I came here with a group of friends for their Clue Live Event. Tickets were about $100 a person and includes food (a buffet) and entertainment. I didn't have high expectations for the food, but it was better than expected. When you initially get there, there is a Cheese and Fruit Charcuterie Board as a snack. There is also a bar with a small selection of drinks (not included). For the buffet, they had assorted fruit, salad, pasta salad, and bread with the main entrees being roast beef, salmon, roasted potatoes, veggies, and pasta. The food was great, especially the salmon! For dessert, they served carrot cake. After you dine, they start the interactive show of the murder mystery. It follows like the movie/board game where someone is killed and you have to figure out why, where, who, and with what weapon. The actors were good and really into playing their roles. You explore thought the mansion (which itself is huge and cool) and check rooms for clues and interview the possible suspects. They reveal everything at the end and the team who gets everything correct gets a small prize. Overall, a fun experience if you want to try something different with friends. I do recommend coming with a group or you will be seated with random people. read more

Came here for their annual whisky dinner and was amazing at how great everything was. Cocktail hour has great cheese and other apps, followed by the tasting and then a fantastic dinner with drink pairings. Everything was great. I really can't say that enough. read more

Went here for one of the special events - Clue Live. The grounds and mansion are BEAUTIFUL. Walking around is impressive and memorable. We were greeted at a front desk and shown the way to our event. Every one of the staff was friendly and accommodating. We can't wait to go back for another special occasion in the near future! read more

Top shelf. Typical MIT eggheads... everything is near perfect yet the WIFI is down and there are no coat racks in the room! Ample parking. Two facilities. One is a French Chateau style and the other more like a Cape Cod business center. Both are nice. Plenty of hospitality and a great staff. Snacks, food and beverages are also rampant and high quality. It's a fancy-ish hotel. Someone's dead relatives stare at you from many walls. They supposedly grow their own greens, which then are drowned in heaps and mounds of oil and vinegar. That said, the conference room was pretty nice. The v6 option would have been great had it been routed outside the conference room. Also... No alarm clock. Really? Yes, my laptop works quite well as an alarm clock, but not leaving options is an interesting choice. The exercise room in the main building is kinda excruciating. Might work in the dead of Massatwoshits winter, but during the summer it's not quite good pain. The killer part: The state of the tapestries and paintings is shameful. Tattered and dirty. The quality of the sleeping and conference rooms pulled it back to three stars. Otherwise this has all the trappings of stinky, decrepit old money. Caveat: I'm Berkeley. This is MIT. So of course I'm going to laugh at the "exersize" room. Which, btw, has been re-purposed as another conference room. read more

I was really excited for my stay at the MIT Endicott House. Unfortunately, when I arrived the excitement turned into regret for booking at such a poorly run hotel and conference center. I had called and informed the front desk staff that I would be arriving at 9:30pm, and ensured there would be someone to help with my bags. Upon arrival there was one individual working at the desk. She informed me that there was no one to help with my bags, and that also the elevator was broken. She could not assist me with my bags and suggested I store them at the desk over night. I decided to carry my own bags up the stairs, which would not have been that big of a deal, except the lights in the old, creeky stair case were broken. So I was carrying my bags, in the dark, up many flights of stairs, alone. The next day I shared this experience with the other woman at the front desk, and her reply to the whole situation was "well you should have been able to see from the hall way lights." No apology for the inconvenience. I asked to speak to the manager who again, tried to excuse the situation by giving me a history of the way old electrical wires work. Instead of extending his apology. He did offer some wine, but I do not drink, so this seemed a bit of a moot point. Over the course of the weekend the front desk staff was truly rude and so unprofessional. They never looked up from their desk to say hello or check in. They were rude when asking questions and seemed as if I was "putting them out" when inquiring about parking needs. It was really the worst lodging experience I have ever had. I highly suggest NEVER staying here. There was one woman in particular that was truly awful. I was appalled by the way she treated me. Especially if you're planning an event here, I highly suggest reconsidering. The wait staff is nice enough but beyond that, the staff ruined what could have been a totally different stay. Attended concert and tea here today with Jane Austen Society. Beautiful mansion and it was decorated for the holidays, so very festive as well. Parking is adjacent, handicapped spaces at the top level and guest parking below, a short walk up, very nice stairway with bench at the top but you still have to cross the driveway. Reception desk, coatroom, and restrooms all on first floor. Concert was held upstairs as was the tea in the "gun room" with cabinets and taxidermy a few folks renamed it the library. The food was very good and the service gracious. We were not outside as it was a bit chilly so cannot comment the grounds, except the front entrance which was very stately. read more

