This company took advantage of my elderly in-laws and charged them $9k to replace their breaker box. They charged $1,109 TWICE for a "whole home surge protector" and then charged for a "secondary cover" for $748. This house is less than 1,400sq ft and single story. $743 for the inspection, $702 for 3 GFCI plugs (god knows where bc I can't find them and he never went inside the house), $384 for some bubble cover, no idea. $1800 for breaker repair, $2400 for arc breaker repair. Now something isn't working in their kitchen and they tried to say it would be $20k to fix, then $7,500. The guy left before I showed up because I'm sure he knew he would be called out for his deceptive practices. I am now getting a second opinion on their work and will be seeking at least a partial refund based on the actual cost it should be based on our area. Do not use this company. Damn some of these reviews are so bad but I did not have this experience! Also.... ALWAYS price shop and get at least three quotes before paying anyone! QUOTES ARE FREE and you can negotiate with ALL contracted jobs at your home. We had our breaker box explode and needed a full replacement fast, so we called Sparky along with getting three other quotes. Their salesman Jerry came out to assess the situation and was very informative, direct, and respectful of our time, which we really appreciated during a stressful situation. He explained everything clearly without wasting time. We chose Sparky, and they had two electricians out the very next day to replace the breaker box. Both were professional, efficient, and did excellent work. The entire process was smooth from start to finish. They also handled pulling permits with SRP seamlessly, which took a lot of stress off our shoulders. What really impressed us was that Jerry the sales man followed up the next day to make sure everything was working properly and even stopped by the house to check on something for us. That level of service and follow through definitely goes the extra mile. I cannot speak for every employee at the company, but based on our experience with the three team members we worked with, we were very impressed. Requested a proposal for some electrical work and was totally shocked at quote(s). Price initially quoted was just over $1,900. When I questioned how he got to that price without measuring area or explanation, he said it was based on the job and said he could reduce it to $1,100. Again without explanation on how he got to that price. I declined and again was what price would get the job. At that point I felt I was being scammed and stopped the conversation. Got the job done by another licensed electrician for $600 which was more in line based on past experiences. Had a so called electrician show up. Thouth this person (Jerry Routon) was give me an esimate to fix my problem. Undid the switches in my bathroom - gave me an esitamete then said that he would have to call in to have someone else come out. I did not realize that he was actualy nothing more than a salesman. Storm knocked down tree, took out power line. Called Mr. Sparky at 3 a.m. Appreciate that they answered the call. It ends there. They showed up, gave me an estimate, then switched to another service technician. That guy didn't know how to replace an exterior cap, and just stuck a wire on the house. 15 minutes. Charged $1000. SRP had to approve it and they laughed. SRP said it should have been half the price. After five days without electricity and a constant fight to get it fixed, they finally did it. Terrible service. I highly recommend Mr. Sparky of Phoenix and would certainly call them in the future, if I need service. My home is 49 years old, so I agreed for safety reasons, it was due for an update. They came out the first day to inspect and write up the estimate. I have used Mister Sparky on a couple occasions. The first we needed an indoor outlet added. The scheduling was easy and the technician was on time and professional. They added the outlet then left a list of suggestions for additional work totaling around $5k. I held off to get a second opinion. I called again for a faulty outside outlet twice. They made 3 trips and it was misdiagnosed 3 times. I paid the charges but held off on the $1,500 estimate to repair a light timer. I had another person come by and they identified the areas that were not accurately diagnosed. Furthermore the $1,500 repair was not needed as the timer was not bad. One fix (from first trip) was suggested to add a surge protector for $1,500. The follow up companies estimate was $500. Technicians were timely and professional. My experience is to use them for straightforward jobs but to consider others too before a 'trouble shooting' job. I also highly recommend getting a second bid for for larger jobs and on their up sell recommendations. I reached out to Mister Sparky to get their feedback with no response. 