Moving locally an apartment and two storage units. Movers showed up on time, each of the guys introduced themselves and they never stopped working until the truck was loaded. Very careful with our belongings. The owner showed up to help at one of the storage units as well. Still have one of the storage units to move but extremely satisfied with what they've done for us so far. Very reasonably priced as well. We had been referred to them via one of the guys building our home from another person that had used these movers. Glad we went with them. read more

We used Mitchell Moving to relocate to South Carolina. Rick came to our house and provided an estimate. He told us that if furniture that we planned to sell did not sell they would take and donate for us, that they always bring a second truck as a backup in case there is overflow and that they put tv's between mattresses but bring tv boxes if that did not work. Unfortunately none of that was true. On moving day the truck was 3 hours late and was a U-Haul truck. So instead of starting at 9:00 as we were told and confirmed the day before, the crew arrived after 10:00 to wrap and gather while the truck did not arrive until after 12:00. Because they did not bring a second truck and the quantity of the load under estimated, the crew crammed and jammed to get almost everything on the truck. They also did not bring enough blankets to wrap things, so we have items that were damaged and an expensive mattress with rust stains since it was not protected. The crew were hard working and did the best that they could, but did not have what they needed for a positive outcome. I would not use Mitchell moving again. They need to be upfront and honest that they are at the mercy of U-Haul for truck availability, they do not bring tv boxes, have limited wrapping supplies, do not put mattresses in moving covers, and do not bring backup for overflow. While Michell provided some token compensation for the delay and damage, it does not offset the frustration, anxiety and damage that did occur, and that what was told as standard procedure at the estimate, did not occur. read more

Moving from out of state, I had two 16' containers filled with all of my things. I lined up Mitchell Moving to unload the containers. These guys were great! They were ont ime, careful with the furniture, and did not waste time. There were some heavy pieces of furniture, and they handled it easy. Great job. Price was reasonable. I can overlook the minor wall and other damage done by Mitchell during my recent move, but not when they dropped my treasured antique secretary 4 ft. from the back of their truck face down on to my concrete drive. Of course the full length curved glass door and leaded glass side panel were completely destroyed. Even the wooden frame was shattered and split. Upon claiming a modest 1/3 of its estimated value above Mitchell's laughable $0.60/lb insurance, Lance not only refused any further payment but ridiculed my claim and even went so far as to accuse me of being a blackmailer and a cheat. So, for those of you about to move, I suggest you pay a little extra and hire a reputable professional. read more

At the last moment Uhaul told us they don't deliver the Uboxes to Bean Station, as they agreed to in our original contract from San Antonio. Uhaul would drop them off in Knoxville and how we got our stuff was our problem. We called this moving company who was able to get our stuff loaded into a truck and deliver and unload with a week's notice. They were very helpful in a stressful time. Lance and crew were awesome. I arrived in Maryville with a 48' trailer that was full of household goods. We realized that we were unable to get the tractor and trailer near the house due to the road being narrow. We were able to locate a parking lot approximately .8th of a mile from the home. Lance and crew unloaded the trailer into a smaller truck and made several trips to the home. They did an excellent job, there was no standing around, and completed the job in amazing time. Michell Moving was a five star service for me. My furniture arrived from West coast to Knoxville Tn.. I was informed from the other company that my two shipping containers couldn't be delivered to my location in Newport Tennessee. I called Mitchell Moving and they schedule my day for pick up in Knoxville. I was informed that this would take about 5 hours to make the move. Mitchell Moving continue to contact me on a regular basis to see if there were any changes up to the the day of the move. I drove out to the lot and unlocked my container and the rest was up to them. A total of 4 young guys showed up and put me at ease. They delivered my furniture on time and put everything where I requested. Quite terrible. Showed up 3 hours late. I handed them moving blankets and rachet straps upon arrival. They packed my straps in the truck. I had to go buy more. Or let them load unsecured. Good thing I did because I would've had even more damage. Wooden bed frames, kitchen table, dresser, wine rack, essentially everything wooden had at least some damage. They also removed a door and didn't put it back on. I'll never use them again. I hope my friends never use them either. read more

This company moved us a mere 6 miles last September. Initially sent 3men, 2 of which just stood around and smoked (throwing the butts in our driveway) for 2 hours. When my husband finally arrived, there was suddenly 3 more guys on scene. Even then, what should have been a 2-3 hour job took them 5 hours. They scratched almost every piece of our nearly new bedroom furniture and our $3,500 fridge that's not even paid for yet. The owner said to sends pics so he could file with insurance, which we did. I,m very disappointed with Mitchell Movers from Knoxville TN. I contacted the owner (Vance) and requested a 3 man crew, specifically someone experienced to pack the truck and 2 movers. I also mentioned I was moving a three bedroom home, but only two bedrooms of furniture, NO kitchen appliances, and NO sofa or love seat. He suggested a 20 ft truck, but I decided to rent a 26 ft (better safe than sorry). Long story short, it was the packers FIRST TIME, and he left large holes, and didn't have the vision or knowledge to fill those holes. I wasn't able to take all my belongings, and had to call friends and neighbors to (give away my things)!!!!!!!!!! I immediately called the owner and complained, and was promised a partial refund..and NOTHING. I have called him twice since, and still nothing, A liar and a dishonest business. I paid in full and lost about $4000 dollars worth of belongings. read more

lance and darryl were hired to help me with a bullet list of 3 pages. i moved recently and have no one to help me, so they arrived and started right away. hung pictures,removed mirrors in the bathrooms, moved boxes up and down 3 levels, assembled a filing cart, loaded my truck with trash and took it to the dump, put up a motion detecting spotlight, and a lot more. they were gentlemen and very helpful, always asking what else i needed done. we laughed and had a good time while my entire 3 page list was completed. price was more then fair. i already hired them again to help assemble and move 5 big beds once the carpeting is installed, then hang more pictures, etc. i will have another big list for them. they are a real pleasure and a huge help. so happy i found them. read more

Terrible movers, they don't listen to the people that are paying them, it took them 9 hours to move a 2 br apt to a storage unit 8 miles down the road so you would think taking that long they would have done a better job! They packed the storage unit awfully and didn't get everything in it so they left my daughters expensive glass tables, some tires and a shelving unit outside the unit and when we went back to get them to put in a smaller unit the stuff had been stolen plus the owner was on his phone with other clients alot and they were rushing to get to another job so I think that made them sloppy and I wasn't please at all! When we went to get in our unit bc the geniuses[NOT] packed my daughters bag that had her wallet, important documents, etc in it we couldn't get the door open bc they put the sofa and my jewelry armoire against the door that fell over and blocked the door so it took all 3 of my family working together and getting injured to unstick the door and get it open. They have no organization to them at all! They got their full payment for their work even though they don't deserve it all in my opinion but lesson learned, I will never use them again, not will I reccomend them either! read more
