I did not have a positive experience at Salon 809. My appointment did not begin at the scheduled…read moretime, and I waited approximately 45 minutes before my service started. When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Due to the poor customer service and lack of value, I would not recommend this salon.

I live in Virginia, so it's a hike to the salon. But Meisha did such a wonderful job that it was worth it and I would go back. It was a little confusing finding their unit, but I called and they kindly directed me the right way. I was impressed at how efficient Meisha was. Usually bleaching my roots is a 3+ hour appointment, but she cut, bleached and styled my hair in 2.5 hours. Really appreciated that. And the cut and color was the bomb! She really understands hair. Sometimes Word of Mouth is the Only Way to GO!…read more I am way overdue to write a review as the salon is fantastic, when it comes to ... well everything. I've been in the DC area for about 8 years and struggled the first 3 years to find a stylist with whom I felt comfortable, was a top-notch professional and was respectful of others time. I eventually gave up, opting instead to go back and forth to NYC. It should be obvious that this option was not only expensive but time-consuming. Something had to give. Then, about 2 and half years ago, a friend gave me Luxe Looks card. While she had never visited the salon personally, she swore that anyone walking out always looked fabulous. She found out about Luxe by accident when she complemented and asked several strangers who their hair stylist was; no surprise they all said Luxe and gave her a business card. After a few weeks of debating with myself, I called and made an appointment and have been coming back every since, and that was more than two years ago. I have never been disappointed with the professionalism, service, experience and ultimate class displayed by all of the employees. My hair is healthier, longer and more vibrant. This is a must-try experience.

Charisma has the sweetest spirit, she listens to what you want, is extremely knowledgeable about hair, and I can't say enough about how fair the pricing is. You will be hard-pressed to get a sew-in for under $350 in the DC area, but you can tell Happy Tresses is mindful of the working woman's price-point and standard of quality. I should also add Charisma did the best cornrows I've EVER had in record time. My sew-in laid so flat, the style still looks brand new 5 weeks later--I honestly don't want to take it out, but I digress. I haven't tried the bundles yet (because I already had hair before I made the appointment), but the Brazilian Island Wave and Indian Steamed Curl are right up my alley and next on my list. She also makes some gorgeous/stylish wigs and I think I'm going to have to break down and buy one. Waldorf is a bit of a hike for many, but it has been absolutely worth it. I have a natural hairstylist already but Charisma definitely gained a loyal client for all my weaving needs. Thank you!
