As a legitimately native Dubliner I was excited to go to a pub that claims to be similar to a pub from my hometown. I donned my Áth Cliath shirt and drank some Proper 12 whiskey before going out with friends. Unfortunately I found a tacky, appropriating establishment that beared no semblance of an Irish pub. I don't know why they think they have the authority to call themselves The Dubliner but they don't. I used to never miss a Thursday night at the Dubliner... and then I turned 22. Fondly known to locals as the Dub, it sports great drinks specials, and on Thursdays Chris Shelton plays great acoustic music. He's hilarious, but takes too many smoke breaks, now. When I was younger (like 19) this place had the perfect crowd. Mostly upperclassmen and grad students, your occasional underage-er with a decent fake, and a few older people out for a good birthday time. Not so anymore. On Thursday nights this place is packed with barely any walking room. I have come to kind of dread it. I love Chris Shelton and the bartenders, though, so I continue to go every once in a while. Overall, cool Irish Pub vibe, great music, good drinks, nice bartenders, but avoid Thursday nights if you don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of wasted college sophomores. read more

Affectionately referred to by Creighton Students as "The Dub", I have been coming here for a couple years on Thursday for $5 Pitcher Night. They have the "Guitar Man" who plays the same songs every week, but most of the time people have had a few to many to care. On Thursday the place has a nice mix of College kids and more "experienced" customers, but by the end of the night it's mainly college kids. On weekends though it is a total 180. While on the weekends my group of friends tends to be the youngest, it's still a lot of fun. The prices are a little steeper for drinks, but the bands have always been really good. At a place like this the crowd shouldn't really matter, this is a place to go to sit with your friends and knock a couple back. That being said, if you go bring a group or you will feel a little out of place. My only real complaint is the older bartender (owner?) can be gruff bordering on rude, but I'm guessing that's just some Irish charm I don't understand. Who knows? Bottom line, if you and your buddies want to sit down, drink beer, and listen to some live music, the Dub is a great place to go. read more

Great Place! Located right in Old market area, adjacent to the large parking garage, means I pay the couple bucks and never worry about finding a parking spot. Look for the sign an the stairs. Great atmosphere, the guy checking IDs at the door is really friendly and helpful. I've been a couple times, some to drink, some as a DD. Either way I have fun. It's a younger crowd mostly, lively good vibe. The service is decent for a place that's usually pretty crowded, and the bartenders seem to have a generally friendly/ fun attitude. So seating can be limited depending on the night and the time, but I've never had a problem. They often have a live band performing great music. Either foot stomping lively Irish rock/ drinking music or alt. contemp jams. Adds to the atmosphere and makes me want to buy a round of Irish car bombs. read more

A check-the-box Irish joint in downtown Omaha. We went to the Dubliner on St Patrick's Day. Since it was a busy night they had a small cover and cash only bar. If you go on St Paddies get there early as the line gets super long outside. We were lucky in getting there before that. Average age was early-mid 20's. If you're older you might consider checking out one of the many less crowded bars along the street. Only thing disappointing was the live music - they seemed to barely play. I'd be interested to go again and check out another band though- I could imagine with good music and a slightly thinner crowd this place could be pretty fun. Cheap beer. Jameson. Potentially good live music. If that's what you're in the mood for, hit up the Dubliner. read more

Bartender completely ignored me, served 15 others who were there after me before my friend got her attention.

I, and my crew, were highly insulted by the bartender at this pub. We are all in the Navy. We were sitting at the bar having a fairly good time, when some nicely dressed people walked in. My friend asked the bartender for a drink and he replied with "Not right now, I have real customers, real people here" to my friend. Seriously? I guess giving up everyday of our lives for this country makes us not good enough somehow. So, I guess I'd recommend this to someone who considers themselves a "real person"? read more

The Dubliner is probably the best Irish Pub in town. Like Benjamin states, it doesn't try to be like the cookie cutter Irish pubs that you find out west. It's a terrific place to go to for music and a few drinks. They have a pretty decent selection of beer on tap. As a bonus, I was here on Friday night and didn't get charged a cover. read more

This is a good place to hide out for a few pints during the day (and you do feel like you're hiding out cos it's underground), excellent selection of English Ales. I popped in late one night when I was staying downtown and the place was a jumping maniacal Irish party. Not a bad place by any means. There is even a mug hanging from the ceiling behind the bar that has the ashes of a previous regular. Atmosphere is fun when busy. Only draw is service can suck. Loved this place! My girlfriend and I went on a random Tuesday Night and we had a blast. We are from Milwaukee and were welcome with open arms. The patrons were fun and the bartender, Ian was fantastic. True Irishman with a lot of great jokes. Prices were fair and no cover. Good crac here in Omaha. read more

The underground Irish fan's underground haven. The no-frills (and sadly no-kitchen) Dub has everything you and your liquid diet need: crazy roudy people, lots of Irish (and other) beers and whiskeys, excellent background music, and the drinkmeister of ceremonies Ian who leads the festivities like a walking Book of Dirty Jokes meets the Mad Hatter. Loved the hell out of this place, will for sure be back. read more

