Tasty pie and friendly staff! I tried butterscotch pie for the first time--good and not overly sweet. Very large though! The parking lot and building itself are a little awkward. There isn't much space to park in the lot or much space to stand inside. I did see indoor seating, but that room also looked like it was holding supplies, so I sat outside, which was nice. I wouldn't have enjoyed sitting inside. They also have offering beyond pies that sound good, but I haven't tried those yet. read more

Stopped in to check out this small pie shop in Kentucky and so glad we did ! They make homemade pies from scratch . The space is very compact , the counter is right in front of you filled with yummy pies , while behind the counter pies are being prepared . They make pies both for the public and also for several of Ramsey's Diner's located in the area. They even make quiches , pot pies and soups ! Tried this place on a late Saturday afternoon and unfortunately they were already out of all of my first picks, but the staff were very friendly. Went with the Butterscotch Pie and the Chocolate Creme. Also tried their pimento cheese and bleu cheese. The butterscotch pie was pretty good. Sweet, creamy and decadent. The chocolate creme was overwhelmingly sweet, too rich and was not our favorite. The pimento was really, really good. It consisted of bigger cheese pieces and less of a cream-like texture than others I've had, which was a nice change. There was no hint of any heat, which I also appreciated. Bleu cheese was also flavorful. I later had a piece of the may day pie from a restaurant that served Missy's Pie and that by far, is my favorite. We literally live down the street and have driven/walked past this place dozens of times. Today i was on a mission to find a peace offering for my boss who had mentioned how much he loved the black bottom banana pie. Lucky for me they had all the pies available so i got a piece. Hopefully it softens the blow out between my boss and myself if not I'll eat the pie myself (kidding or maybe not). When i arrived there were no other customers so i could take my time and slpbher over the mile high meringue i saw on one of the pies. They also offer a lunch menu which id definitely go back for at another time Where they bake it's an open air space so you can watch them work which i always find fascinating since I'm an avid baker myself. Although these days I'm leaning more towards homemade marshmallow making. Brownie pie was bland, but the crust had no flavor at all. Here is a pro tip, use a cookie crust (maybe Oreo crust) to add flavor, texture and substance to the pie. Add some whole chocolate chips and some walnuts, and maybe a thin layer of vanilla frosting to top it off. You're welcome. read more

This year, I was lazy at Thanksgiving, and instead of cooking, I ordered a pie. I called the first week of November to pick up a pie the day before Thanksgiving. I chose a pick-up time and got a confirmation number. On Wednesday, I rolled in and picked up my pie curbside. They had 2 drive thru lanes so you could pick up your pie, pay, and keep on traveling! Pie was great. Pick-up was easy! Pro tip: Pop a piece the brownie pie in the microwave for 20 seconds and add some Greater's Vanilla Bean ice cream drizzle with a bit a chocolate sauce and caramel and you have an elevated treat! read more

Found out about Missy's Pies from Ramsey's Diner. Ordered a slice of strawberry rhubarb and chocolate crème. Both were good and portions were generous. The crust was not delicate or flakey for my taste. Chocolate crème: If hot cocoa and chocolate silk pie had a baby, this would be it, but it was a tad too sweet. The meringue top helped to cut the sweetness of the chocolate crème filling which had a rich chocolate taste reminiscent of hot cocoa. Parts of the crust were soggy. Strawberry rhubarb: Filling was firm, sweetness was just right and there was some tartness from the rhubarb. Crust was average. read more

Paul and I were wanting a post dinner sweet treat, so we gave Missy's a try. I had the combination pie, which was a chocolate peanut butter combo. It was good. The peanut butter portion was light, which complemented the somewhat dense chocolate layer. The crust was flakey and buttery as pie crust should be. Paul has the butterscotch pie. I took one bite and nearly spit it out. I have a powerful sweet tooth, but that pie was cloyingly, knock you on your butt, sweet. On a brighter note, the meringue was good. Service was quick but not particularly friendly. The young woman at the counter seemed annoyed, as though we were keeping her from something important, and came across as condescending. In sum, try the combination pie, avoid the butterscotch, and do not expect service with a smile. read more

The pie just isn't that good. The peanut butter one is decent and the only reason I am giving them two stars. It helps that the crust on that one is different than the others because their regular crust is somewhat soggy and bland. They ought to have crust down to an art form after all these years. Also, anything with meringue is a hard no. Again, that would seem to be a necessary skill in the pie business, but it's not even close to acceptable. They have been around forever, and no matter how long I wait before trying it again (about 20 years before this last attempt), I am always shocked they are so below average. They're not cheap either. There is much better pie to be found in this town. Actually, I just tend to order pie through GoldBelly. I'd rather pay more and get something divine. read more

What can I say, except for this is the best place around for pie. The variety is perfect, fruity pies, sweet pies, I have tried many and not been disappointed. I LOVE pie! I usually make my own but every now and then I just want to try something different. I have gotten pies from Missy's for years but I have to say the last several times I wasn't impressed. The crusts are very soggy and the filling was old and cracked (peanut butter pie). The sugar-free cherry was no better than canned. I'm not sure why they are slipping but it's gone from a solid standby to I think I'll pass. Other reviewers have posted that the shop was unclean and I have to say I agree. I hope the managers/owners take heed and make some necessary adjustments. read more

I wish I hadn't already had a huge lunch next door at Ramseys so I could try a bunch of the different varieties. I had the combo which was the brownie bottom with a peanut butter/cream cheese filling on top. So thick, rich & creamy.....I always judge how good a pie shop is by their pie crust & this crust was a perfect combination of flaky,salty. My favorite pie for the first Saturday in May is named May Day Pie at Missy's. It is most certainly Derby Pie and the best I've ever eaten. A while back someone trademarked their version as the 'Derby Pie' and they have been known to sue for trademark infringement if someone else uses that name. I agree with person that's says, meh. That are mediocre pies at best. Ordered 2 for this Thanksgiving, a pumpkin and pecan. Pumpkin tasted no better than one from Kroger or Fresh Market, which would be around $7-$8. The pecan pie was so runny you couldn't cut it. I'm from the south, pecan pie should not be runny. My point to all this is for $56 for two pies, they should be spot on and the best damn pie I've ever eaten. These were $5-$8 pies. Just ate a coconut crème from Pie Peddler for $14 and it was so much better than these by 10x. Sorry, but I will not be ordering any more pies from Missy's. read more
