around the clothes, it's a bit tight. I'm giving the store 3 stars based on quality and product. Minus 2 stars for Gus and the nonsense!

I was looking for a few outfits for my wife to give as a Christmas present. I had the pleasure of working with a sales associate named Gabby Herrera. Gabby took the time to listen what I was looking for and helped me select a few different outfits. Even though the store was very busy with it being a week before Christmas she took the time to call other Michael Kors stores found me all the items I was looking for ahnd had them shipped to me in time for Christmas and did it all with a smile. I begrudgingly went, and to my shock and surprise, it ended with me loving the shoes I got because it feels like I'm walking on clouds. I don't know if my back or knee feel any better, but my feet sure do !! The shoes don't necessarily flatter my feet or overall look, but when I step into them, I no longer care. Clouds, clouds, and more clouds... is what I feel... and that's fine by me. The sales approach is completely different from what I've been given, which isn't much of anything, to be honest, and these sales associates know their "shit." They really do, and to be further honest, I think that what other Yelpers have viewed as "rude" or "condescending" was just the sales people ripping apart all preconceived ideas and trying to teach us how to TRULY get properly fit for a shoe, be it for walking or running or whatever. It was an education for sure, and I can see why some would be put off by it. I didn't want to hear some of what they said, but they weren't wrong, either, and my feet are happy once again. He made adjustments and picked different pairs out from the back as I told him how the shoes felt. I landed on the Saucony Guide 19, which was not shoes that I had in mind or come across during my research. But they are super comfy and I love running in them. Owner of this shop has not even reached out once after multiple calls to apologize for the inconvenience or even offer some kind of break after all this trouble (and still having the wrong dress). I would never come back here or recommend anyone go here. Owner is a terrible business person and should be ashamed of themselves for not doing right by customers. My one star was for the 2 sales people who helped me when I went to pick up the dress. Both were sympathetic - 1 assisted in placing the express shipped order of the 2nd dress and the other tried to have owner reach out to me for an explanation. 0 stars to the shitty owner who still has not called me.