This venue is OUTSTANDING. My company was here for our Board of Trustees Retreat in late April. I cannot sing their praises high enough but I'm going to try. Let's break this down: Facilities: We were actually in the adjoining Brooks Center, right next to the Endicott House proper, and it was lovely. Parking is in a couple different places over the campus but is abundant. The building is very nice, modern, feels very cozy. The restrooms were very clean and well kept. The conference room itself was set up perfectly and our set up was pretty intricate with round tables, laptops, an LCD projector, and flip charts. The room was ready to go when we arrived. Very nice. Food: We had a light breakfast spread and refreshments provided outside the conference room. They were fresh and well stocked throughout the entire day. We were served lunch in the dining room of the Endicott House and it was lovely. It was a double sided buffet full of delicious and fresh food. Salad, fruit, vegetables, rice, fish, a carving station, soup. Everything was upscale, cooked perfectly, and definitely not your standard boxed lunch sandwiches. The dessert was abundant and rich as well, with chocolate cakes, mousse, and cheesecake. Staff: I dealt with several staffers throughout the entire process but mostly with Diane. She was communicative, prompt, friendly, accommodating. Just a pleasure to work with. Everyone else I worked with were friendly and attentive too. Price: With everything included the cost was $85 per person. To me, this was a steal. The amount of care, attention, and quality we received from the Endicott House was unparalleled. I would recommend this place HIGHLY and would return any time for a work function. read more

Our student government holds our annual kick-off retreat here in late summer, and it is always one of the highlights of the year. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept.The manor itself is beautiful, and we always have our lunch in there. The lunch menu changes every time and it is always a sumptuous surprise. The meeting spaces are clean and well-equipped. There is ample natural lighting to help brighten up the atmosphere. They provide ample snacks, drinks, and delicious coffee for the meetings (high-quality items like Kind Bars and fresh fruits!) We have had special requests in the past, and they were always fulfilled perfectly. Honestly, good morale makes for the best meetings, and there's nothing quick as supportive and focusing than an overnight retreat at the Endicott House. read more

If I could, I'd give "Three and 3/4 Stars." But sadly I am bound by Yelp's statistical and logarithmic parameters, so here I sit at "Four." Alas, this place is pretty rad. It's unique architecture and grounds suggest a VC Andrews novel, or a fantastic spot for goth teens to try their hand at amateur vampirism. Either way, it looks cool. The good: the staff was extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating - we had rented (or so we thought - more on this later,) the entire place for a family event. They served pretty good food (not mind-boggling but way better than I expected,) and the rooms are clean, spacious and fresh. There is a very peaceful vibe happening here of you can find yourself alone long enough... The bad: apparently renting the entire house for the weekend does not preclude the weekly "Mystery Dinner Theater" from occurring on the lower floors and about the grounds... Sigh. Ok - I know a lot of actors and I'm gonna try to be gentle here - let's just leave it at this: I was on my way back upstairs to get my pre-party on, and there, half way up the stairs to our (supposedly) private floor, we encountered a heavily-make-upped, flapper-ish looking, wide-eyed woman sporting a red feather boa and a recently-drugged expression. "Do you know where Martha is!? She tried to kill me!" Pause. "Uhhhh excuse me." As I try to New York around her without sustaining eye contact. "Where are you gooooooing!?" she shrieked, proceeding to crawl up the stairs after me in a crouch. "I'm going to my room - I'm not part of this, please stop." She looked hurt and confused, but private the house was not. Not even close - during our dinner, as heartfelt speeches were delivered to our beloved grandmother, screams, applause and a bad cover of "Dancing Queen" were more than audible through the glass doors and windows. Later, while catching up with my sister in our private room on our private floor, 2 non-English-speaking ladies just threw open the door and jumped with surprise at seeing us. "Sorry!" they yelled, as they proceeded to then try all of the other doors on the hallway - behind which were my aunts, uncles and cousins... I had to shoo them back downstairs and explain that their murder cocktail party did NOT entitle them to peep the private rooms upstairs or to bother my family - we have enough stress when we all get together, we're all set with that, so please go away. So, I would say this - if you want a unique and cool place to stay (though the pool sat empty in July, which I found to be a huge bummer,) this is a pleasant, albeit out-of-the-way spot - just call ahead and get a DETAILED itinerary of what else might be happening during your stay (read: annoying you during your stay.) If you don't feel like having random strangers see you in bed unannounced, you might be slightly off-put... read more

