I wish I would have seen the reviews for this business. What an awful experience and they didn't even complete the work. They just sold me extra hard drive space which I didn't even need but they said it "might" fix the problem and it didn't. Stay away from this place. they open my computer do a diagnostic and when I went to take it elsewhere upon opening the laptop at home screen was no not attached to the lid and the retaining part was missing. I called the store to get the missing parts back, they could not find it. they said they were going to order it it hasn't been done after 4 days I can't get into my database, computer is non-operable and they are absolutely impossible to deal with. they won't repair it the screen, they are horrible about letting you know the procedure to order parts. I had worst and unacceptable experience ever from one of staff and their services. their service mind is zero. they doesn't know how to fix computer. they treat your computer like trash. and just fraud your money. don't ever go there. complaining staff name: Bradyn Mitchell complaining business name: MIT computers I dropped off my laptop computer for diagnosis on 10/17. The diagnosis fee is $40 and it will be credit toward to any repairing fee. i called and visited them 3 days after their promising date. they told me it will take $300 to fix my computer. $200 for reinstalling the window and $120 for replacing DC jack. but bradyn mitchell told me that he can repair the DC jack for just $80. so i requested to just repair the DC jack. but next day he failed to repairing the DC jack. so i went there to pick it up. but my computer got a lot of scratches on top case and power was completely out of power. I was very upset because my new computer got so much more damaged then before. However Bradyn Mitchell offered me again that one other specialist who is most expert person in this field can fix my DC jack. but it will be cost $200. he can give me $100 of store credit for scratched case. basically he want to charge me more even though he damaged my computer so much. I tried so hard to talk with his boss about this issue. but i couldn't get hold of him. Bradyn Mitchell told me that with 48hours his boss will call me. I accepted his offer to fix my DC jack from another specialist on 10/23. With $100 store credit of scratch damages, the charge will be $200. however his promise didn't make it this time again. he promised me he can fix it within 2 days 10/25. he never called me until after 5 days, neither his boss 10/27. so i called him on 10/28 but he was just saying that his boss will call me tomorrow for sure 100%. and he can't do anything about it he said. not surprisingly, no one give me any feedback until 10/29. so i went back on 10/31. he was saying that he can't do anything more with my computer and just giving me back. i paid $40, didn't fix anything, just got a lot of damages, and stopped my own work over 2 weeks. read more

Thrilled with the customer service and level of expertise here! My computer died and my hubby sent me here to get a power supply. Braden tested my old one and confirmed that it was most likely a dead power supply. When I got home my husband installed the power supply but it turned out the fan was too loud for what I do with audio recordings. So we called Braden and he gave my husband some information about how to maybe make the fan quieter. Unfortunately my computer doesn't have the hardware for that. So I called back and asked if there was another power supply that could be quieter. Braden said yes so I headed back to the store. Turns out the more expensive power supply is just what I needed and Braden installed it for me with no extra charge. I highly recommend this computer store for any of your needs!! read more

Despite their business rush at this time of year, he communicated regularly relative to progress, pricing and expectations. We also managed to crush an iphone screen in the interim and they fixed it while we waited - and in time for our laptop pick up so we only had to make one trip! Awesome, professional service. The pricing was competitive. They have a $40 diagnostic fee that is applied toward the repair. They accept major credit cards except Discover. We have worked with quite a few computer and phone repair services, but MIT on Fowler stands out - we will return! Reviewed this establishment about 2 months ago, now it is gone. Not letting it go this easy. Went in for an estimate to repair my lcd screen on my laptop. (screen costs about $60.00 on ebay). They had it in stock, but quoted me $249.99 plus tax. I know, you can buy a new laptop for that. I also knew it only would take about 20 minutes to install, so I offered them $150.00. Mgr said "no can do". Totally tried to rip me off. So I bought the screen off ebay ($55.00 total) and paid a local tech $40.00 to install it. Saved $160.00. Location in New Tampa is the same way. I have a custom-built computer that I have been using as a media server (it has also been performing routine backups), but it stopped working so I took it in to see if they could fix it. They installed Windows 10 pro and a new hard drive, but I am not able to access it without a keyboard, mouse and monitor attached. Servers are not supposed to require this. When I dropped the computer off, I told them that e-mail was my preferred method of contact. They have been ignoring the majority of my e-mails, and the answers they have given me have not been helpful. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Complete waste of time. The hinges on my laptop were coming out and breaking. Kyle said they could definitely fix it, but they needed to do a diagnostic to see exactly what needed to be fixed and he would call me the next day to give me a quote. I called them the next day after receiving no call to find that they hadn't even looked at it. I was adamant about getting a quote, so the guy on the phone looked at it and gave me one. Then on Monday Kyle informed me that nothing was wrong with the computer and that the hinges were "in there pretty good" and I shouldn't worry about it. read more

Would not recommend using this place! They were going to replace my MacBook top half because I broke my screen. When I picked it up I noticed the top of the "brand new" laptop was scratched and had a large gouge on it as well. I asked the guy what happened. He said "must have been shipped that way." I asked him didn't it get shipped in bubble wrap? He said it was but I wasn't happy that I paid $600 for a "brand new" top to a MacBook and it be given to me scratched. He offered to send it back. I asked if he could give me a discount because I can't leave it for a second week because of work. He said he would ask his manager. I called back a week later, he said he didn't have an answer but would the next day and call me. No call. MIT Computers is by far the most competent computer company in the Tampa area. All of the technicians are highly trained and respectful. Better prices and quality than Geek squad and Staples. More reputable than the Mom and Pops pop up computer shop. I have been a customer for 5 years, they have fixed my Mac, IPhone, Desktop, and I even have a custom build I will be picking up later this week. read more

Brought in a MacBook Pro to be diagnosed (2011, notorious for GPU issues). Andrew and Jose diagnosed it as a hard drive issue and immediately sold me on needing a SSD drive to fix the Mac instead of being straight forward and informing me that the computer was beyond their capability of repair. After I received the Mac back, upon start up it went into panic kernel instantly and I brought the Mac back instantly. It took a week for me to follow up myself because no one contacted me regarding the issues. Finally after almost borderline harassing them, they offered to refund me my money for their misdiagnosis. At that point I was understanding and ready to take the MacBook to Apple themselves. I DID NOT KNOW THEY WOULD TAKE BACK THE SSD DRIVE AND HAND ME BACK A MACBOOK PRO WITH NO HARD DRIVE AND NO CLARIFICATION THAT THEY WOULD BE TAKING BACK THEIR HARD DRIVE. AFTER A MISDIAGNOSIS THEY MADE! I checked with Apple and they are not certified to repair any mac products, Be very careful and do your research before working with these people. Jose is a smooth talker and is quick to blame Andrew and Andrew is very good at not giving his name when he answers the phone so you cannot put a name to voice. I went to get my computer diagnosed. I did as they said and got a new hardrive installed from them. The computer then had problems loading my antivirus that I just bought, along with other I called and was talking to Frank at the time, he not only insulted my intelligence, but he has told me over the phone " sorry but I have no time to teach you how to use a computer " I gave this place a one star because of his unprofessional way of handling a customers concern. I paid $230 and I was even honest enough to acknowledge Frank that he accidently gave me $20 over the change he was supposed to give me after i paid for the service, possibly saving him from the trouble of being $20 short....but like I said the only reason this got a one star was because how he handled the situation, it discouraged me from ever going to another mit computers place if this is how a customer that is supposed to trust them to fix the problem is treated. I was a paying customer and was never rude to this man! At least now I know if I'm in customer service I will never treat anyone like how this man did! read more
