It was clean, had a classic Irish pub feel, and was more spacious than I expected. I had a couple of Guinness while enjoying the band, and they put on a great show. What a HIDDEN GEM in downtown Omaha. Our first time to the area so we thought that the bar was on the main level on Harney Street. Showed up to the location and were greeted by a very friendly guy who greeted us with the question "do you guys medicate?" Hmm...an Irish bar that also medicates...a full self-service bar lol. We quickly realized that we were talking to a representative from the Wellness Boutique and that the Dubliner Pub was actually downstairs. Walked down the stairs not knowing what to expect, opened the door and we were greeted by a very friendly bouncer. The bar atmosphere immediately gave genuine Irish bar vibes with low ceilings and lots of green lighting. The biggest win of the night was that they actually had Guinness on tap! There is plenty of space since the bar has two separate areas, the main area and a secondary area for live music. Had great conversation with a local guy named Chase. Fantastic experience overall. PROS - Great atmosphere. My wife and I stopped here for a couple drinks and stayed for a little more than an hour. We enjoyed the irish music, it had a cozy atmosphere too. The service was good and even though it was a bar, it wasn't too "loud" (Despite still being a bar lol). I've actually been here several times but have never written about it until now. Hubby and I didn't have much money for an 'actual' honeymoon so we decided to spend a long weekend in Omaha. (From about an hour and a half north of here.) We told the bartender (this was July 2014) it was our 'honeymoon' and he gave us two shots on the house of ACTUAL Irish whiskey he said came straight from Ireland. Might have been the best whiskey I've ever had. If we're ever staying in Omaha we try to stop. Awesome vibe here and usually has live music. read more

Live music on Saturdays makes this a great place to spend your night! Woodhoops was the band playing last night and they created such a fun environment. I love that the Dub always has a cider on tap since I'm not a beer person. The cider currently on tap is Schilling's London Dry, very delicious! The bartenders/waiters are also always amazing. There are so many tables to sit at so you don't even have to get up to go to the bar and order another drink if you don't want to, there are a few waitresses that are walking around picking up empty glasses and taking orders. The Dubliner has always been our "go to" after a dinner downtown. My husband and I were sad to learn last weekend that Zach was no longer working there. The ambiance was just off for us. If you're looking for some fun with a diverse crowd and good drink and music (only on Thursday) this is where you wanna go. Typically hope in the "ground" bar and i love it. Good Irish beer and atmosphere. Whenever i come to Omaha i always go out of my way to steer my group for a couple drinks here. Thursday's and Friday's are awesome with it being college night and then opening the back half of the venue. This is the best part is when they play music. So this place is hard to find, you have to walk down the stairs below hyve. The ambience is okay, I was not clear whether it's a sports bar or a dive bar. The place is huge with ample sitting. This is a typical bar where they only serve drinks. There is no food. I didn't like the cover fee of $5. The place is really not worth giving the cover charge. They don't have any signature drinks as per say. There is live performance, for that only I am giving the 3 star rating. Otherwise this place is below average. It is too loud, so if you want to relax and talk with your friends, this is not the place to go. They don't have a proper dance floor but some people were dancing in a little place theY can find. The chairs were old with cushions coming out of them. The live music was not of some genre so I can't suggest this place for music fans as well. read more

My wife and I stopped by the Dubliner while on a trip to Omaha. I have been to the Dubliner one other time and the second time was just as fun as the first. The Dubliner is located in the downtown area of Omaha and in the basement of another building. The Dubliner staff is awesome. This was on a Friday night and there wasn't a huge crowd at about 6pm but there was a second room where they had a band the first visit and it was reserved for a large party. This seems to be a local dive hangout and was a fun time. The staff, again was awesome and the beer was very reasonably priced. read more