If you want a guaranteed good time (and clubbing isn't your thing) then the Dubliner is the place to go. This is my favorite bar in Omaha because I have never had a lame night here - probably due to the incredible live music and consistently good staff. It gets really crowded and has a very diverse crowd (agewise) which makes it even more fun. There can be a wait at the bar when it gets really crowded but the waitresses usually keep up with the tables pretty well. This place isn't fancy (the fact that it is underground should have been your first hint), nor is it cheap, but you are almost guaranteed to have fun here, which makes it worth it. read more

The hubs and I popped in here while on a mini-vacation in Omaha for a late Friday afternoon pint. Loved that this bar was below street level - a bar with no windows is our kind of bar. It's a little dungeon-y and divey.... it had a bit of an odor. The bar looks small when you first enter, but it opens into a second room where the band plays with additional seating. They were charging a $3 cover for an Irish band that was starting later that night. We didn't love the band, but that's because the hubs is from Ireland and I doubt any Irish music that is played outside of his country will ever be acceptable to him. They weren't bad. OK, on to the important part. The Guinness. (See my Guinness list for more info on this.) I'd give the Guinness here a 6 or 7 out of 10. The best rating I've given thus far for an American pint, kind of a big deal. It was properly poured and at the right temperature. It had the right amount of head, although it didn't quite pass the finger test. Let's preface this by acknowledging that I am aware this is gross and fingers are full of germs - BUT - if you dip your finger in the foam and taste it, it shouldn't be bitter or sour. It was a little on the bitter side. Aside from that, the pint was creamy, rich and delicious. When held up to the light (I know, I'm weird) the beer had a touch of ruby in it, which for some reason most Guinness in America doesn't have.They serve their Guinness in 16 oz pints, not 20 oz pints. The bartenders were pretty prompt and while they weren't overly chatty with us, they were pretty friendly, no complaints. read more

The Dubliner has always been a favorite for my friends and I. However the last two times we have gone is has completely ruined our night. The first bad visit went south when we ordered 3 long islands and got something that tasted absolutely terrible. Normally, we would go with beer, but it was a special celebration night so we felt like venturing out, our mistake. The second visit that went south was actually on St. Patrick's Day weekend. We were with a larger group this time and ordered several drinks. While passing them out, one got spilled by a guy who was quite drunk knocking into me and spilling the full drink on the ground. I returned to the bar in hopes that they had seen the incident not 2 seconds from their bar and was told I could go to the bathroom and fill it with toilet water. I should have left right then, but I decided to wait for the bartender to come back around to me. When he did, I explained what happened and he said I would have to pay for another drink anyway. Whatever fine, I understand alcohol is expensive it would have been nice to actually not have to pay twice for the same drink but it wasn't his fault the first one got spilled. Well the guy standing next to me in the bar felt like it was unjust and said as much. So the bartender decided that guy had to leave and since I was "with him" I could also leave and he tossed the drink in our direction as well as the money I had just given him to pay for it. Now with it being St Patty's day the bartender had probably had a long night of dealing with all kinds of people. However that does not excuse the way I was treated for merely standing next to the wrong person in a bar. Bottom line on this, the atmosphere is great at the Dub, but the service often leaves something to be desired. I will probably return but not anytime soon. read more

I really like this place. It doesn't feel like the cookie cutter Irish pubs that are all over, and I like their selection of alcohol. Very casual. There's popcorn. Just make sure to sit away from the band so you can hear over the music! read more

Best time I've had in Omaha in years - my brother and I and a group of friends hit this place up after a day at the College World Series and the Tom Petty concert. Met the owner, Frank, who was just as pleasant as they come - what a guy! I wish I could find an email address for this place, I would send a picture of us wearing our new hats! This place is just perfect - we are all in our early thirties and this place wasn't trying to BE anything - not too swank, not too clubby, not too uppity - but a REALLY good time! I cant say enough good things about the Dubliner, we will DEFINITELY make a return appearance! So glad we found you! read more

I think the Dubliner Pub is a really cool Irish pub. It has its own special feel- like an old glove that has been around but still works like a champ. As an airline pilot I have been to bars all over the world, and this one ranks up there. I just wrote a book about adopting my dog but had to add a layover story and the Dubliner Pub is in Chapter 22. The title of the book is My Wingman Oliver, and it is on Amazon. read more

Dubliner is a typical Irish pub with a great location, and offers pretty good live music. It is underground, and tends to be very dark inside. The cover does suck, but you pay for the good music. Every time I have been their this summer there has been herd of brides maid parties with buses parked outside, THIS IS A GOOD THING. Let your mind wonder with that. Overall this is one of the better bars in Omaha to finish the night off. And the smoking ban has helped alot, cause this place would sometimes feel like a chimney inside. read more

A lot of people will complain that this bar packs too many people in and the ceiling is so low that it already feels cramped, but you can go into the other room and almost always get a good seat and listen to cool music. I you're visiting Omaha and like Irish pubs, this is a must-stop and definitely won't be stale and old like some other bars that carry it. read more

WORST SERVICE. We sat at a booth in the back tonight and the server complained to us how drunk she was and tried to tell us it was last call at 1am, then said "oh fuck what time is it? Nevermind." Then stumbled away. I gave her a $20 for a $5 drink and then never saw her again, the bartenders said I had no proof of payment so I got ripped off $15. Super disappointing since I am usually a huge fan of the dub. read more
