I called this hospice to find out why they denied my mom hospice.... I asked for a denial letter and they refused...they are very unprofessional and don't like answering routine questions any family could have. They are all about the money and don't go the extra mile to help families with their loved ones....my mother was denied hospice because she was supposedly on antibiotics but in reality they don't care about your loved ones all they care is about making money from Medicare!!! read more

After YEARS of caretaking for my husband, he was coming back home from a rehab nursing facility and we were suddenly assigned a hospice. The guy was pushy and cold and I sent him packing! Later, after returning from another nursing home, Dr Jigar Kadakia called me and explained in depth my husbands condition and what was expected from me and he really listened!! I agreed to have Mission Hospice come to my aid and am SO GLAD I DID!! I thank Matthew, Evelyn, Sandra, Jonathan, social worker Flor, and volunteers Shiloh and Alice and others for the sweet, caring, personalized help and instruction for my husband!! They were my backbone! Dr Kadakia visited Lary a few times and I even got a week off with respite care. Later, they told me it was time for a permanent nursing home, Flor found a nice place and helped with so much paperwork and details of importance. The team continued to see him, made sure his needs were met and Shiloh and Alice and Jonathan brought comfort food (choc shakes!) and camaraderie. (I would suggest trying to get a nursing home closest to you so you can visit more and be easily available for any issues.) With everything calm and in order, I was with him for what I KNEW was his last 12 hours of life. It's been a year now and I know I would have gone through times of regret, resentment and guilt, but instead have fond memories and knowing I did the best I could for Lary! Thank you all! read more

They basically killed my mother. She was mobile with a walker & her cognitive skills were excellent but had pain that the facility she was at wasn't able to treat because she needed stronger pain meds. She had been on pain medication for decades. The hospice treated her like one size fits all. They stopped the pain medications the facility she was in had her on for years & implemented their treatment plan. Her condition drastically deteriorated under Mission's care. When we asked the nurse, Sandra, to ask the doctor to change her treatment plan and give her stronger pain medication, she was very reluctant to do so & after arguing with her for about 30 minutes, she agreed to speak to the doctor. She kept reiterating the treatment they were giving her. I understood the first time she stated it, yet she kept saying the same thing over & over as if I was an idiot & incapable of understanding basic English. My father is a physician, my sister was a registered nurse and I was pre-med as an undergrad at UCLA. The way she spoke to me was condescending and an insult to my intelligence. At my insistence, she finally spoke to the doctor & called me back & said that after looking into her medical history, she should have been on a different treatment plan. I asked her if it was possible that she had been going through withdrawals & she said it was entirely possible. My mother spent the last week of her life screaming & writhing in pain because of their incompetence & negligence. Isn't reviewing a patient's medical history medical/nursing school 101? I hired a new hospice and they immediately changed her treatment plan and that alleviated her pain but the damage had been done and she passed away the next morning. I would not recommend this hospice under any circumstances!! They never called to apologize or offer condolences for causing my mother's death. If I could sue them for malpractice, I would. However, since she was on hospice, I was told they wouldn't be held accountable. They should be charged with manslaughter, wrongful death or gross medical negligence, at the very least. Our family is devastated and wracked with guilt. I have no words for what they did to my mother and our family. read more

MIssion Hospice has done an excellent job caring for my Aunt under an hospice order for past 10 days at the Alameda Care Center in Burbank. I have had almost daily communication with Mission and 2 in person meetings at the facility. They have demonstarted excellent understanding of my Aunt's conditions/needs and worked well with me during her transition process. They are great communicators, caring, responsive to my concerns and professional. Unfortunately, this is my 3rd hospice experience in 3 years , but I am happy to say by far the most superior experience. Thank you staff at Mission Hospice read more

My experience with Mission Hospice was brief but exceptional! They were compassionate and caring for my sister who was diagnosed with coronavirus at the nursing home. I'm so thankful that I made the right decision by choosing them to take care of my sister on her last day. The team of people including the social worker, chaplain, and the nurse understood the needs of the family and my sister. The nurse visited my sister daily and kept me posted of her condition. Chaplain Steve Morrey called to give me support, visited my sister few times and set up Facetime calls with my sister and the family. He even went to see my sister on her last day, provided some spiritual support, set up Facetime so I can see her for the last time. They make their absolute best to make sure my sister was as comfortable as can be and provided me with incredible support during this most difficult time in my life. From the bottom of my heart, I like to thank Mission Hospice for helping me make this hard time so much easier. Thank you for genuine concern for my sister and for my family. Thank you for continued kindness and compassion. I definitely recommend MISSION HOSPICE to anyone if needed. read more

