This one have lots of benches and picnic tables for owners to sit and rest. There are a few trees and it's flat and open. Fully fenced and secured. They have doggy bags for picking up doggy Doodoo. Came early in the morning and they were actually more people than I expected. Nothing fancy, but if you need a place for your dog to just run free and off leash, it does the trick. read more

A decent, albeit kind of small, area, Mitchell Dog Park is my regular haunt mainly because it's the closest non-terrible park to my house. The grass isn't the best, but it's much better than a lot of other parks I've been to. There are some not-great owners that won't do much to stop their annoying dogs, but that's also true of pretty much any dog park. It's fairly well maintained and is well lit. There are a bunch of benches and tables and such, certainly more sitting space for owners than many other parks I've been to. There's a little area for water with bowls and everything, but I usually just bring my own because it's often flooded over in that corner. The area isn't huge, but definitely is enough space for pups to run around and play. I have noticed that it's more large and medium dogs than small, and there isn't a separate small dog area. But it kind of just comes down to the individual dogs and whether you think they'll do fine playing with larger ones. The one annoying part is the parking. Because the dog run is adjacent to the street, it's hard to walk up to the gate without a bunch of dogs freaking out, since your leashed dog is walking along the fence to get inside. read more

Last stop before our flight back to San Francisco! My husky puppy Oz had a blast and slept the whole way home. For a weekday, it was pretty packed with dogs and humans. The dogs seemed well-behaved and socialized. It was the first time that Oz actually played well with a German Shepherd, a breed he usually fears. Street parking can be a challenge, but not as much as San Francisco. The park itself is pretty expansive lengthwise and had a good amount of seating for humans. My only complaint is that some edges of the park were muddy, even though it hadn't recently rained. It was especially dirty around the water fountain, which was expected. Surprisingly, I'd still come back to this park because of the positive dynamics we experienced, not so much for the quality and upkeep. I'm sure there's bad experiences awaiting, depending on the day, people, and dogs there, but I just have one visit to base this on... that's kind of what Yelp reviews are for, right? read more

There's a lot of good owners who come here. But, many (most) don't pay attention to their dogs, not seeing correctable behaviors or waste elimination occuring. They come in, watch their phone, or socialize with other owners. Leave not picking up the waste. Some come in and encourage excited behavior the dog will redirect to other dogs (assertive dominance). As with most things dog related: the problem is the people, not the dogs. read more

Would not recommend this park at all! There's always dog poop on the ground, no green grass at all, and there's tons of flies everywhere. Its full of young people that let their dogs loose and don't watch after them. My dog nearly had its achilles snapped because of overly aggressive/dominant pitbulls and german shepherds in it. Would recommend going to CLARK PARK! 1-2 mins south of here for small-medium sized dogs. read more

This is an excellent park in a convenient location full of friendly dogs and people. The enclosed area itself is sizable but all dirt, so your dog will definitely be dusty/muddy by the time you leave. The edges of the fence are lined with picnic tables and benches, and poop bags are provided. There are also bowls and a water fountain. We used to go to Quail Run because we live in west Mesa, but the people and dogs aren't as friendly as they are at Mitchell. If there were more available parking and grass in the park, this place would get 5 stars. Safe to say we're making the switch permanently! read more

This is a great dog park! Its down University from my house, always parking in front, and is the perfect size for my doggy. Its closed in and all the dogs get to play with eachother. I love the tables and benches they have because I can bring my textbooks and read for an hour while Ari gets all his energy out. p.s. watch out for these 3 creepy guys with a white pitbull named Whitey. Decent size park with lots of grass and benches lining the walls. When we went here it was very muddy though in certain places, so if you have a dog that likes to roll around in the mud, beware! There is one large fountain with water available at human and dog level. The grounds themselves are a bit smelly; throughout most of the dog park I could smell dog poop. There are various stations filled with bags for you to use though. My dog had a pretty good time running around, sniffing things, and wandering around. For the most part this park is secure, but at the entrance there is a wider opening at the door that very small dogs could slip through. For now it's been blocked by a large jug of water. read more

I am in tempe for a few weeks with my pup for work. I was searching for a close dog park so I could take Toby the dog for some playtime while on a short break. I was lucky enough to find this park that was less than a mile from where we are at ASU. Toby was very excited! The fenced in area is decent size and has several park benches and tables . They also have a nice water fountain with a doggie dish for your thirsty doggy. Plastic poop bags are provided and the park is lighted after dark. My review is for everything about Mitchell Park minus the dog areas. I play sand volleyball regularly and the city does a great job at the upkeep on the courts. The city actually recently replaced and raked new sand for both courts! There is a plethora of things to do at Mitchell- volleyball, soccer, basketball, playground, big sidewalks for walking/running, etc. Lighting is not an issue- you can turn them on for at night vball & bball, unfortunately not for the soccer field. It's a nice neighborhood park! Has a dog water fountain and plenty of benches and tables to sit while your pup plays! It was our first time here but every time I've driven by there is at least one other dog there. Today there were plenty to play with. There is little to no grass so the park itself is dusty. But there is plenty of room for dogs of all sizes to run around. There isn't a separate park for smaller dogs so if your pup doesn't like larger dogs then probably not the place for them. But my two 20lb cocker spaniels loved it! read more