2//16/23 update. Beware of the HUSTLE. My wife called to have a ceiling fan installed. The tech Ean showed up and told me he needed to inspect the wiring. He went outside and took the breaker box apart. (?) I asked him to come in and replace the fan. He showed me pictures of the breaker box and wanted to sell me a$2000 breaker box refresh. PLEASE READ AND DON'T FALL VICTIM ! If this saves one person from being a victim of a high pressure, fear tactic sales pitch like my niece fell victim to then this will be worth it. My 23 yr old niece needed 2 smoke detectors replaced and also wanted them to check out a ceiling fan. Mister Sparky shows up and sells her on a total house inspection which she agreed to. My niece recently lost her mom that lived in this unit with her and she has been doing her best to "adult" and take care of things even though she is physically and emotionally not well after suffering the loss of her mom and her brother. Alex from Mister Sparky proceeds to tell her that in essence the entire home is very dangerous and tells her how important from a safety aspect that this work needs to be done for 9400.00 . Yes you read that right 9400.00 dollars! Oh and conveniently an entire electrician crew is on hand and will make the home "safe" right then and there. And the best part? Just sign this estimate agreement and we can also immediately get you a loan with our lender at 11 percent interest. No time for second opinion or even a chance to sleep on it...just sign under pressure and we'll get it done now! My niece says she was in state of shock and was scared that home was a hazard so she signed and only after realized that she had been taken advantage of. For over a week the stress of what Mister Sparky did ate at her until she called my husband and I absolutely hysterical. Why ? Because WE are the owners of the unit and my niece is our tenant. Mister Sparky insists they asked her if she was the owner but yet they have not been able to produce that conversation. We did NOT give consent to this work however being reasonable people I reached out to Mister Sparky to discuss this situation and come to an agreement that we both could live with. My niece does NOT have the money nor resources for this loan and I was very concerned about her mental state ..this loan on top of her grieving process was just too much for her to handle. My husband and I offered to bring 6200.00 TWO THIRDS OF THE AMOUNT IN CASH to Mister Sparky in order to settle the debt and bring peace to my niece. Mister Sparky rejected any and all offers saying they did "everything correctly" by having her sign the estimate. CORRECTLY possibly....JUSTLY AND RIGHTLY not a chance. They pride themselves on "same day service" but they also use that to their advantage to prey on unsuspecting victims. Same Day service for my niece would've been install two smoke detectors, fix a ceiling fan issue and then give her a detailed estimate of other recommended work. Same Day service should NOT include high pressure scare tactics! Where are we now? Well we had no choice other than to tell my niece to default on this loan. Are we happy about it? Heck no...we have never defaulted or refused to pay a loan in our entire lives but this company accepts absolutely no responsibility or even at the very least a desire to negotiate. So my niece defaults and Mister Sparky gets nothing now and we still hold on to our 6200.00 that we were more than willing to pay. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ELECTRICAL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was recommended by ToFixIt.com to use this company for electrical work. I am a first time homeowner and know absolutely nothing about anything electrical as I am a single woman. I called Mr. Sparky to come out to my home to look at my dryer as the week prior I smelled a burning plastic in my home while running my dryer. I immediately turned off the dryer and went downstairs and turned off the dryer at the breaker box and then proceeded to unplug the cord from the wall on the dryer. When I unplugged the cord I saw that one of the prongs was blackened and fried....VERY ALARMING to say the least. When Mr. Sparky arrived for my appointment the gentlemen went upstairs looked at my problem and immediately told me the problem was that the dryer outlet was fried (melted) and the appliance cord hook up to the dryer needed to be replaced. I thought okay what is the cost. The technician pulled out a sheet with standard pricing which showed each item would be a charge of $187 EACH ITEM!!!!!!!!! I looked at him and asked are you KIDDING ME?????? He replied no however if you buy one of our plans I can save you $19 for a total of $168. I looked at him and asked the tech are you no honestly telling me your going to charge me $400 to replace both of these items for which he told me yes. I asked him honestly can I go somewhere else and get a fair price and he said I can probably get it cheaper however you never know what type of electrician your getting so you should be concerned on the type of work they do. Needless to say I was scared that I could have a fire in my house and I let him do the work as I know absolutely nothing about electrical. BIG MISTAKE.....BIG MISTAKE!!!!! The next day I googled the parts on Home Depot and Lowes website and to my SHOCKING SURPRISE the Dryer Outlet was $7.49 and the appliance cord hook up was anywhere from $17 to $42??????????? ALL I CAN SAY IS ARE YOU KIDDING ME???????????????????????????????????????????????? I was charged a total of $409.13 incl tax for a job that the company probably paid a total of maybe $50 in parts (and I say maybe). THIS