My mother was transferred to Mission Hospice when the hospice she was in suddenly closed. What an awful experience! They took my mother off several crucial medications without discussing it with me first. When I tried to find out why, I would get passed around to different people, all who refused to answer the question. Her board and care got conflicting paperwork about medication dosages. The nurses would lie to me, deny it, and then tell me I "misunderstood." When we transferred to a different hospice, they tried to take my poor mother's wheelchair, even though they did not provide it. Mission Hospice appears to only be in it for the money. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and stay away! read more

My Mom was admitted to hospice care in her home and I have to say I have been totally impressed with the communication of the nurses, social workers, etc. All her medical needs such as personal supplies and also medicine is ordered by them and they are genuinely concerned if I have a question or just need to find out more information. They have some awesome nurses there that come to her home and I can only wonder how much better our healthcare system would be with caring, efficient nurses who keep in contact with the doctor would be if they modeled after Mission. Having a loved ones health declining is hard but the support Mission Hospice gives is truly a blessing. read more

My father passed away two days ago and Mission Hospice was literally there. Their care staff was incredible - very kind and loving to my dad. And very respectful to my family, especially my mother. Mission Hospice made the final few months of my father's life much better, both physically and emotionally. They not only provided top-notch medical and physical care, they also helped my dad emotionally with musical visits and volunteer companions. Mission Hospice was also very good at responding to my mother's particular needs and requests - they did their best to cater no only to my dad, but to my mom. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

My father passed. NO ONE called. I had asked for Matt his RN never bothered to call or Flor the social worker. I spoke to Carlos the main person who just lied about how he would handle the situation. I just received a call THREE WEEKS later from Ana another social worker not assigned to our case. Clearly, they are using her as their xxxitch to do the other SW grunt work. They were NOT there when we needed them. Please do not be involved with this company. Hospice...my foot read more

As weird as it feels to post a YELP review of a Hospice organization, they deserve A LOT OF credit in making the end of my father's life a relatively smooth transition from this world to the next. Every nurse we met was skillful, caring, and knowledgeable. We are so grateful to this team of dedicated professionals. read more

After a year of care-giving, all of us were operating on minimal sleep, we were maxed-out, exhausted. Mother's needs had dramatically increased, and we were in completely new territory as far as her lung cancer was concerned. As we were leaving the hospital one Friday afternoon, I called Mission Hospice from our car to set up an appointment for the next day in Diamond Bar. At 3pm, Saturday, as scheduled, the Mission Hospice admissions nurse came to our door. We sat down and discussed in-depth what hospice entailed, and what kind of help they could offer. We signed up at 4 pm. By 6pm we had a hospital bed, oxygen tanks, and critical care equipment all delivered and installed. From that point forward the care was knowledgeable, compassionate, and appropriate to Mother's condition. Benefiting from this care, she rallied in strength, with confidence that all was being taken care of. Our family did not need to guess and worry anymore and that left us free to simply be with Mother, spending time with her and saying what needed to be said. I cannot emphasize how important that was. On Sunday and Monday, Mother enjoyed her meals, met with family who had traveled to see her, said her goodbyes. Monday afternoon at 4pm, as her symptoms increased, she slipped into unconsciousness. Tuesday morning at 9:30am, the Mission Hospice nurse arrived to evaluate her condition. He advised us she probably had a few hours left. Mother passed shortly after, and it was gentle, simple, and beautiful. Mission Hospice helped us at every stage, from the moment they showed up at our door, to handling everything that needed to be done during her transition, and taking care of all things after her passing. For Mother, there was expert care for each stage as she went through it, and for us, there was compassion, understanding, and solid reliable guidance and information. We believe Mission Hospice made all the difference. If your family is facing the last days with a loved one, this family recommends Mission Hospice. read more

