Being a patient of Dr. Mitchell's for many years, I can tell you that you will NEVER have a dissapointing appointment. Be it her charm, humor, or dedication to her patients and her craft, Dr. Mitchell never leaves you wanting. Her office at Water Tower is beautiful, the moment you walk in the door you'll know that you have come to the right place for your dental experience. The reception area has a complimentary refreshment bar full of spa soda's, drinks, snacks, and the icing on the cake; CHAMPAGNE! The generous staff includes a massage therapist, who can conquer even the sorest of backs, as well as an esthetician, even as a male I must say the facials are amazing, I had never had one and was very pleasantly suprised. The best part about the spa aspect is that the facials, and massages are completely free with every treatment, which is very relaxing after your time in the dental chair. As for the dentlal experience, it is unmatched. Being a very nervous patient, having had horrific dental experiences as a child, I must say that Dr. Mitchell is an angel. I've had plenty of dental work done in my life and due to her tender touch, no longer fear the needle. She uses an aenesthetic that has a nuetral pH, which doesn't burn, I know it sounds crazy, but you don't even feel the injection. Her level of dedication is unbelievable, being the leading dentist in cosmetic dentistry, you will be amazed with your results. I was interested in changing my smile and spoke to Dr. Mitchell about my options. She recomended that we use some of her new technologies which range from jaw joint analysis, to 3D models of the teeth and how they come together when I bite. After deciding on invisalign, which are invisible braces, Dr. Mitchell was able to cure my jaw joint pain and chronic headaches, and give me the smile that I always dreamed of. Because she puts the patient before all else, keeping your overall health and well being in mind, you can rest assured that she will get you the results that you want, and often at a lower price than you may have previously thought. I would rate the overall experience as an A+, her staff always makes you feel welcome, several of whom are pretty good looking, her dedication to you and your dental needs should serve as an example to others, and her utilization of the new leading technologies assures you that you are recieving the care that you deserve. I give Dr. Mitchell and her staff 2 thumbs up and a gold star, keep it up! read more

I was reading through some of the reviews after visiting Dr. Mitchell and I agree with the rave reviews. After 2 years between cleaning Yikes! I know but I had a bad experience that kept me from my usual annual check ups....Anyway, a friend referred me to Dr. Mitchell and I was glad she did. Greeted by a friendly receptionist I was offered a variety of beverage options, decided on a blackberry fizzy drink and sat in a leather lounge area to fill out the usual forms. I was quite nervous as my last dental experience in the city ended in a painful deep cleaning and costly, questionable treatments. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and education I received. It was a long but very thorough appointment as I tried to squeeze the appointment in on a lunch hour. I had x-rays taken and examined on the spot, gums, tongue and jaw checked. I'm a "grinder" and after mentioning an achey jaw, I was checked for more potentially serious problems with "what looked to headphones" placed on my jaw and measured for sound and alignment. Apparently there are only a handful of dentists that even offer this test. Who knew?! It didn't feel like a "doctor's visit" as the chairs had built in massage, a tv w/ headphones while you wait and a nice view of the lake. It felt more comfortable than clinical. The equipment was very high tech. After my x-rays were taken, we viewed the interior of my mouth on the tv through a Kodak program. A lot has changed in the 2 years between visits! ; ) I opted for the10 minute complimentary shoulder massage by a gal named Dee Dee. If you go, ask her about how to relieve tension in your shoulders using a tennis ball. She was very pleasant and it felt indulgent having a quick massage knowing I was heading back to work. There was a woman there with her young child and I thought this must be a nice treat for her as she was a busy mom, able to get a dental appointment and a little tlc at the same time. Who doesn't yearn for that. Went back later for a cleaning by Lauren. We talked as if we were friends, she was gentle with the cleaning, recommended an Oral B electronic toothbrush and sent me on my way...I was out the door in 45 minutes. Not bad for an 8:00am appt. I will definitely recommend Dr. Mitchell to friends. read more