It was a sunny Friday afternoon and as I descended into the underbelly of the Old Market, I was greeted by a few locals getting lit at 2pm. I have mixed feelings about this place. For me, the Dubliner is nice when it's happy-hour or early-evening, but when it gets busy or a band is playing, I can't get out of there quick enough for no other reason than it's a basement and I get a little claustrophobic with the crowd and the noise. This past Friday was actually my first time of actually 'hanging out' there for an extended period of time and it was enjoyable, though suspiciously warm for some reason. I'm thinking old building... steam boiler... as a result, kind of old and stinky but it's a BASEMENT, so who are we kidding? I'm also guessing the bathrooms were nothing too enjoyable, though I didn't have the pleasure. read more

One of my favorite bars in Omaha. Best time to come here is on a weekday after 4:30pm. You'll run into regulars, people who just need an after work beer, and the occasional out of town-er; I've always had a great time and have met some great people there! Thursday nights they have a one man cover band/guitarist. Only downside, during the school year you'll run into a crowd mainly consisting of entitled college students so come earlier and secure a table. I don't recommend coming in for a fancy cocktail--if that's what you're looking for Berry&Rye would be a better option--but if beer is what you're looking for, Dubliner has a great selection of brews. If you live in the area, ask about their hanging mugs on the ceiling. They have a checklist of all their beers and once you finish it, you are rewarded with a customized mug. Great dive bar. Located in a basement and not ever updated decor. Very nice beer and whiskey selection. Live music on Saturday night with a $5 cover. This place has really stood the test of time. I have come in periodically over the past 15 years and it still holds a lot of charm and appeal. Additionally, it has been well maintained. After so many years in business you would expect the place to show its age and it doesn't. Nifty downstairs location, smelly, dank and simply average "drinks" experience. We had wanted to try The Dubliner for quite some time because we LOVE Harp on tap. Being this is an Irish bar, I checked and was pleased to learn they served it on tap. So, the wife and I loaded up and traveled the 5 minutes to the Old Market to try on The Dubliner. Just prior to entering we noticed the lingering odor of spilled beers and whatever other liquids were also "spilled" in that specific location. Not so cool. Upon entering we noticed the bar was almost empty (To be expected for a late Friday afternoon), sat and were promptly served by a bartender (Nothing special here). The Harp was averagely priced and just slipping into the low end of cold, but was adequate (Once again, nothing special). The place was dark (Which I like) but was SO empty and smelled JUUUUUST funky enough to compel us to down our beers and exit without fanfare. All in all, I'll say that while this bar may be enjoyable and fun for college aged kids who don't mind the odoriferous nature of this dive, for a middle aged couple looking for a quiet Irish bar to have a cold Harp in a pleasant atmoshphere, you should probably move on to the next place. read more

Being a midget of Irish decent, I have always enjoyed a place where you can get a beer and listen to and after about 10 stouts, sing along with, real live Irish music. A couple of visits to the Dubliner, and you will learn several interesting facts. For one thing, there are a lot of decent local bands that specialize in Irish music, and they cover a wide range of musical styles. Celtic punk, celtic death metal, celtic drum and bass, celtic country, celtic boy bands, the list could go on longer than anyone of you would care to read. There is a cover charge, which is $5, usually after 9 pm. Given the quality of the bands and the fact that you can get a pint for $3, it's a small price to pay. read more

Here's how it went down: Drunk frat boy #1 deliberately pushes drunk frat boy #2 into our friend causing her to almost fall. DFB#1 walks away feeling proud that he did a great job as a wingman as DFB#2 starts hitting on our friend. We don't like it when our friends get pushed into.... so we demanded DFB#2 to back off.... not so nicely. If I had a drink, then that drink would have been flying toward his face (I don't have a drink because the lines were too long for the single bartender). The reason why this can even occur at the Dubliner -- is because they need more help. One man served as the bartender, cashier, waiter, buser, and bouncer to a packed bar full of frat boys home for Christmas. read more

This place smells like rotten crotch. Stuck deep down in the bowels of Omaha's downtown, this place hasn't had an airing since Sputnik. The bathroom smelled like barf and feces (and not in the good way). On the plus side, it is in downtown Omaha and it has Irish music. My favorite bar in Omaha. Thursday night live music is good even though the guy plays the same songs every week. Whoever decorated the walls inside the bar did their best to honor Ireland. Yes it can be loud and you might want to avoid Thursday nights if you're not a college student.
