I walked past "Mister Dips" earlier in the day and thought, that looks like a good place for dinner. Boy was I right, located in an alleyway the sign drops down on the side of the building. Something I've never seen before. The restaurant was a bit busy and seating was limited so we had to wait for a seat. It was worth it, trust me. After a little wait, they called my name and my food was ready. I started with the waffle fries. They were delicious. I really enjoyed them. The buffalo chicken however, stole the show. It was crunchy, hot and juicy at the same time. I am glad I grab them! I watched the supervisor walking around whipping down tables. I thought, she definitely takes pride in her business. I felt ignored and put off by the person working the front of the store by him walking past and not speaking and not acknowledging our presence with a simple "we'll be with you shortly". My cousin and I ordered our food and were hammered by how we could tip, and that tips are appreciated, and we could pay for our order with a card but tip in cash. . Really dude??? I've eaten at Mister Dips twice, and despite inflation raising prices, I think the price hike here was still too steep. The Single Dip burger was $6.89 in November 2021, the first time I ate here, and now it costs $9.49, and you just know that these prices are never going back down again. I stopped by for the second time in December 2022 only to try the Black Truffle Dip for $11.99 because I love anything with truffle flavor. This is a limited-time burger available until January 1. I like that there are permanent benches outside of the restaurant. It isn't easy to find outdoor seating in the winter. Some may find it absurd to eat outdoors in December, but I'd rather be a bit cold than catch Covid. The food presentation is nice here and goes with the vibe of the restaurant's interior. Very chic and modern with a bit of retro diner. However, the portion is small for what you pay, and the taste is on the plain side. I didn't taste a lot of truffle flavor in my truffle burger. Under all the arugula, the beef patty is small. Same with the fries. The Dirty Dipped Waffles is Instagram-worthy but not worth $6.99. Under the queso, there are not many fries. The food was great and very filling. The chicken tenders were like a dry rub/ honey sauce and the dirty dip waffles were amazing. The sauce doesn't taste like ranch, it seems like something different but it was tasty. The service was very fast and my food was still hot and fresh. We were downtown for an event, and decided to grab dinner at Mister Dips. The decor is cool, and the service is quick and friendly. The menu is brief, but has some good burger and other options, and obviously ice cream and shakes, although we had an event and couldn't get any. We got a "normal" burger and a spicy one, and both were very good. The patties could use a little seasoning, but they were nice and juicy. The buns and toppings are also very good. The restaurant is nicely decorated with fun decor. When you walk in you place your order at the register and then your name is called when your order is ready. It did not take long for my food to be ready. I ordered a single burger with waffle fries. All of the items are sold separately. The food was good but definitely overpriced for what you get. The burger comes with their specialty sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles and wasn't that big. After my meal I tried one of the dipped ice cream cones. When I placed my order the cashier remembered my name. I ordered the PBD cone with a peanut butter coating and a Reese's cup on the side but I got vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate. Haven't tried my food yet. But the young woman taking my order was delightful. Two cooks working and I've been waiting for about 10'minutes. Place is empty, they just got a rush. I ordered a single classic and county classic. I'm excited to try both. The place hasn't been picked up so there's trash on the tables. The staff is having fun but I'm hungry. The inside is pretty futuristic lots of neon and metal. Idk if I would have a date here. More so like take it to go or with some friends. For both of my items is was almost 25 dollars. Finally!!! I have been wanting to come here since it opened back in July, excited that I no longer had to be in New York to try it. The simplicity of its menu didn't seem to excite other friends who I was hoping would come with me, but I figured I'm starting a new job and today is a good day to celebrate that with a burger and an ice cream cone Located in Parker's Alley in the Shinola complex, it's a fun walking spot to come to if you're already in the area. This is definitely not a place you want to drive down to for its own. This is not a knock against them per se, but for the time and energy it takes to get to the city, find parking and walk over, not sure this was worth the effort. First and foremost the workers were fantastic. They were nice, quick to greet and had no problem making my ice cream after I ate my lunch. Now I don't know how much of my excitement was based on nostalgia of roaming around (no sleep til) Brooklyn, but I have to say this was not up to my expectations. I ordered the single Dip and this month's ice cream special, the lickety split. First the sandwich. This is a single, flat grilled patty with melted cheese, lettuce, pickle, mustard, ketchup and a special sauce. I'm not 100% sure that they put the sauce on the burger, but my bigger issue is for $9 this is a very small burger. The bun is large but the meat is meager. It should be half the price, if not more. But ok, at least the cone might make up for it. Well first let's just say my fat body really doesn't need a big ol ice cream cone, but if I'm paying for $6 for a cone it best be a big ol' cone. The Lickety Split is this month's special, banana-strawberry twist ice cream, dipped in chocolate, drizzled with