After reading the Yelp reviews and speaking to a friend who recommended Dr. Mitchell, I decided to give her a try. Mitchell's office is located in Water Tower Place (yay shopping!) and the views from her office are amazing. When I first walked in I was surprised at how nice everyone was, especially the office manager Jeff. He definitely made me feel less scared about my dentist appointment and even offered me a drink and a snack before and after my appointment. The receptionist asked me what kind of spa treatment I wanted before I went in for my appointment and offered to give me a tour of the office before I sat down to meet with Dr. Mitchell. I went ahead and got the full tour of the office which was incredibly nice for a dentist's office. Not anything I would have expected, it was more like a spa than a fluorescent-light-filled dentist's office. Even the bathroom looked like it belonged in a spa. When I sat down in the dentist's chair the dental assistant came in to take a bunch of x-rays (it felt like a lot but thorough is always better in my opinion) and gave me a remote and turned on the nicely-sized flat screen t.v. to make the x-rays less annoying. When Dr. Mitchell came in she was so nice (thankfully) and after examining my teeth she told me I had extremely white teeth for being a smoker (I know, save the lectures!). Turns out, the entire appointment only took about a half an hour (excluding x-ray time) and I couldn't wait for my spa treatment afterwards. After my appointment was done I was led into the spa treatment room which had nice calming music and a comfy spa treatment bed. The receptionist who had checked me in before my appointment came in and gave me a 10 minute back massage, which was absolutely wonderful. I honestly didn't know what to expect because of the mixed yelp reviews but I can say that Dr. Mitchell is extremely knowledgeable about dentistry and all-things-involved with teeth. Since my check-up went well and I didn't have any cavities, I plan on definitely going back to Mitchell's in 6 months for another check up. I recommend Dr. Mitchell to anyone who wants a luxurious, non-threatening dental experience. The complimentary spa treatment is a plus too!! read more

Mitchell Dental Spa is unlike any other dentist I have been to. No other dental office that I've been to is as attentive, knowledgeable and customer-oriented as Mitchell's is. From the moment I entered the office I was treated with complete kindness and offered everything possible to make my visit more comfortable. I was personally introduced to each staff member who worked with me, as opposed to many dental offices in which someone will often just enter and begin working on you without one word spoken. I loved the fact that I could tune out to the channel of my choosing on a flat screen TV above my head during my appointment! I went to Mitchell's to have a root canal filled and the job was done in less than 15 minutes. I couldn't believe how quick and painless it was! However, Dr. Mitchell stayed to talk to me and answer questions I had about a completely separate issue. One of the staff even went into my mouth with a camera and projected it on the flat screen so that they could show (and not just tell) me what it was that they were talking about as they explained things to me. I received as my complimentary spa service a back massage that just topped off the experience. The massage therapist was not only amazing but asked me questions to personalize my experience. I had just come from a stressful apartment move the night before and she worked the tension and stress right out of me. I also got a facial at Mitchell's and it was fabulous. The aesthetician was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She explained each step of what she was doing and why, not only leaving me with a glowing face but also knowledge about my skin and how to treat it that I had never had before. By the time I left Mitchell's I felt like a completely new woman. My tooth was taken care of and I felt better than I had when I walked in - something that isn't always the case with a dental visit. I did not have a permanent dentist in Chicago before I went to Mitchell's - now I do! read more

I used to go here. Now, I have changed dentists. They have a nice office with very modern equipment and, yes, there is champagne in the lobby and flat screens with cable for each dentist chair. And Dr. Mitchell is very friendly, which is why I started taking appointments with her. That was before they moved and became a "spa". After several specific incidents, I decided that I did not trust their judgement and felt that they valued the all-mighty dollar above the interests of me as their patient. Margaret Mitchell offers many wonderful and unique services, but this was not what I wanted from my dentist so I have moved on. Specific instances aside, one general item that really bothered me was that going to Dr. Mitchell was like seeing used car saleman. The constant upselling and agressive sales techniques just got annoying....like being in a clothing store except they did the upselling while I was vulnerable in the dentist chair wearing a bib with sharp instruments in my mouth. If you do go to this office, I suggest that you: - be careful that they are not giving you proceedures that are not covered by your insurance...call your insurance directly - remember that you can say 'no' if they try to quickly and nonchalantly add extra work or do anything unexpected while you are "in the chair" - consider getting a second opinion if they suggest an expensive proceedure or replacement - be clear with them upfront about the service you are expecting to receive so that there can be no miscommunication or misunderstanding - tell the receptionist to please use your contact information on file for billing and emergencies only Also, if Dr. Mitchell's lawyer is contacting people who review them on their Yelp page, it means that they have a good and engaged lawyer on hand. My opinion: Think twice. I always felt taken advantage of and like I had to be on my toes with this dentist. None of the other dentists that I have ever seen have made me feel this way. read more

