Everyone was professional, attentive, and compassionate -- but we especially want to recognize Mrs. Mary Rodriguez who consistently made us feel informed and supported for the duration of our mother's stay. Mary cared for our mother at night, and knowing she was in good hands gave us peace of mind. Mary consistently took extra time to explain things to us, and her presence gave us comfort during a very difficult time. I've noticed a big improvement in this nursing home since Kathleen, the new administrator, came on board. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the staff provides great customer service. Everyone has been attentive and responsive. The physical therapy team was especially amazing--they were knowledgeable, encouraging, and really made a difference. read more

Great experience with rehab services and with quality of care offered overall. My relative was here for rehabilitation services and everything went great. Food was great and his food preferences were always honored. I highly recommend this facility. read more

I'm pretty surprised by all of the negative reviews. My mother, who hates nursing places, has never lasted more than 1 day. She checks out because she fears she will die there. I was shocked that she was ok there n I would credit the staff.. all her nurses, dietitian and especially CNA who changed her quickly. That c was positive side. I didn't realize how lonely she was and everyone well, almost everyone, was nice to her. She was there about 2 and half months.. So my negative thoughts.. anyone could come in and see her. No sign in sheets needed. When you first go to the place their's Noone on the first floor. I first went to see her on a Sunday.. I had to call to find it where everyone was.. so she was in the 2nd floor. She really liked her bed and the bamboo garden it was very pretty.. Anyways I needed to monitor her visitors and me and cousins signed in once out of 5 times.. so when she was telling me about her visitors I had no idea who it was. Social services, a specialist.. and eventhough they considered her alert n competent.. she forgot so when she had meetings or signed anything I asked to be apart of but was not. Another issue is she was in bed alot and physical therapy too long. They had to manage her diet and after few weeks when she gets to do bed exercises n waked in her walker. Before my mom went to the ER then Pasadena, she was good on her walker.. slow but ok. Went to the bathroom herself.. but she first week home i had to change her in bed and she was not able to sit up. She left in 9/21, it is now 11/11 and she still is more bed ridden. My mom was there because of her bed wound and a UTI.. Lastly. While she was there she was able to leave anytime.. after her wound was healed they said she was free to leave. The last 3 days she was complaining about her not walking or no physical therapy. So I had to talk to someone who told me her physical therapy was done.. last week.. so my mom was in bed for over a week.. that's long because her goal was to walk in her walker even if it's 3 steps.. So I was not notified even if she able to communicate I still told them I wanted to be included. I knew my mom didn't understand. So when I discharged her.. all of a sudden she was discharging "against doctors orders".. what. She was ready the whole month but on that day. It was against doctors orders.. Ok so overall I do think the staff n how kind they were to her was a big positive, she would've checked her out herself if she wasn't comfortable.. I was ok with most of the administration especially since I was new to this. But in the end when she was super pissed off after trying to tell me she's been such in bed for so long. It was negative.. It doesn't end there.. the day after she was home.. the police came for a wellness check n they told me it was from Pasadena Care.. Very disappointing.. so it's 50/50.. She misses her nurses esp CNA.. but they could've handled her better. read more

I recently visited this location. It was dark and gloomy. The staff was unfriendly and not caring. The rooms were mostly empty. I met with some of the residents and they were so glad to have a visit which says to me that no one gives them any attention. I don't think there's any empathy or compassion given to these people who are left alone. I would never have my loved ones in a place like that. I hope that with all the bad reviews someone will step up and make a difference. This being said, to the administration I am very disappointed with your facility. My husband had a bad stroke and was at Pasadena Care Center for 2 months the nurse's took great care of him and staff was great.