What a cute dog park! Plus it is a big dog park. There are plenty of benches for the parents to watch their doggies play with their friends. There is also shade for the dogs. What was awesome is that the park had plenty of water bowls for the dogs. Nena was having a hard time choosing which bowl to drink out of. She decided to try all of them. Best of all there was a pool for the dogs to cool of in. Yes it's just a plastic kid pool but it's the thought and idea that the park would provide this for dog lovers. Nena loved the pool!! Super disappointed in the HUMANS at this dog park. I have NEVER seen a filthier dog park. I am upset because this place was cute, close by, the people were friendly. But I just cannot go back. Literally every 5 feet was a pile of dog poop. I dont understand how this happens considering there are bags and scoopers PROVIDED FOR FREE! Will this be our Dog Park of choice - No. Is it acceptable - UMM.... So, the grass isn't well maintained, there is POOP everywhere. Like everywhere. I tried to pick up my dogs poop and couldn't find it between the landmines. So I may or may not have thrown the right one away. Just gross people. This is a small, flat park with a few trees and benches surrounding the perimeter. The times I have come here other dog owners have been respectful and the dogs have all been friendly and playful. I didn't see too much poop here. The dog area is between a residential neighborhood with street parking and a park next to what looks like an old, boarded-up school. Although the dog area is small, it is enough room for a short visit to get your dog some much-needed off-leash exercise! There is grass, some green and some dried up, and some dirt patches, and a few trash cans around for all you *responsible* people to dispose of your pet's droppings. read more

Pretty solid dog park. Nothing special, but definitely worth a visit if you live in the Tempe area. The park is located in a cute neighborhood and is surrounded by soccer fields, basketball courts, and a playground. The fenced in area isn't huge but it's plenty big to accommodate all the dogs that come here. Every time I come here.. Weekday or weekend, morning, mid-day, or evening there are a decent amount of dogs playing around. All the dogs and people I've come across have been friendly. Only complaints is the poop scattered around the park (not the park's fault, but still unappealing) & the overflowing, foul-smelling trashcans. I went here with my small but friendly dogs. One likes to wander and the other sits in my lap normally. Three dogs belonging to one owner would not leave me or my dog alone. They kept jumping on me the whole time and obviously upsetting my dog who really wasn't interested. I take them there to socialize but no owner or dog should have to constantly try to stop 3 medium to large size dogs from jumping all over them the whole time. The picture is some of the scratches I got from the other dog. I get it, it's a dog park but that's much too aggressive to have an owner just sit by and say nothing to her dogs. It's a wonderful dog park, really. But at night, half of it gets REALLY dark and you can't see what you're stepping in.... (+)I love all the tables and benches, and a decent amount of grass for a busy bark park. Most of the dogs are angels, and their owners too. And the fact that the trash cans have lids. I absolutely adore this dog park! I have been searching for a park like this in the area, it is worth a visit. This is the only dog park around that has actual plush green grass. It is nice and spacious, shade trees everywhere, more benches and tables than can be filled, and the surrounding neighborhood is artsy and gorgeous. Only the very occasional poo left behind. The dogs here are generally well mannered, I have not seen any instances. Dog owners are also very friendly, generally a younger to middle aged crowd. There are lots of clean tennis balls at this park which my kiddo loves. In the direct vicinity are playgrounds, basketball courts, a soccer field, and volleyball net. There is a drinking fountain for humans, fresh water fountain for dogs, as well as bowls and a kiddie pool for your dog to enjoy. read more

This is a decent size dog park for the amount of 4 legged guests that come. Double gated at the entrance which is something I always love to see at a dog park for safety. One negative about this park is the mud. There is one particular section next to a nice tree that is just continually one big mud puddle. Would be nice to see them block this area off for a week and plant some grass. 1 muddy dog could mean trouble for the rest of the dogs. There are various benches and tables scattered around, poop bags are readily available from dispensers and tons of tennis balls laying around for you to toss around. As far as the 2 legged guests I can say I've had positive experiences with every dog owner I've encountered. Some are more social then others. My dog is very high energy and loves to play fight and chase with other dogs. Never had an over protective owner say anything. I'd recommend going to this park if you are in the area. My dog loves coming to this park. It's large enough for a full yard of dogs. The park has a water fountain and doggie bags. It's closed on Mondays- not sure why, but I went on Mondays enough times to learn better. Sometimes there are bad mosquitoes. This is by far the best dog park I've been to in Arizona! The owners are all very friendly, they provide poop bags and keep the grass green the best they can. Many of the owners bring toys and little swimming pools to leave there so other dogs/owners can use them!