Wow, is all I can say. We have had Mission Hospice now for 6 months for both Mom and Dad. Amy is great as our case manager. The staff is willing to talk 24hours a day, and they are on call even weekends and holidays they come by to assist with a specific problem. They prescribe meds according to direct conversations with our great geriatric doctor, Dr Arbis Rojas in Pasadena, and the teams communicate daily on care. We have a caregiver staff that covers 24 hours, and they always can count on Mission. Medicines, oxygen tanks, portapotty, even hospital beds are delivered to the house, they come to the house every couple weeks, and Dr. Rojas also comes to the house. Again, amazing service, maximum excellent care. Oh, and medicare covers it all, we have not paid a penny for all of this extraordinary care. My Dad did pass away one month ago, and Mission was there to assist during and before his passing. Peaceful, and now mom is still with us under their care. Amy calls me and has no trouble spending 1/2 hour on the phone talking about specific care, reviewing charts and upcoming future changes, and what we can expect to come. I can also recommend Neptune Society, my folks prepaid for both plans, and they were great. Seamless and came over within 2 hours of my call that my dad had passed on. read more

My Great grandpa is being supposedly carried for by mission hospices. They are not doing there job giving him different medications over the phone to treat a infection that they say he has . They think it's a uti but still running more test mind you he has cancer. He's had fever can barely move and talk right can barely get up now and move around. A week 2 weeks ago he was fine walking around talking. The hospices refus for my family to take him to a hospital and get treated because it will mess up with there billing . Also when my family ask for the simplest thing like commoed the hospices can't even provide that n they getting paid for several months now for there services that they cant even provide correctly. Instead of keeping him comfortable and providing a stress free time for our family. They try and be sweet one the phone and are so quick with there Bs answers instead of coming out and actually checking the patient and the doctor can't come out to see him everything he does by phone . So in the mean time my grandpa is very sick and is not being treated properly by this hospices. All my grandpa is to them is a paycheck they are collecting for several months . So why take him to a hospital there word's he's breathing right no need for a hospital cause they don't want to mess up with there billing. read more

It has been over a year that my grandma has passed away... i still cannot find peace in my heart after what Mission did to my grandma. The so called nurses in this company think they know what they are doing but they truly don't, they may be good in making your love one die slowly and comfortably if they truly in that stage, but if not, and if you are looking for hospice thinking they will help taking care of you love ones, I would not trust them. If I can give them negative star, I would. And yes it's that bad ... I hope you will find a better hospice than me ! read more

After a month of inadequate service from another hospice for the care of my dying husband I was referred to Mission Hospice and what a difference it made in his care and the families peace of mind, they came in to our home explained their services and the following day they took charge, they immediately set him up with the best staff who were knowledgeable, who showed compassion and care and were attentive to all of his needs and made us more comfortable knowing he was going to be well taken care of till the end and made it possible for him to die a peaceful death. I will forever be grateful for the referral and will highly recommend Mission Hospice to anyone who needs their services for family and friends during a difficult and emotional time in their lives. read more

My wife had been very sick. And my whole family had been taking turns watching at home. She had been in and out of hospitals for the last 5 years. And she just didn't want to be in another one again. So we took care of her at home. Her doctor just didn't know what else to do for her. She had a visiting nurse 3 times a week. But she said this wasn't enough. So she recommended Mission Hospice to her doctor. Wow what service. They came out and explained there service and for two days trucks were bringing items to make her more comfortable. And she began to deteriate so the hospice brought in 24/7 nursing care for her. And she got the best care I could ever imagine. These nurses were so caring and compassionate. They let us sit next to her and talk to her as they did their best to make her comfortable. They even had a health aide come and bathe her. I have upmost respect for these nurses. They got very attached to my wife and the family. It was like they were part of the family. Their doctor told me she would soon pass, as she was suffering from congestive heart failure. She lasted over 3 weeks with this great care. And when the nurse saw she was slipping away she came and got me. I was able to hold her hand and talk to her as she took her last breath. And the nurse told me she would call the chaplain and have family members come and say goodbye before she called Rose Hills. So I called the family and they all came. And the chaplain came and we all talked to her and prayed with the chaplain. I truly think this is the best way to end your life. It was the best care anyone would want during there last days. And all the people I met with this company were way above anything I could imagine. I would recommend this company to all that need this type of care. Jon Verhoef West Covina read more