My brother died at the hands of this center. He was admitted with some constraints and physical difficulties, but not to the point of dying. I received a call that the doctor requested to increase meds and exactly four (4) days later he died! During his stay a young lady called and asked " what do you have planned for your love ones departure". What kind of question was that - especially when he was not evaluated as to his problems/issues and how long if would take to rehabilitate him. He was only there 4 days! After his death it took the doctor 2 weeks to sign his death certificate. Very suspicious and definitely a violation under the Dept. of Health and Regulations. It appears the center is well below standards and hire a multitude of incompetent personnel. DO NOT SENT YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS CENTER - AT ANY COST ! SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE DURING THESE TIMES OF COVID 19 WHEN YOU CANNOT VISIT TO PUT THEM IN CHECK. read more

Horrible place to take your loved ones , unsanitary on multiple occasions we found my grandfather covered in ants and when brought up to their attention it was always "well he drops food" , we tried to get him out of there and when we let them know we were going to take him he suddenly had "heart issues" and was sent to the hospital . We did not let him go back whats so ever . I called to get his medication which THEY had just refilled and they said they "destroyed them" after 7 days of them being in the hospital due to them not knowing if they'll have the same meds when discharged . Which is a way of charging the insurance. he received no physical therapy whats so ever. came out worse then when he went in , also no communication with my family . They said "well call you if we send him out to the hospital" we never received a call and they told us "heart issues"and when we called the hospital they said "covid and hyperglycemia" and i called to notify they had no idea what we were talking about . If I could give this place negative stars I would. This place is awful!! My mother in law was there temporary for a recovery of a toe amputation. The staff is rude/ borderline abusive to not only my mother in law but to all their patients. They don't care about the doctors orders or instructions. The CN tending to my mother in law cussed at her and told her to shut up! My husband caught her and confronted her and she said well she was screaming. DUH!!! SHES IN PAIN!!! Also because of this she now has nightmares about it and yells for help in her sleep! Also because of their negligence she left that place to go to the hospital to get her leg amputated because they allowed her to do as she pleased and did not care! They also allowed her not to eat and we were told to bring her food! This place is just awful! NEVER SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! It just asking for a death sentence this place should be shut down! read more

If I could I would give zero stars. Avoid at all costs!!! Did not treat or take care of a relative of mine. Staff was very rude and unprofessional. Very poor communication with patients families. The facility is in really bad shape. It has a bad odor and I'm almost positive it's not up to current building code/standards. read more

In the time my family member was here he had ok physical therapy. But it drops from there. This is the place to bring someone if you want them to die and be demoralized. My family member was paralyzed. The staff dropped him. They dropped atleast one other patient as well. I know food is suppose to be bland, the food is HORRIBLE here. Yams dont taste like yams, and so on. It felt like they got out of date cans of food cheap and heated them up. Some of the staff was very good. But for many it was a stepping stone for their careers. Staff was poorly paid, many called in sick frequently. It was hard to take care of all the residents. Some of the staff were absolutely terrible. One nurse spent and hour hiding in a patient room talking on her cell phone one evening. I was told about it the next day. One day when I visited and was told the toilet hadnt worked in 3 days. I have never seen so much excrement. My family member was not able to complete the 'paperwork'. No one said nothing for 3 days! I had to go down to the head nurse. That had to be fixed before I left! I noticed many reviews have been removed in the last year. The place is a dump even though they are slowly fixing it up. The doctor never saw my family member even though he had a severe nuerological problem. First time he saw a doctor in 2 years is when he left. Please dont pick this placed for a loved one. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to visit my aunt. Staff was very caring and friendly towards the patients. I don't know why this place only has one star it should have six. Good job to the management. read more

This place used to be called sunrise the name is changed but it's clearly the same people even the equipment still says sunrise on it I was never able to get a doctor to see my mom she was there five days till she died I was never able to get a respiratory therapist to see my mom and I adjust her oxygen levels on the BiPAP machine I had numerous arguments and had to get really angry with people in order to get them to feed my mom and just give her basic simple care take her to the bathroom and such it was a constant argument and battle and I had to go there three or four times a day whatever you do if your loved ones end up here be sure to check on them several times throughout the day and night you'd be quite surprised at the care they're actually getting I saw a lot of very sad people in there forgotten and left behind,, After investigating more I found violations and fines for Sunrise and Pasadena Care Center and almost 100 morphine pills and other medications of my mother gone yet she was only there five days this place is very shady I wonder what they do with the old medication... it was already a dramatic experience dealing with my mom's death but to deal with her not getting proper basic simple care was an out rage.. It's really sad because if they shut the place down where will these people go most of them are on some type of Medicare or Medi-Cal and can't afford to go anywhere else.. Like I said if your loved ones end up here be sure to check on them often read more