I attended an event here about a week ago. It was a dinner show called Finnegan's Wake. The show was fabulous - very entertaining. The venue was beautiful. The buffet dinner was delicious and plentiful. The staff was professional and very friendly. It was such a lovely evening. I would love to attend other events there. I have delivered public sales seminars in the Boston Area for Wilson Learning for the last 20 years. 2 years ago when the hotel we normally use was booked for my desired dates, I found the MIT Endicott house. Attended the Endicott Abbey murder mystery this past weekend. The characters were terrific and the food was very good particularly for dinner theater, but be forewarned this is essentially a sit down dinner and you do not leave the room. I don't know if they've changed this recently, but I had purchased this location specifically because I had heard and thought it would be a fun interactive experience to go through the different rooms of the mansion. t is essentially a 2 hour sit down dinner, and the characters come to your table to allow you to ask them questions. For the producers, I would suggest to open it back up. I think part of the draw of having this type of show and making a trek to a mansion, is actually seeing the mansion, as confining it to that room doesn't do it justice and perhaps catches some patrons offguard who were expecting a mansion experience read more

Was here for a two-day retreat and in echoing the other reviewers, was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the estate and the level of service provided. It is in the middle of nowhere though, so iof you are coming in from downtown boston, you'll have to have directions on you since cabbies might not know where dedham is. The grounds are beautiful-don't miss the Alice in Wonderland scene recreated in teh gardens. At the time we went, the pool wasn't ready yet for swimming, but it looked large and must have been fun to be in. The food is amazing...i seriously wish i could live somewhere where food magically appeared all the time like it does at the House. For the most part, the staff was engaging and responsive. The night guy however was not as responsive as I wanted him to be. Creepily, I had a ghost story-esque event happen to me (the phone rang three separate times around midnight and the vm box lit up but there were no messages!) and the guy didn't seem to care at all. He didn't try to reassure me and ended up just saying that he didn't want to take care of it until morning. So i asked him what I should do and he said to just wait and see if it would ring again and if it did, to disconnect it. Very reassuring for a solo woman! Needless to say, I was wound tightly pretty much all night! Other than this incident, awesome stay! read more

We had our brandeis Volen Bauer funded retreat here two years ago. First it is pretty easy to get to off the freeway. Second the grounds are lovely. Third the temperature was perfect in the meeting rooms (<-- This rarely happens, I am ALWAYS too cold) and last but not least - the food rocks. Mmmm warm rolls, soup, carving stations! And breakfast was excellent too! Fresh fruit a variety of teas (alas I am not a coffee drinker so this was a highlight of mine) and danishes! I love sugar in the morning, but there were also a lot of bagels. Love it! Considering going back again this year =) read more

My husband and I recently attended a Scotch tasting/pairing dinner at Endicott House (his Christmas present from me). The GM was a gracious host, and he brought in a very knowledgeable gentleman to help us discover the depths of the various brands of Scotch we tasted during the evening. The food was excellent, especially the appetizer course (a red pepper stuffed with sausage risotto). The portions were large (too large, as a matter of fact, for us), and the Irish Coffee at the end of the meal was a perfect dessert for me. I must eat gluten free, so sadly did not get to taste the chocolate bread pudding, and my husband was too full to eat his. The scotch went well with the menu, and the presentations during the reception and in between dinner courses were very informative. We stayed the night in one of the guest rooms in the mansion...quite lovely and clean, though the bathroom vanity is showing its age. All in all, it was a great night out and my husband thought it was a terrific gift. read more

We held a work event ( a town hall meeting and summer outing) at the MIT Endicott House facility. The meeting was held in the conference center. The AV was set up and no additional attention was required during the meeting. The quality of the breakfast was excellent as was the staff who regularly checked in to see how things were going. The meeting room was bright and large enough for our group of 30 attendees. After the meeting, we walked over to the Terrace where we had an excellent buffet lunch. The staff there was also excellent. The amount of food was great and the selection of salads, burgers (Angus, salmon, veggie), beans, corn, watermelon, along with an ice cream sundae bar got rave reviews from our staff. There are lawn games available as well as gardens to walk through. They even left out board games for those who don't care to play lawn games. All in all, it's a great facility with a very accommodating staff at a reasonable price. I recommend for staff events. read more

