If work needs to be done on our car, he lets us know, but if work isn't needed, then he clearly lets us know that as well. On one occasion, our van needed a new transmission. Although he does not do transmission work himself, we discussed the merits of getting a new transmission versus buying a new car. Based on the soundness of our van, we ultimately decided that it was best to replace the transmission. He recommended another shop to us and he didn't even charge us for the diagnostic work that he did on the van. Hearing some growling from the front. Thought it was wheel bearings, nope. Then became concerned that it might be the front diff. Without getting in to too many details. They took my truck in during a busy period for them, inspected it and notified me that my diff was fine but that my tires were cupped in the front and getting very worn in the back. Knew I was going to be in for tires sooner than later, so is what it is, but the best part is they didn't charge me for anything. I was at least expecting an hour for diagnostics. Bang up crew there. They also show a Porsche 911 on their banner and yet they struggled to work on my Ford and complained to me about it being a pain. Then at the end Fred says "did i give you a price already?" he then proceeded to charge me $550 for undercoating (listed at $250 on the website) and $200 for 16 replacement lug nugs - almost $800 to get undercoating and winter tires put on. At the start of this he said "he will see what he can do on the pricing and not mark it up" and every price on my invoice was marked up. Pure scum.
