I am ** years old and I can't believe I've never been here! This place is such a vibe! On the first warm day of Spring, my girlfriends and I came for a night cap and enjoyed patio seating. It is seriously so "big city" to me, and in the best way possible it's definitely a watering hole with all the good feels. The inside was empty, because, like I said it was really warm. Very cool old school dive on the most popular street downtown. That leads to some very loud exhaust noises from cars, but aside from that, a decent spot. Such a fun drink spot in the old market. Unique seating inside that's very moody and old fashioned. The seating outside is beautiful and great for people watching. Can be hard to find a seat when it's busy so be careful! The servers are nice and will usually come around to get you a drink. I've always loved their sangria. I was looking for a place to sit and drink while I waited for my S.O. and friend to return from shopping. Mister Toad is a hole in the wall bar that had an inviting patio under a large shading tree. It was good enough for me. There is a wide selection of can beers, local, domestic and imported. I requested for a ginger beer I was sure they would have. They did but it was non-alcoholic. I took it anyway. Not to sweet but heavy. The server was pleasant and the people were nice who sat around talking of their upcoming events. Yes, was ease dropping. It was nice to hear the pleasantries while I babied my adult drink. It had a good ambiance and vibe. Have wanted to 'hop in' to Mr Toads for awhile now to experience the old English library style pub. I was not disappointed. The bartender service was quick and welcoming. Relaxing in the inside library seating area with built-in wooden chairs along the back wall was very enjoyable. The clientele were happy and chatty. This is my favorite dive bar in the Old Market. I love the vibe of the old English library pub, and the patio is just gorgeous with the beautiful trees and string lights. We stopped in last night before dinner, and I ordered an espresso martini. When it came out it was dark, so I was nervous - if you know, you know. Often good musicians once played here. Very little room. Mostly drinking alcohol. Very little food options.

Why is this establishment not wheelchair accessible? Isn't that a requirement? Love the ambience and used to come there quite a bit years ago but have since lost my leg and although I have a prosthesis struggled mightily to get over the ledge to get into the establishment. Also, when we were there last night nobody ever came to our table to even take our order. Sad to see what I consider an iconic Old Market pub not modernize their establishment so all can enjoy it. read more

The absolute worst experience I have EVER had at a bar. To begin, our server made all of us feel uncomfortable with a rude tone and asked "What do you want?" when she first came over. (After not coming over to us for a long time). As if we were a burden to her. We all were appalled by the horrible service we received. She never asked if we wanted to keep our tabs open or not and she brought us our checks without us asking for them. It made us feel very unwelcome. We went inside to close a tab, and when we were leaving she held the door open for us. She said something snarky about how we should've tipped yet was the worst service I've ever had. I then said I expect good service. She said something about how we should come back. I said I won't. She then followed us around the corner to JD Tucker's to harass us on if we've ever been in the service industry and to try to make us feel bad for not tipping her. She also asked me how old I am and when I answered she immediately grimaced and walked away. The whole time she had followed us she could have been doing her job and serving her other guests. Visited Mister Toad this past weekend with a friend while looking for a quick drink in Old Market. Mister Toad feels like a divey local spot with an old English pub theme. The decor is cool and definitely unique compared to other nearby places. I've never been and usually order from the specialty drinks menu, and theirs had a few shots listed among a few drinks, which wasn't what I was looking for that day. I ended up ordering the margarita from the menu as an easy go-to. The margarita was okay, and the service was good because we got our drinks pretty quickly after ordering. The drinks weren't too expensive, each drink was $8. There weren't too many others there being a Sunday afternoon, but the music was still a bit loud. I've walked past before and have seen people on the patio, which always looks like a good time and a great way to spend a nice night outside. The patio wasn't opened when I visited, but I hope to go back one day when it is. read more

We came here on Sunday night. This place is beautiful. There are stained glass windows and pews against the back wall. Looks like the bar was created out of a beautiful church. Inside, it's a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. It's more on the dim lit side with lights on the tables. We walked in and it was relatively quiet and then a jazz band started playing! It was a very fun show and the crowd was interactive. I know nothing about jazz, but I wish I did after chilling here for a bit! Drinks were affordable and the server was very kind. We snagged a Strongbow and an Old Fashioned. We had a fun conversation and then enjoyed the jazz when the band started playing (it was pretty hard to try and enjoy both at the same time). It was a very fun and beautiful place to lose some time and I'll definitely check it out again in the future. read more

The bartender was the biggest jerk I've ever "talked to" in my life. He barely acknowledged my existence upon arrival, and continued to be a jerk throughout the time I was there. He was slow to make drinks, unkind to our entire group, and even yelled at one of my friends. If I DO ever go back, I hope to never see that bald old man ever again. By far my favorite bar in the old market. What a great place. My favorite part is they don't even have to try! From the classic wood and pictures you get a feel like your stepping into Omaha history. On a sunny cool afternoon their outside seating is perfect beginning or end to your galvanizing around the old market. I'm a old fashioned fan and theirs has always been on point during my many visits. Service is always super friendly and you can tell it's a destination spot for locals because they know many of the patrons by name. Omaha's English pub. There's a lot to love about Mister Toad. The Old Market location can't be beat. The interior is homy with dark wood panels contrasting with white walls and stained glass. Heck, half the space is a library. Every Sunday night, it's also home to some of the best live jazz you'll find in Omaha. I wonder why I don't come here more often. I have to knock off one star due to drink selection. You have Guinness, piss-water domestics and a couple locals on tap and that's about it. No Scotch ales on tap or in bottles. No English ales on tap (there are a few in bottles, however). The whisk(e)y selection is adequate, but plenty of other spots in town outshine it. Pretty sure their wine is either Barefoot, Sutter Home or some equivalent bottom-of-the-barrel option. All that said, Mister Toad offers an atmosphere like no other in Omaha. If you need a cozy corner pub to spend a few hours at, a visit to Mister Toad is a fantastic choice. read more

Our bartender seemed to go out of her way to be rude to our table. We understood it was a busy night but the rude service was unlike anything I've ever seen. The waitress closed out our tab after one round even though we were planning to order more. She came back later and we expressed that we wanted more drinks but she closed out the tab to which she responded, "oh... okay whatever bye" like a teenage girl with an attitude. Appalled by the service, we elected to not tip. On our way out, the waitress yelled "thanks for stiffing me!", and we carried on and walked to a bar around the block. The very same waitress followed our small group to the bar (amidst a busy post event rush) to harass us about our lack of tip, where we calmly explained we were unhappy with the rude service. Mister Toad is has a unique vibe for sure. It's a pub that looks like an old dark library. I like that cool dungeon feel. If you don't, there is a patio! The ladies room could use a facelift. Our server this evening was incredibly rude. From the moment we sat down her body language was unwelcoming, leaning up against the wall and crossing her arms. My boyfriend asked about a drink and she immediately said "I'll give you a few minutes" and walked away. When she came back I asked for a drink recommendation, and with reluctance we placed our order after some more negative energy. We ended up going up to the bar and asking her to give my card back so we could leave promptly. Unfortunately, will not be returning or recommending this establishment. read more
