I live a street away from this turo-turo, and it is my go-to place when I want to eat something really cheap, fast and delicious. The lutong-bahay style food is freshly prepared everyday by their kitchen staff, and it is relatively clean and presentable, unlike other carinderias with soggy and unappetizing offerings floating in their juices and oils. What I love about Mixx is the interiors. They renovated about a couple months ago and their new dining area now has a gorgeous old-style wooden ceiling fan and carved wood features on the ceilings. Before, it used to look like a sari-sari store but they knocked down the shelves with the tacky merchandise and replaced it with a shelf that displays the different native vinegars, honey and other similar products from Ilocos.
The food is always diverse - here you will find vegetable dishes, pork dishes, fish, stews, barbeque and of course, their trademark empanada, which is meaty and a quite big for P45. You can also order from their silog dishes, and I would always get the bangusilog because the fish is rather large and the serving of fried rice with egg is huge. My usual meal here would not even cost overP70. Dinner service is usually very busy, and many families and groups would occupy the long tables and sink into the scrumptious offerings from the turo-turo. read more