Not your mom and dad's dentist I was referred by a friend to Dr. Mitchell's office and had a very pleasant experience. Immediately upon arrival, I was offered a beverage while filling out some paperwork. You get plenty of options, I opted for a little champagne. Shortly after, I got something I never would associate with a dentist office, a back facial/message, but then again, this is a dental massage establishment. The message itself was fantastic and the lady who did it was very friendly. I got to listen to my choice of music while it was going on, which is a plus as well. After that, the usually dreaded cleaning was to take place, but this time it was much different. I sat down in a message chair and watched the White Sox game on a TV. in front of me while the cleaning took place. The hygienist was very friendly and it took roughly the same amount of time that it always had at any place I've ever gone to. Afterwards, I was explained everything that was going on and told the best way to solve some of the dental issues I have. Dr. Mitchell came in and was extremely friendly and outgoing as well. We talked a little while she put the finishing touches on me and I even got my champagne topped off after I was all rinsed out and good to go. They gave me a great goody bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, coupons and rebates for a power toothbrush and water pick, etc.). They took some pictures and showed me some other work they could do for my teeth on the big screen, which I am strongly considering. The entire staff was extremely friendly and really do cater to your every need while you are there. It is located in the upper levels of the Water Tower and has great views to boot. This is unlike any dental office I have ever been to, and actually makes you look forward to going to a dental office. I would recommend this place to anyone, I know I will definitely tell some family and friends about it. read more

I came to Mitchell Dental Spa after a long, painful journey with an infected tooth. What started on a business trip in New York lead to 4 visits to 4 different dentists with 4 different suggested treatments that ultimately ended with a root canal. What bothered me most about this incident however was just how unpleasant each of my visits was and the lack of knowledge/expertise that each specialist seemed to have. Once I learned of Mitchell Dental Spa I thought I would give them a shot, as I hadn't been happy with any of the other dentists and I now needed a filling for the tooth that had the root canal. Mitchell Dental Spa far exceeded my expectations. From the moment I entered the office I was treated as if I was a guest at a spa; offering a drink, introduced to each of the staff, asked what I'd like my complimentary spa service to be! Dr. Mitchell was kind and incredibly knowledgeable. On top of listening to my nightmare tooth story, and giving me a check-up after she filled the tooth (with no pain in less than 10 minutes might I add!), she provided her expert opinion on other unrelated dental questions I had. It was very refreshing to not have her rush in and rush off, like many other doctors I have seen do. As my complimentary spa service I got a back massage that literally drained the stress right out of my body. The massage therapist even asked me questions to personalize my experience which is very important to me because I have a history of back problems. I left Mitchell's with a totally new perspective on dentists. I was treated with the highest class service from beginning to end. I only wish I would have known about them sooner! read more

I am a marketing professional and know the "in's and out's" of a powerful marketing strategy. All I have to say is that Dr. Mitchell does not need marketing, as her superior service, patient care and passion for what she does speaks for itself. I have always had a fear of dentists and used to get great anxiety over even having a teeth cleaning! To my detriment, I would post-pone appointments as long as I can because I got so stressed out by the thought of getting into a dental chair! This has ALL changed since I met Dr. Mitchell and her exceptional team. I have been a patient of the practice for nearly four years now and just had a cavity filled today (I am guilty of way too many sweets). Even the experience of having a cavity filled, is somehow made enjoyable and even desirable by the small niceties she has in place (such as the TV to watch and listen to on head phones so you don't hear the noise, the blanket to stay comfortable while laying in the chair, the view, the hot towel and the facial or massage after your appointment. Dr. Mitchell has truly changed the way I view my dental appointments and has actually helped me overcome one of my greatest fears. I have recommended family and friends to her and would say that one appointment will change your views on dentistry as well. Thank you Dr. Mitchell and team for yet one more exceptional appointment! read more