I stayed one night in June prior to a day-long midweek meeting. I'm split on my ratings here: I would prefer not to ever stay overnight in the main house again (rating =2), but the conference facility and the food were both very good (rating = 4). I had a room on the third floor--a double with a huge bath and walk-in closet. I'm not sure, but I think both beds in my room were double/full rather than queen; that's okay with me, but taller guests could have a problem. The bed was also quite firm. The real problem I had was temperature control: a small and somewhat noisy window air conditioner kept tripping the outlet breaker which turned it off, so I sweated through a rather uncomfortably humid Massachusetts night. Unfortunately, I wasn't alone in having passed a sleepless night, so if you do need overnight accommodations, the newer section may be a better choice. That said, the actual conference room was very comfortable and we didn't lack for anything in the way of beverages or snacks (not one but two kinds of Italian water were on offer, for example). The A/V equipment functioned flawlessly, temperature control was good, and the seating remained fairly comfortable, even after several hours. Meals were surprisingly good, in particular our dinner. I had filet mignon that was fork tender, and care had been taken in selecting the sides and plating the meal. Colleagues who opted for the vegetarian option were also very happy. (Note to the chef: topping fish dishes with bacon means that observant Jews and Muslims can't partake, and it sounded delicious otherwise. Just a thought.) Desserts were also a highlight--everything I sampled actually tasted as rich and decadent as they looked, which is a rarity in conference fare. The staff were without exception friendly and accommodating, and the estate itself is quite something. read more

The facilities here are fine. My problem is the staff. Everyone I spoke with was rude. Very short, no desire to help, too busy to care. I'm from the middle of the country, and people always say "Everyone is so friendly!". Well, I guess it's true. I've never felt so dismissed as a customer in my whole life. I was not impressed at all with my 2 night stay. When I first arrived, the woman at the desk was not friendly at all. Just as you walk into the hall, there's a desk on the right. Apparently, this is the "registration desk". She gave me my room key for the 2nd floor, I brought my stuff up there and could not find the closet. Another woman came up with me and showed me that it was what I thought was a mirrored glass door bookcase. When she opened it, I saw that the hang up bar was at least 12 ft. from the floor. This was definitely a challege for my 5'2" body, so I did mention this, mainly because I had dressess with me to attend a wedding and I needed them hung up. They decided to changed my room to the 3rd floor. The room was bigger with 2 smaller beds, one was extremely uncomfortable, the other not as bad (or I was exhausted from the lack of sleep the previous night). My organization had planned for us to have dinner there the first night. This was the biggest disaster of my stay!! I was served a plain thin piece of chicken breast that looked and tasted like it was "cooked" in a microwave. It was also not edible, unless you like rubber! With this I was also served their idea of a baked potato, it was 1 1/2" long by about 1/2" wide, I didn't even know you could find a potato this small. I was not even given any butter, cream cheese, oil, etc. It came with NOTHING! I waited about 5 minutes, then walked out to the kitchen myself to ask for butter. Unbelievable!! I went to bed very hungry that night and that made me peeved!! They claim they're a "green" place, yet they mostly serve individual small plastic bottles of water, hmmmm! I would NEVER, EVER return this place by choice!! The only good thing I noticed was the fact that they do hire "special needs" adults, for this I commend them, but only for this! read more

Recently held a corporate celebration. The food (Texas Steak BBQ) was exceptional. How did the chef get each piece of meat cooked perfectly? The ice cream bar was a huge hit. Every staff member is exceptional. Every step in the process was handled professionally. When there were a few small special requests each staff member went beyond expectation to make sure all details were covered. I highly recommend MIT Endicott House. read more

In a word, Shangri-La. Others words that come to mind are romantic, intimate, hospitable and fun. The place is eye candy for people tired of sterile, cookie cutter hotels. The staff was most attentive, catering to our every whim as well as answering a multitude of questions about the treasures scattered about the mansion. We attended a Scotch Pairing which involved several bottles of exclusive whiskey coupled with gourmet dishes. The food and accommodations were heavenly and the lecturer was most informative.