caramel, sprinkled with nuts and topped with a cherry. It was absolutely delicious. But as with the sandwich, it left me wanting more. We are blessed to have some spectacular ice cream joints (Wally's, Erma's, Leason's, etc) that give you much better bang for the buck. Some friends and I were going to a show at the Fox tonight and wanted to do either Penny Red's or Mister Dips for dinner. We didn't know that Penny Red's is takeout-only, so Mister Dips it was ... I had been seeing it all over Instagram and had been wanting to try it. Overall, where Mister Dips excels is its ice cream, though I suppose that shouldn't surprise me, given its name! I ordered a regular burger, no lettuce, and regular waffle fries. The burger was fine, maybe 3/5 from me, and the waffle fries were tasty, maybe 4/5. My friends ordered the sweet & spicy chicken tenders - I tried one and it was pretty good, so I'd maybe try that next time - burgers, waffle fries, and onion rings. The onion rings were also good. 3 of the 4 of us got ice cream after - one friend and I got the chocolate + PB cone, and another got the raspberry milkshake. They actually give you like a "cone guard" for the cones, which I had never seen before, and you will shortly see why ... they drip very fast, haha! Their dipped cones are similar to the ones at Dairy Queen, but definitely more high-end ... the chocolate + PB one had an entire Reese's piece stuffed into the side. I definitely got my cone ALL over the table, but it was delicious. I would definitely stop by here again for a cone or a milkshake - they also have boozy milkshakes! - but I might go somewhere else for dinner first. This place is super cute. I got the ice cream of the month in October. The "Trixy treat" it came with a little plastic spider and was just the cutest thing. The taste was great. The service was great. There is plenty of seating and they have a wide selection of food as well as desserts. I didn't eat the food there yet but I can def recommend the ice cream. As I was looking for lunch on a Friday afternoon before attending a wedding in Detroit, I hopped on Yelp and found Mister Dips, located in a cute alley right behind the Shinola hotel. Phew! So it's basically a fun hipster diner vibe with yummy photogenic foods. On my first visit, I ordered the hot bae chixy dips, which is three large chicken tenders covered in chili-honey and chesapeake spiced oil. It doesn't come with any additional sauce like ranch, but I didn't think it needed any. The tenders were piping hot and super crispy. I liked the sweet and spicy flavor. Beware it was quite a bit of dripping oil so I needed a lot of napkins! I loved the place so much, I knew I had to bring Nate the next day. He ordered the single dip burger and I got the other flavor of the chixy dips, the county classic, which is a classic buffalo. Both were excellent! I'm glad I got to try the burger, because it was a great, tasty smash burger. The patty was crisp on the edges and seasoned well, and the toppings were all fresh. NoHo Hospitality Group is helmed by Chef Andrew Carmellini -- who has been awarded a Michelin star, James Beard awardS and has been featured in Food & Wine's Best New Chefs list. Mister Dips started in Brooklyn as a seasonal food truck (in an airstream ofc) in 2016 and now has expanded with store fronts like this latest Detroit location. Mister Dips is not a huge space so when seated inside, the view of the kitchen makes for Chef-table-esque voyeurism, ha! *BBQ BACON DIP double-smoked bacon, american cheese, spicy red slaw: VERY flavorful and for a 4th of July holiday, I felt like I was celebratin' right. All the Americana picnic flavors in one burger. Just a quick note that it wasn't spicy at all to me. The potato bun is VERY Shake Shack-esque but whatever brand they use seems fresher, more pliant with that fresh bread spring. They definitely don't make it in-house though as I saw bags-on-bags (again in the open kitchen). *CHOCOLATE P.B.D. (dark cocoa, salted peanut butter drip) - wooo buddy. I would eat Mister Dips just for this. The "drip" aka outer coating reminded me of the DQ dipped cones I used to eat as a kid except make it fancy. I mean a peanut butter dipped cone?! Such a cute concept located right behind the Shinola hotel. Mister Dips is a chic burger and milkshake / fries / ice cream concept and I like everything about it! I only tried a double burger but it was tasty although a bit pricey! I do wish the portion was a bit bigger but taste wise it was good. The ambiance felt fresh as there are several window seats in addition to booths and everything was clean / tidy which I appreciated. Does it beat in-and-out burger? Nope, but if you're in the mood for a burger before heading to a nearby sports game or such, the location sure is convenient! I did not try to loaded waffle fries but those looked highly tempting! So the inside of Mr. Dips is super cool and trendy looking, so I bit the bullet and decided to order something, which was the grasshopper. So aesthetically, the ice cream looked really cool and insta-ready. But appearances were deceiving. The mint tasted artificial like a cold antacid with no chocolate even though most grasshopper treats are chocolate-mint. Staff was courteous and helpful with options since they were out of the milkshakes but still had ice cream. The ambience was very cute like retro but updated to fit a 2023 vibe, not the biggest place but it had nice wide seating. My burger was good, fresh and juicy and was cooked like a smash burger. The dirty dipped fries reminded me of cafeteria cheese sauce so it tasted almost nostalgic to me. The loaded dirty fries were delicious but missing sour cream in my opinion. The drinks: we had the blackberry buttermilk shake and the slippery banana milkshake (a boozy shake) and both were delicious. I liked the shell topping and the strawberry drizzle, but the way they were made and the order they came out was so weird.