I'd give them 6 stars if I could! Dr. Mitchell and her staff are absolutely world class! Just finished up another visit to her office and was blown away again. The experience from start to finish is as pain-free, enjoyable, and timely as I have ever experienced. They have massaging chairs with tv's mounted so that you can relax during the procedure. Her staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. They are upfront about cost. I just had work done to repair a crack, Dr. Mitchell told me she wouldn't be able to tell if it were going to require a filling or a crown and Jeff and DeeDee priced out both options for me the same day and even worked with me to figure out a payment plan. Luckily it was just a filling and from start to finish it was a pain-free and amazingly relaxing procedure, didn't even feel the injection! I have had many cleanings over the years and I actually look forward to going to the dentist! I recently found out that I grind my teeth at night and they used very high tech instrumentation to determine whether it was a muscular problem or a problem in the joint. The guard that I now wear is very comfortable and I no longer have chronic headaches like before. All in all the absolute best healthcare, not just dental experience of my entire life. Would highly recommend them to anyone, and I often do. read more

My experience at Mitchell Dental Spa can a great one. I can honestly say that during my appt., my overall fear of pain and nervousness quickly dissolved as I was immediately treated like I owned the spa. Each person who worked with me kindly introduced themselves, offered a detailed explanation of every procedure that did on me and also offered a bevy of complimentary drinks and snacks during my wait. During my check up/ cleaning, Dr. Mitchell used high-end technology which allowed me to actually see inside my mouth and also understand why it is so important to floss! What really surprised me is that they are not kidding when they say there are AMAZING views of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier to view while getting your procedure done! Following my procedure, Mitchell's aesthetician brought me into the spa room where I enjoyed an refreshing complimentary 'lunch break' facial and lip rejuvenation. Their organic and natural products left me skin and lips so smooth and hydrated. I felt so good, I didn't want to reapply my makeup! What I probably loved the most about the spa treatment is that the aesthetician allowed me decide whether I wanted to use certain products so I felt like I was creating my own facial! A++ read more

I can summarize my experiences at Mitchell Dental Spa as nothing short of spectacular. From the minute you walk in the door and are greeted by smiling faces offering you an assortment of premium beverages, you feel like you are visiting an old friend (albeit a friend with a very chic office). I cannot rave enough about the friendliness and competency of the staff and Dr. Mitchell is by far the most gentle and plain speaking dentist I've ever had. Her sense of humor and attention to patient comfort are enough to make this a unique dentist-going experience. Add to that the massage and lip hydration services, and you won't be able to believe that you ever spent a second in a cold, clinical and stressful dentist office in the past. Dr. Mitchell and her staff have always gone the extra step to minimize my anxiety about a number of procedures and the effort is always made to give me options when available. Let's face it, we all prefer that just-stepped-out-of-the-spa feeling to the just-stepped-out-of-a-dentist-chair one. That is the difference in going to Mitchell Dental Spa; you are left feeling refreshed and comfortable. read more

I have been traumatized by dental work my whole life. I knew I had to have major dental work done, and my previous dentist was being sued for malpractice. It was hard to trust and my anxiety was over the moon. I had to have a root canal, 3 teeth extracted, a cavity filled, a crown put on and an implant done. For someone traumatized by the dentist, I was NOT looking forward to this dental adventure. Dr. Mitchell, her team which not only include the front desk & assistant, but Dr. Barber who did my extractions and Dr. Syed who did my root canal are OUTSTANDING! The entire teams warmth, and friendly nature not only helped sooth my anxiety, but allowed me to trust again. Everyone's knowledge and expertise helped make this adventure as painless as possible. I will NOT go anywhere else. If she retires, I will get dentures so I do not have to see anyone else. I don't want to see anyone else, because this team is the BEST you can get. I wish I could give everyone in this office, and affiliated with Dr. Mitchell and her team, a higher rating of 10 stars. read more

