I'm so glad I discovered this neighborhood gem. The place was high energy on a Saturday and I sat at the bar counter. Great service on arrival, they were warm and welcoming. I ordered the fresh orange juice with steak and eggs. I liked how musicians and bands would walk in and perform a few songs. What a cool vibe. I could tell this was a family run business and everyone played their part to make sure everything was smooth. The steak and eggs plate was fantastic and a great price for San Francisco. Everything was well seasoned and the meal hit the spot. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

Verde Chilaquiles ( ordered spicy ) eggs over easy w/ steak on the side .

First time ,,,, food was excellent, service was fantastic, the woman who greeted us when we walked in was friendly and smiling . Food was cooked exactly like we ordered it , price was great ... No complaints at all , definitely will be back . Thank You Missions Kitchen .

I finally made it out to Mission's Kitchen this past weekend after hearing from a few people that it was a solid breakfast spot--and they weren't lying. I ordered the omelet special, where you pick your own toppings. I went with mushroom and cheese, and it was a hit. The omelet was fresh, flavorful, and you could tell everything--from the eggs to the cheese and mushrooms--was quality. Every bite tasted clean and satisfying. It came with a side of home-style fried potatoes with red and green bell peppers, and those were just as good--crispy on the outside, soft inside, and seasoned right. I also got a side of sourdough toast, which was fresh and not stale at all, plus a cup of coffee that was smooth and not watered down--definitely a good start to the day. As for the ambiance, it's a small but cozy spot--not too big, not too cramped. It has a cool Central American vibe, and I noticed they offer some dishes like chilaquiles, which I'm definitely going back to try next time. You can feel the care they put into the place, even with the size. Heads up: get there early. I walked in and got lucky with one open seat, but right after that, there were people waiting outside to get in. It's a popular spot for a reason. Final verdict? Two thumbs up. Great food, good coffee, chill vibe. If you're in the Mission and looking for a real breakfast spot, Mission's Kitchen is absolutely worth checking out.

Yummy Breakfast....Old School Mission Hole in the Wall - it Stays Packed in Here!!! They Offer American and Spanish Breakfasts & Lunch. You will Leave Stuffed and absolutely all the dishes are very affordable They Close at 3pm and looks like they opened a 2nd location on Valencia Street (this location might be less crowded)

Horrible, sloppy! My friend's burger was bloody, sent it to get it cooked more, then the folks talking in Spanish, they were lazy bums.

Food was horrible, service was lousy, a bunch of young men standing around doing nothing. My friend's burger was bloody, mine was sloppy. Never again. $30 wasted.

Chilaquiles, +added steak. $21. Huge portion and delicious! Steak cooked perfectly.

Everything you could ask for from a neighborhood hole in the wall: bustling energy, chock full of locals, and, most importantly, great tasting food. I tried the chilaquiles, which comes with two eggs any way, refried beans, and rice. I also opted to add a steak, because why the heck not. The portion was huge! I loved that, despite being a quick service diner, they asked me how I liked my steak, and it came out perfectly (a deliciously tender mid-rare). The steak & eggs, plus coffee, came to $24 before tip, which I thought was more than reasonable given the size. Come here if you're looking for something less touristy, with an old-school diner twist, and delicious food served with a smile.

A no-frills diner with cheerful staff serving up huge Mexican/Central American dishes. They also have typical American breakfast dishes (pancakes, omelettes, etc.) but the magic is in the desayunos especiales. Sometimes we want a hearty breakfast that includes fried plantains, so we come here! If you do visit, come hungry and early. This fills up with local families from 10am on, especially on the weekends. Sometimes a guitar player and/or accordion player will serenade diners too.

I've been searching for a reasonably priced breakfast spot, since prices have skyrocketed over the last 2 years. Found it! Mission's Kitchen is not a looker, but it's obviously popular, the food is good and the portions large. My waitress, Sophia, spotted me as a newbie right away. She came over and after introducing herself, proceeded to tell me the history of the restaurant - what wonderful, friendly person! And the menu prices haven't changed very much over the last 2 years. I'll be back.

Spicy green chilaquiles with a steak (extra $), 2 eggs, beans and rice.

The orange juice, however, was amazing definitely fresh and one of the highlights of the meal. The service was good. The staff was friendly and consistently checking in, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, what really turned me off was what I witnessed regarding food handling. I saw staff members come back from bussing tables and go straight to handling bread and putting it into the toaster without washing their hands or putting on gloves. Watching someone go from handling dirty dishes to preparing food without washing their hands was extremely unsanitary and honestly disgusting. That completely changed my impression of the restaurant. The price was also outrageous for what I received. My corned beef hash, orange juice, and a $6.50 tip came out to around $43 for one person. I just don't feel the food and overall experience were worth that price. The good: great freshly squeezed orange juice and attentive service. The bad: questionable food handling practices and very high prices. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I'd rate it as a 4. I had a potato salad substitute. My wife's omelette was a 4. Decent portion, but just an omelette. My son loved his plain beef burger & hash browns. It wasn't a simple order due to his gluten allergies, but they got it right after an initial mix up adding cheese. The staff are great. Nice ambiance. I recommend ordering without too much deviation off the menu. They were busy & seemed a bit harried. But still: Mel's is not cheap. I still think portions on potato salad, Cole slaw, & tuna melt should increase. Total price was $95 without tip. But we added 20% tip. That's about $38/person. Gotta be honest: we can get more & better elsewhere. We won't be visiting much because of this. Only out of convenience. A 2 still overall...yes, on the price factor. The value isn't there.

On a still sunny evening on 9th Avenue of the Inner Sunset in SF I landed at Caché. I usually grab a duck confit ( duck legs) when I am at a French restaurant but they were serving some Duck Breast with a sweet apple creamy Polenta Shallot Red Wine Sauce. The duck was so tender it felt I was having the duck version of filet mignon. I then had their Duroc Pork Tenderloin ( not the Tenderloin District in SF) which was tender and it feels like it fell off the bone. It was saucy and had good flavor. My favorite of all was the Seabream Sashimi with Virgin sauce. It was tender and tasty and melted in my mouth. I washed it down with glasses of red French Grenache. A lady greeted us at the restaurant, very friendly and seated us right away. Cute small restaurant. Love the old photos of SF in the olden days . We ordered the San Bruno florentine Benedict and Western omelette. Before you order, know that the portions are huge! All the Benedict's comes with 3 poached eggs on an English muffin with hash brown or tater tots with your choice of stuffings. It was very rich, heavy breakfast and delicious! The mushroom and spinach with the sausage was savory. I love how the egg yolks just falls apart everywhere when you cut it in the middle. The hollandaise sauce was just the right amount. It was very filling. The omelette was like a calzone. They stuffed that omelette with so much filling that my hubby was loving it!!! He said it was full of flavors and all the stuffings were soo delicious he could not stop eating. Halfway to his omelette you can tell he was full but he was a trooper and almost finished everything. lol. Anyway, we left the restaurant overly stuffed but happy!!! We should have stopped eating when our tummy told us to stop, but it was delicious and fresh so we kept digging in. That was a mistake, lol.