IS THE BIGGEST RIP OFF SCAM I HAVE EVER BEEN APARTOFAND I WILL NEVER, NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE I KNOW OR WORK WITH. I FEEL AS IF I HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF WHICH IS A JOKE. I called Mr. Sparky out for a breaker that kept tripping and they came out on a SUNDAY! I thought he would just need to replace the breaker and be on his way. When the technician arrived, he was very pleasant and very professional. As he diagnosed the problem we went above and beyond what he needed to and found a bigger looming problem in my attic. He gladly jumped into my attic and took care of the problem without hesitation. I could not believe that someone would take the time to crawl through my attic on Sunday afternoon, I was impressed. I did a little research on this company and they have a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. I found an online available appointment with this firm and set it up for work to be done at my home. I was expecting them today and just got a call saying all appointments were booked and they had no availability until next week. Unacceptable! That's what websites are for. If they cannot keep their website appointments straight their excuses don't mean anything to me. Having an appointment in place prevented me from contacting another contractor to get my work done . Four stars is for the professional manner in which our complaint was handled by Daniel, the manager. Our initial experience with Mr Sparky wasn't that productive. We were not 100% satisfied with the service we received, but paid the technician the "flat" fee that he charged us, even though they didn't complete the work requested. It was the end of a business day so, we figured we would just speak with the manager the next business day. (The following Monday.) We left a message with the manager on Friday, late afternoon. The manager, Daniel, called us first thing Monday morning and rectified the situation promptly and professionally. We were very happy with Daniel and how he handled the situation. I will say that if we use Mr. Sparky in the future, that I will feel more comfortable doing so, knowing they will stand behind their word and their guarantee. read more

Jeff came out 20 minutes after we called on a Sunday night, was kind, and explained things to us throughly. He solved the problem in no time. I wish there was a No Star option for the reviews: WARNING: Do not be scammed by this company. They show up with all their fancy laminated pricing cards, trying to get you to join their Mr. Sparky club for $100 in order to get a discount for the services they have yet to perform. For us they wanted $196 just to look at the 2 light switches that were not working properly. That was in addition to the $79 trip fee. Once I questioned the pricing and he discovered I used to be a contractor he was able to give me the 'You're a nice guy' discount and offered to do them both for the price of 1. Then, he didn't have the switches on his truck! I had to go to Lowe's and get them. Once he announced he was done, I checked and they still didn't work. To my surprise he actually said 'Well, I don't know what the issue is but I am not charging you for some of the other stuff I found and fixed" Seriously? What other stuff? The downstairs switch and the upstairs switch were supposed to work the same lights, and they didn't. He then had to call his boss because he was going to get into trouble for spending too much time on this job. Then, when I refused to pay, he miraculously discovered the problem, but needed a different switch, which again he did not have. So it was back to Lowe's for another switch [both I paid for] and the job was done. When I called the office the next day to speak with the supervisor, he tried to blame it on the technician, stating 'he was a new guy'. Well, for a new guy he certainly had the sales pitch down! I did get a partial refund so that was good. The supervisor then said that he would like another opportunity to make things right, so I asked him to take a look at an outside issue I had.....and never heard from them again, despite 2 calls to his office. Obviously they don't want to do any work for anyone who is onto them. Stay away from these con-artists. read more

I contracted Mr. Sparky to changed and update all outlets in our 30 year old home. I would suggest that you get 3 quotes before hiring any vendor. We had used Mr. Sparky in the past and hired them for this job without getting other bids. We paid about $1500 more than smaller companies for the job. They are a large company similar to Parker and Sons and George Brazil and have a large overhead so know you will be paying HIGH end. The technician are not licensed as that is not required in Arizona. They did not clean up properly, leaving behind debris although they are suppose to clean up. They do not plug everything back in after completion, leaving the land line unplugged and the freezer chest in the garage unplugged. They did promise to reimburse me for spoiled items and I believe they will. They did send a licensed technician out to follow up and he corrected several wiring errors. I should have done my homework. I don't usually post things but hopefully you can learn from my mistakes. read more