I absolutely enjoyed my entire experience with Mitchells Dental Spa. This is saying a lot for me, since I do NOT like going to the Dentist. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. I had the teeth whitening procedure done, and my teeth look a million times better. They explained everything that they were going to do to me and why, so I just sat back and watch TV while they worked on me. They even got me a blanket when I felt a little chilly. I had no sensitivity during the procedure or after. They took every precaution to make sure that I wouldn't. When they had finished with the whitening, they offered me a 10 minute complimentary massage on my way out. Never would I have thought I would be walking out of a Dentist office that relaxed. Again, I just want to thank the entire staff for making my visit so wonderful. I recommend their services to anyone looking for a completely different dental experience with expert attention. The most surprising part is they are less expensive than my old dentist, and they never gave me a massage on my way out. read more

My experience at Mitchell Dental Spa was fantastic. I received the most comprehensive dental exam from Dr. Mitchell complete with useful information along the way. When I walked into the office, I was offered complimentary snacks and beverages right away. I received a complimentary lip rejuvenation service while I was waiting. They sat me in a comfortable chair to watch a gorgeous flat screen TV, not to mention there was an excellent view of the lake. When Dr. Mitchell came in, she was friendly and made me feel completely comfortable. I learned more about my own teeth and mouth during this visit than I ever have before. She also noticed things about my mouth and teeth than my previous dentist never shared with me. In addition to the standard checkup and teeth cleaning, Dr. Mitchell tested for things such as jaw popping, teeth grinding and oral cancer which is completely proactive and beneficial for any patient. On top of everything else, the 15 minute complimentary massage to finish out the visit was delightful. read more

What can I say...The new Spa is amazing. But first let me say that even before the fabulous Spa, I was a huge fan of Dr. Mitchell. I started seeing her in her old location in the Loop and loved my first visit and every visit thereafter. Everyone (reception, the hygienists, Dr. Mitchell) is kind, personable, funny, and they all do great work. Additionally, the prices are right and the front desk team has gone the extra mile with my insurance company to make certain I was getting all the coverage I am entitled to. And now with the Spa -- Whoa! Dr. Mitchell has an emergency which made my appt. later than scheduled and while I was waiting the massage therapist in the office gave me a 15 minute massage! Are you kidding! It was awesome. So if you want a top caliber dentist with a great sense of humor, in an idyllic environment I recommend Dr. Mitchell. Oh and you may want to WISH you have an extended wait (which is rare by the way) so you can get a complimentary massage. :) read more

I have had the dental scare over and over again and I have to admit I never thought I would go to another dentist consistantly, let alone actually look forward to it! I was introduced to Dr. Mitchell before she had the spa portion of the business and was so pleased by the level of service and attention to detail. Moving forward, of course I love the massage chair while i'm getting my teeth cleaned (I still can't believe that one!!), or catching up on my Oprah while I get a cavity filled, but it is the friendly atmosphere and level of service that in the end keeps me coming back. I have recommended Dr. Mitchell to many of my friends and everyone comes back with the same exact response....Why didn't you tell me about her earlier?? She is wonderful.... Don't believe a dentist can change your mind about everything you've ever thought about dentists??? Check her out, I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

This is definitely the classiest dentist I've ever been to!!! With awesome views of Lake Michigan/Navy Pier, flat screen TVs, warmy fluffy towels and a super nice staff, I felt incredibly relaxed and more like at a spa than an appointment. Dr. Mitchell really knows her stuff and she even took the time out of her day to get to know me and not just rush through everything. I learned things about my teeth and jaw that nobody has EVER pointed out to me. Also- when I made my appointment several weeks in advance I asked if they could move me up if anything opened up. They actually called me when an opening was available... I feel like most places don't take the time to follow up like that. AND!!! The spa treatment... what a great way to start my weekend after a long week of work with a massage. I felt great when I left, how many times can you say that about a dentist appt????!!!!! read more
