When designing the bathrooms, Jason provided great recommendations on making the best use of the small space we had available. He kept us involved with all decision making, basically walked us through each step, and was always very responsive. His rates were very fair, and he created a schedule so we knew what we were paying and when. Jason turned our old, dated bathrooms into two beautiful, spacious bathrooms. Without hesitation, I would recommend Jason and his team to anybody needing updates or new construction for their home. He seems to take great pride in his work, and it shows. Next time we need updating or construction for our home, Jason will be the person I call.

About a year after finishing that project we had a water leak that destroyed most of our kitchen. When we discovered the leak we were not sure who to call. Jason was our first call and he was at our condo within minutes, he immediately recognized the problem and had a plumber at our unit the same day. After realizing the damage that had been done to our kitchen we worked with Jason to completely remodel our entire downstairs. We opened up our kitchen space and along with Jason's help designing we were able to create our dream kitchen. My wife and I had never been part of a remodel before, and Jason helped us everything step of the way. We were able to customize and create everything we wanted. My wife and I have the kitchen of our dreams and I now also have the living room of my dreams with three tv's all mounted and with no wires showing. Jason was always cognizant of our budget and was honest with us if a certain idea of project might not work within out budget. Adam, Lenny, and Daniel who work with Jason are also amazing. They always respected our condo and cleaned up everyday after work was finished. I can't say enough good things about working with Jason and Castle Construction. We hired him twice and will hire him again for our next project.

Praise of Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor…read more I have had the opportunity to work directly with Jed Hirsch twice after he was referred to me by another homeowner and two building contractors. I first met Jed when a homeowner I house-sit for was doing an expansion on their home. I was at the house during the deconstruction and construction of it. I can tell you that the site was clean, organized, and well designed from what I saw. As the family was living in the house during construction, steps were taken to keep the property as dust-free and secure as possible. Later, a house I worked at in Hope Ranch was in need of some major water abatement treatments due to poor construction ten years prior. To put it in perspective, most contractors shied away from this job. Others were just not qualified to complete the task. I then asked around to a couple of contractors that I know and Jed's name came up twice. Both said that homeowners love him as he is a sticker to details. Jed and his crew took on the tasks of removing and reinstalling large, two story windows, tearing out and reinstalling beautiful stone deck around half of the 12,000 square foot house, organizing and meeting with water abatement professionals, installing the suggested abatement materials, plastering walls to match the color of the existing walls, designing new sheet metal jambs... well, the list goes on, but I won't bore you with the details. To say the least, it was quite the undertaking, but the house was watertight once completed and it did not look like any reconstruction had been done. It should also be mentioned that Jed arranged the workload of the contractors so that they were not stepping over each other, thus causing making the project as cost efficient as possible and completed in a timely manner. Should I have other future construction needs, Jed will be on the top of my list of people to call.

Remodeling and new home construction can be very stressful and anxiety inducing, however, our experiences with Campbell Construction have proven very different from the anticipated norm. Phil brings a proactive and forward-thinking perspective that allows one to sleep easy at night knowing that, not only will the finished product exceed your expectations, but there will be minimal surprises both physically and financially. Our experience, and that of our architect, is that contractors seldom build what is "drawn" and often compromise. Thankfully we have found that Phil often takes the plans and improves them due to his extensive experience and his creative approach combined with a keen eye for the finished aesthetics. Would we use Campbell Construction for another project - undoubtedly YES! We just wish we could persuade Phil that Seattle is where he should establish a second presence so that he could work on our Washington home.

Jimmy led the installation team, and he and his workers were friendly and courteous. All the pavers were installed in a single day, and the joints were filled with polymeric sand the next morning. I was initially taken aback by the two star review average until I noticed that there was only 1…read morereview (and especially after reading it. This review is really a response to Cameron C.'s low 2 star review. I have not yet used Pat Thomas Drywall but he came highly recommended to me from a very trusted source. By reading Cameron's review it is very clear to me that he knows very little about the construction process and the chain of responsibility but he needed someone to direct his anger at. His frustrations with wavy walls and gaps between trim and drywall are grossly misdirected. It is the framers and/or GC's responsibility to straighten walls before the drywaller ever shows up. This is a process sometimes called "shim and shave" which was evidently not even considered by the GC. Another step that the framers should have taken while initially building the walls is to "crown" (this is a verb) ... crown each stud in the same direction when building every wall. Crowning 101: The "crown" is the natural curve of the board. If one does not take the time take the time to "crown" (verb) the studs in the same direction then the end result will definitely be a wavy wall. To crown a stud means to hold it right up next to your eyeball looking down the length of the stud and determine the direction of the natural curve (crown) of the stud. Very often it is very slight and difficult to detect. If that is the case then the stud is pretty darn straight and it won't matter which way it is installed. But more often than not there is, at a minimum, a slight "crown" and you want to make sure all studs are crowned in the same direction. Now, going forward again to the shim and shave step, even a wall that was crowned properly when it was built will still need some love before it's ready for drywall. The studs have likely dried out and moved a little bit since the wall was constructed so don't assume that crowning studs alone makes straight walls. It only makes shimming and shaving much easier. Now that Cameron has hopefully learned a little something about how to create a reasonably straight wall we can now talk about trim gaps. Again, the drywaller did not frame the walls, set the windows, mill/install the jamb extensions or the trim. So Cameron ought to have a conversation with the GC, his framers and finish carpenters. The extra charge for the repair is legit! If it seems high it may have also consisted of a "recoup" $amount for wasting his time trying to deal with such bad framing. They do not price jobs with the assumption that they will have to use twice as much mud and spend extra time flattening what should have already been (reasonably) flat. Side note: I keep using the term "reasonably" because not only are houses are built with wood which is an unstable and imperfect product, but there is also a combination of composite wood products (that do not shrink at all) solid wood products (that do shrink...the greater mass the board has, the more it will shrink) and metal or steel products that expand and contract with temperature. All of these products are often sandwiched right next to one and other. Another factor is human factor. Some humans do better work that others and no one is perfect. I understand that perfection may not have been C With all of that said there is a reasonable expectation of the drywall contractor to make straight lines at inside corners, wall to ceiling corners and outside corner beads. Cameron doesn't seem to be complaining about any of that though. I decided that it would be fair to Pat Thomas to off set the 2 star review with a 5 star so that consumers don't automatically run away when they see the low review average. I intend to solicit Pat Thomas Drywall and if we do work together I'll revisit the Yelp reviews when we're done. Dave A.
