This is a nice park within walking distance to various restaurants, stores and thrift shops. It's located between Main Street and Santa Clara Street, just south of Mission San Buena-Ventura and the museum. There's public parking lots all over.
We used the parking lot along Santa Clara Street just west of the Clocktower Inn.
There's a large grassy area in the middle and there were kids in school uniforms playing soccer the day we went. There were also restrooms, but also happened to be locked the day we went. LOL
Anyway, we called the City ahead of time to let them know that we had 45 people who would be eating at the park for lunch. The person from the City said that was absolutely fine, but warned us that there are a lot of "UNDESIRABLE HANG AROUNDS" there.
Huh? Haha.. nice way of putting it....
Once we got off our bus, we did notice right away what the person from the City was talking about. There were people laying by the sidewalk and also in the grassy area. They didn't really bother us, but they were yelling at each other and a few of them had dogs.
They don't have any picnic tables here, but most of us sat on the grass to eat. After lunch a handful of people went across the street to check out the Mission ($4 admission) and a few of us walked around to check out the shops and bakery. :)
Overall, the park served its purpose. I'm just glad it didn't rain.
